You are a stress reducer. Your gentle voice, your always informative sharing, whether it be quilting, cross stitching, or decor is my "happy place". Thank you. I'm new to quilting so the tutorials are appreciated. Happy stitching. ❤
Thank you for the lesson, I’ve never quilted but it’s something I’ve always wanted to try. Maybe I’ll start with a tiny quilt, they’re adorable! Love your little village houses, too! And oh my goodness Lori, you truly do live in God’s country! What magnificence!! Hugs!
Hi Lori. Love your star a day quilt blocks. I am really excited about this project. I can see where it would be so fun to do one a day and eventually you have a quilt. Also, love your little mini quilts over the fences. Great idea! See you tomorrow.
I actually used to quilt but stopped years ago. Watching you ignites a tiny flame in me but I must control myself. When we downsized I also downsized all my crafts which between you and me I should never have agreed to do that! Thank you for the demo!!
Now I’ve got to add more crafting to my long list!! I’m hand stitching flower garden quilt and now I’ll be doing the stars! Thanks Lori for teaching us all the things❤️
The clutch you made is fantastic! I've never done hand quilting yet, but it's something I'd like to try. Seems like it might be more relaxing than using my sewing machine. I look forward to demo part 2. 😊
You did a lovely job explaining the tools necessary for hand piecing your stars. I have hand pieced in the past and enjoyed it very much. Your blocks are beautiful! I am enjoying your new starts.⭐⭐⭐
Love the houses with the quilts. Nice tutorial. That was the way I learned to piece many years ago. (Before rotary cutters and all the nice tools we have these days). 😊
Thank you Lori for the demonstration today, love the colors you picked for your fabric too! I appreciate all the information you are providing to help me with my quilting journey!
I loved your demo on the star diamond one a day star quilt. I ordered the pattern and other supplies to make it. I love the concept of drawing the lines to sew on. That is how my sister taught me to hand sew doll clothes when I was seven years old. I loved that the technique brought back those memories. I also ordered the large quilt star pattern on your couch. I love that quilt and being a great quick gift idea. Also a great pattern to showcase fabrics that you love and don’t want to cut up small.
Not sure I could commit to a quilt because hand stitching is difficult for me but I can see a table topper in my future. Thank you for sharing your talent.
Many years ago I stitched some miniature quilts for my daughter’s doll house. Loved your display of houses and quits on fences. Can’t wait to see your next video.
I've never done paper piecing or hand stitched pieces for a quilt. I can see how it would be relaxing. Those little houses are perfect! Looking forward to your future quilting tutorial.
Wonderful video!! Your colors are my favorite colors. I love dark rich colors that are civil war/ prairie prints. Homespun as well. The star is going to be gorgeous! I love the the adorable mini quilts and hanging on the fences, adorable!!! Same beautiful dark dark flosses for cross stitch projects are gorgeous!! Can’t wait for tomorrow!!
Your tiny stars are going to make a beautiful quilt. My first quilt was completely hand pieced. Years later when I was interested in quilting again, rotary cutters had been released and I never looked back. If I ever get tired of other handwork, I might give hand piecing another try.
Hi Lori, Thank you for sharing the star quilt. I don't feel so intimidated by this process. I went to "The Woolen Needle" website and ordered the pattern with the templates.
Thank you for showing the Star..Im going to give it a go and try and do one each day while Im caring for my folks,it will make a lovely memory of this time spent with them. Mum will need residential care after Dad passes as she has dementia. My going to help means we keep them together as long as we can. I love the idea of making a Star quilt during this time….Im going to have to look for some fabric now….
Thank you for sharing your time with us❤️💚. The stars are sew pretty, I would benefit from seeing another angle of the hand sewing lol😅. Love your new starts! I'm stitching 13 Lori Holt ornaments for the kiddos in my family. New starts planned for the New Year🪡❌🪡. See you tomorrow 🕯️
Really enjooying your Vlogmas. The instruction video for the stars. I have always thought stitching by hand would be so difficult but I think this is something I can do. After the holidays I will be kitting the stars up and of course need to order the pattern and suggested tools Oh those houses are great
I have only made one quilt and it was a very basic big block quilt. Your showing us these techniques has gotten me so excited to make another quilt. The one on your couch is what I want to try for my second attempt at quilting. Can't wait for your video on how to make it.
You are amazing! Loving Vlogmas. I get so much from your videos. The photos before and after are just beautiful. Hugs from the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas.
Ahh, you have some beautiful scenery there too! My mother’s family is from the foothills of the Ozarks on the Missouri side. I hope to get back there some day.
Great tutorial! I love your stars. I have always used the papers to make those, but I am anxious to try piecing one by hand. The papers are a pain to remove! The quilts hanging on your miniature fence are so darn cute! Gosh, you are so creative. I may use some of my orphan blocks and just bind them to make a mini quilt. Thanks for the inspiration! ❤
Your stars are lovely Lori. Hand-piecing can be so relaxing. Love your little quilts. They go great with the houses. Also love seeing your kitties! Thanks for sharing and Happy Stitching!
Great to see you again! What tiny little stitching - wow! I’m not that good at sewing, what a mess I’d make of those little tiny blocks. I do like to see how it’s done though, very interesting. I watch on my tv and comment from an iPad so it’s good because I’m commenting on all the flosstubes, vlogmas/flossmas videos. I hope to get into a routine of commenting- I’m the worst! Thanks for sharing- see you tomorrow!
Thank you so much for commenting!! I watch on my TV sometimes as well. Using a firestick has made it a lot easier to maneuver than just a regular smart TV. See you soon!
Those photos of your landscape are surreal. Amazing Love the hand stitch stars. I am an EPP hexy lova. I enjoy it the tiny stitching where I don’t have to count. lol. I was on a road trip with my daughter to Oregon. We stopped at many antique stores. We found fabric 3” log cabin preprinted muslin. I could not believe it when you held up your 3” log cabin template!!! So excited to see how you use it. Hugs and a happy Day #4 Lori 🎄🧵🎄🧵🎄🧵🎄🧵🎄
Hey, Lori! Suggestion...cut the strip using your little creative grids ruler instead of drawing the line, then use the diamond template on the strip and rotary cut the diamonds from the strip...saves a ton of line drawing and cutting! Just draw the sewing lines. The templates are plenty sturdy for using the cutter and makes short work of prep work. Enjoy! I took Karen's class at the Woolen Needle...her work is amazing!
@@candrasowder8236 Thanks for the suggestion! I did try doing that, but because the diamonds are all on the bias, they tend to get a little wonky when drawing the stitching line. I should maybe try again.
I love to piece quilts on my sewing machine but I’m really enjoying your hand pieced blocks and little quilts. I might have to give hand piecing a try since you make it look easy.😊
Thank you for walking us through the Star a day quilt. I received the pattern last Christmas and have been a little intimidated to start it. I asked Santa for a Butter Churn Basics fat quarter stack this year so I can finally make a start on it!!
Thanks for the demo on your One Star A Day quilt! I love the colors you have chosen. And those miniature quilts are adorable! And a 3" log cabin block? I look forward to seeing that!
I really have the quilting bug, now! I am a beginner but I have many quilty friends who can help me. You make it look so doable. Love, love your videos,
Lori - Love the idea of hand stitching your stars - they turn out perfect! My sister and I are watching your Vlogmas videos - we’re quilters too. We both agree you are so talented! Lovely!!
Your fog frost on the trees looks so pretty. We had a snow squall come through unexpectedly this afternoon. We were out in it and the roads were not good. Even though there wasn’t much accumulation, the wind was blowing so hard that at times it was white-out conditions. Now it continues to blow making the windchill -7. Brrr! Your hexagon star blocks are looking great. Watching your demo makes me think I could do that. Goals!
We’re going on day four of the frozen fog. It’s so pretty, but it’s getting a little old. The airport had cancelled lots of flights because of it. Nothing that is impacting me, but I have friends who aren’t able to fly out.
Thank you for the review of the tools you use for your stars! They are so pretty! I think I have the pattern; I’ll go looking. Adorable small quilts to go w your houses.
Looking forward to tackling this technique with the template ….. I’m looking forward to hand stitching … my grandmother used to sit in front of the television on Saturday afternoon and watch Tarzan ….. I always made sure I was there when she got home. We ate Banquet Pot Pies (which was soooo special!) and ate on TV trays in while we watched old movies and stitched.
I love hand, work embroidery and especially appliqué. Now to find the time to do all the things thanks again for your great videos love your videos. Vickie.❤
I have enjoyed all your videos this month! You are helping me find my Christmas spirit ❤ I usually watch you on my tv so I don’t always remember to comment
I think I am going to have to make the diamond quilt. I like that’s not paper pieced. Maybe because I am a quilter but I thought the demonstration was just fine. Your miniature quilts were amazing. Im not there yet.
I did a cross stitch piece last year where the color of the leaves of a tree were based on the temp for the day. It was a year long project. I also crocheted an afghan based on the temp at the same time (it was a special birthday year). Realized I liked a once a day project, so I have the papers to do the star quilt and will be pulling fabrics to get it started in January

