They are not mother and daughter ffs! And the 4 of them are not a family. The woman & halsey are both with the same man (the woman is his wife & halsey is a teenager but is the man's secret girlfriend & is also dating the man's son).
Halsey is their guest at dinner & at the country club. That's why she's asked to take pics & she's not IN their family pics. She's been keeping pictures of the dad instead of taking & keeping pics of her bf (his son) & then her boyfriend discovers the pics/discovers the affair & is destroyed by it/the son feels betrayed by both his gf & his dad.

Also, turns out I was wrong about the family relatonships: in a "making of Colors" or a "behind the scenes of Colors" video I just saw, Halsey actually says the woman IS supposed to be Halsey's character's mom. It makes no sense to me (like, I don't get why the 4 of them are shown together looking - to me anyway - like a mom, a dad, a son, & the son's girlfriend)... but Halsey was very clear when she said the woman was supposed to be the mom of the girl, & that the girl has a crush on the man dating her mom (& that the man happens to be the dad of Halsey's character's boyfriend).
That the boyfriend is played by Tyler Posey (who was dating men irl when this video was made but hadn't yet come out as openly queer - though he has come out since) added another layer to the complicated relationships btw the 4 main characters in the video... I knew Tyler was dating guys when the video was released bc my best friend from childhood worked as a writer on the "Teen Wolf" set; Tyler's sexuality wasn't a secret.
He is one of those actors who had chosen for ages to be "out" to all his friends, family, & colleagues but until pretty recently he chose to not to label or really discuss his sexuality with the public - though he did publicly date women & he had a serious girlfriend from 2003 to 2013 - so when he came out as sexually fluid last year nobody who really knew him was at all surprised or being told anything new... but if in the video Halsey's character was dating someone who was gay or bi but not publicly out (so he was maybe using her character as a beard to make his parents & the kids at school think he was straight)... it would have made sense for Halsey's character to look elsewhere & to maybe even fall in love with someone else (just a thought)...

The situation seems pretty clear to me, the mom and the dad are not together, likely both divorced, they met at a country club. The mom hit on the dad, giving him her number and arranging a date at her house, and the dude got into the daughter thinking it was reciprocal.

The lyrics that stand out to me the most are “and now he’s so devoid of color he don’t know what it means” and it hits me so hard bc it’s how I feel. I’ve been in a rut for so long that my passion for damn near everything is gone. Like all the color has faded. And I don’t remember what it was like to have passion and vibrancy in anything and I don’t know what it means either. I know I’ll get out of this rut someday but I just thought I’d share how crazy that one line in a song can so accurately describe who you are and how you feel. Bless you all.
Brittany - I had a friend who lost her severely disabled daughter, after caring for her around the clock for 32 years. I saw a photo of her one Thanksgiving, about a year after her daughter had died. She was standing with her 2 sisters in the kitchen. 👀 Her eyes were devoid of joy, devoid of life. My best friend and I arranged to take her to see a psychiatrist and learn about ways of coping with her depression. She briefly took an antidepressant, sought therapy, and started working again. Not everyone is bipolar, but a ton of people get severe depression. Difference being - bipolar folks have some degree of chemical imbalance that needs treatment for the long haul, whereas depressed people may require only brief treatment with an antidepressant to, “Kick start,” the brain, or reestablish balance in the brain. A pill isn’t always the answer, but for many people with depression, a pill is the only answer. Help your body out, see a psychiatrist. A lot of them really know what they’re doing.💊
@@RavinLunatic thank you so much for sharing this with me. I’m dealing with loss too, the loss of my brother and my husband and I recently decided to call it quits on our marriage. Which honestly may be for the best in the long run as it was so unhealthy but it’s still another blow. I tried therapy in the past and antidepressants after I lost my brother but the meds made me think some pretty not so good things, so I gave up without trying any other meds. I understand now that not every pill works for every person and I should have continued to seek help, but at the time I figured the way I felt prior to the meds was better than how I felt on them and I was honestly so scared to feel that way and have those scary thoughts again so I just dealt with it on my own. I have been going back and forth for months now on whether it might be worth it to try again and your message could be the sign I was looking for to take the leap and do it. Idk what even made me share my feelings on this video as I really don’t do that, so idk I’m taking this as the sign I needed and I am going to find someone to see on Monday. Thank you again for taking the time to help out a stranger on the internet, I needed it more than you know