Thank you! It’s definitely my happy place.
Wowser! Your views are phenomenal! The reds in the stars you are piecing are so beautiful! Beautiful views inside and out!
Can’t get enough of the nature in your beautiful views!
A small hand pieced quilt might just be the ticket then! I’m not sure if I could downsize … that would be like leaving old friends!
Now I’ve got to add more crafting to my long list!! I’m hand stitching flower garden quilt and now I’ll be doing the stars! Thanks Lori for teaching us all the things❤️
You'll love the star quilt!
The clutch you made is fantastic! I've never done hand quilting yet, but it's something I'd like to try. Seems like it might be more relaxing than using my sewing machine. I look forward to demo part 2. 😊

You have the most beautiful views from your home. A sweet little Star pincushion will be great! Enjoying your videos!
I can't wait to see your star quilt come together.
Love the houses with the quilts. Nice tutorial. That was the way I learned to piece many years ago. (Before rotary cutters and all the nice tools we have these days). 😊
It’s amazing how we used to make it work before all the new tools!
Thank you Lori for the demonstration today, love the colors you picked for your fabric too! I appreciate all the information you are providing to help me with my quilting journey!

I started some hexagons a few years ago so I’ll look forward to seeing your flossmas tomorrow… I need a refresher course

I haven’t quilted in years but you are making me want to break out all my old Thimbleberries and Kansas Troubles!
Yay!

Love those Harold Turpin houses. Your little miny quilts are adorable!!! However the smaller the harder in my book LOL.
Sometimes that true, but these were really easy.
I don’t quilt, as you know, but your star a day actually didn’t look that hard even for a beginner. 😍 I loved your little quilts!
Thanks Zena. I love that you watch!!
Great hand stitching
More awesome eye candy!
Seeing your quilting makes me want to get back to mine
I did a cross stitch piece last year where the color of the leaves of a tree were based on the temp for the day. It was a year long project. I also crocheted an afghan based on the temp at the same time (it was a special birthday year). Realized I liked a once a day project, so I have the papers to do the star quilt and will be pulling fabrics to get it started in January
I’ve seen various takes on the temperature projects, but leaves on a tree sounds intriguing.