As sad as it is to lose your marriage, if you had felt supported in it, you would still be there. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to just take care of ourselves. You know your body and mind better than anyone else, so you are just as critical to your treatment success as any drug or doctor. I remember the trial and error stage of antidepressants, but I’m also fairly confident that there have been some fantastic trials since then, so I’m really hopeful for you! Go into it determined but patient. Also don’t forget to focus on your rest patterns and eating habits. I know it can all be a p.i.a., but YOU are worth it!! Once in a great while someone touches my heart here, and I thank you so much for that! I’m rooting for you! And hey, you saying that ANYTHING I said was helpful to you, totally makes every single word I’ve ever written here worth it.🙏🏼💗

Everytime I hear this song it's all I can do to not melt into the floor and sob. I was once with a man that I was so connected to and we were so crazy in love. He was ripped from me tragically. He was murdered and thrown away like a piece of garbage and his remains weren't found for 2 years afterwards. He was 28 years old when this happened. He was a very deep thinker, questioned everything, was so in tune with the universe. He also suffered with crippling depression and numbed it with oxycodone (they're blue) which added to his misery struggling with addiction. I've never known such passion before or since then. I'm remarried now, to someone that is the polar opposite of everything he was (i think i may have been trying to fill a hole, a void, and its a struggle but everything came so naturally with my late love) and now I wake up everyday and it's not with him. 😢

I wasn't surprised in the slightest because of how vague they kept everything about the guy she liked, and how there were constant glimpses of all three of them, that's what gave me the idea that she liked the older guy. The lyrics, on the other hand, i felt like were about both of them. The "everything is blue" part, to me, felt like it was about the younger guy, while the "everything is grey" part is about the older guy (it could also be about both the guys, as the younger one is also sometimes shown wearing grey). She also puts on a red lipstick on her (blue) self, in turn creating purple. So if she herself is blue, and the younger guy is also blue, then they won't be able to create purple, instead they would create a whole lot of blue to the point that everything around them will eventually turn blue. After the "but you decided that purple just wasn't for you" part, she goes on to say that "everything is blue", this shows that when he left her she went from being lilac (or purple) back to being blue as her "red" part was taken away from her.

So with this video it always bugged me because I just thought it was so extra and didn't really fit the song well. That is until I looked at the song and video from a different perspective: That this whole story is actually about Tyler getting dumped by Halsey for his dad and the song "Colors" is Tyler's letter to Halsey. (I know it sounds crazy but hear me out and I'm not saying this was the directors intention I just think it's a really cool concept) Now let me explain.
Whenever she says "you" she is relaying a message that Tyler said to her. So basically it goes like this-
Tyler: Your (halseys) little brother never never tells you he loves you so, you said your mother only smiles at her TV show, you're only happy when your sorry head is filled with dope, I hope you make it to the day you're 28 years old.
Halsey is the only one shown to be smoking (looked like pot aka dope) in the video. Halsey wants to be a pop star, and we all know about the famous people dying before 28 thing. If it were about Halseys love interest (the dad) OBVIOUSLY he's past 28, plus we've no indication he smokes. Why was that shot of Halsey smoking shown if it wasn't talking about her?

Even though she's completely nuts and going down the wrong path he still loves her, still thinks she's beautiful.
Then there's the chorus, which is obviously about his dad. I mean the little blue pills, grey hair, that's obvious. So i think it's Tyler saying his dad is colorless, no dreams no hopes. He doesn't really have a future but his actions keep affecting Tyler's life. I mean he did steal Tyler's girl lol.

Through the whole song Tyler's dad has been referred to as blue or grey. So why now is he being known as red? It doesn't make sense. Which is why i think that Tyler is saying Halsey is red and Tyler was like his father in being blue. He liked that she was different and she liked him because he was like his dad. Being with her made him different too. However after being together she realized he was different from is dad and not a good enough substitute so she left.
Anyways I know it's kind of all over the place but hopefully it made sense. I just thought it was a neat idea.
EDIT: I realized rereading it that I put dying "at" 28 instead of "before".
Also, I know the song is actually about Matt Healy. Just about every one knows that lol. I'm just talking about my interpretation of the video in regards to the song. So please stop saying "Not uh iz about Matt Healy"
