In a ghetto area a few guys and galls hanging out on the porch is common day and night. Stash houses usually have spotters on the route to them doing this as an urban OP. Also if you're going to look out a window don't crowed it stay a bit back and try to make sure the room is darker than outside.

You need to reach out to Ed Calderon and have a podcast. The cartel understands how to set up OP in non-warfare (technically) environments.

Along the OP theme I'd love to see an in depth series focusing on the skills of the combat hunter and observer program. No Gucci gear no guns. Just the power of truly harnessing observation.

Yeah that would be great to dedicate time to! Gotta do a lot of research on the topic beforehand; none of us went to that specific school so it’s hard to speak with any authority on it without extensive research 🤙

@@S2Underground I think you are probably closer than you give yourself credit for to someone who can speak on the topic with authority (assuming your background is what I think it is 😉).
I never attended combat hunter myself but I know people who have and they were blown away by it. Some of the most bad ass non tactical skills a person can have are the ability to use their mind and eyes to their true potential.
It has tremendous application to our current national situation and operating in NPEs.

People who already own 5 rifles want to know which rifle they should spend their next pay check on to feel safe at night; spend your next check on a 2nd or 3rd generation night vision monocular with a suitable head mount and become the night. And yes thermal can see the boogieman.

I have started playing with Gotenna mesh devices for this purpose. They use a burst transmission to send an encrypted text message to a single person or a group of people. more devices (nodes) can be placed to help bounce the message further. Each node is able to relay your message regardless of ownership. I do believe they would be harder to triangulate due to how the message is sent. Something to think about.

Any thoughts on integrating electronics into an OP/LP plan in rural and suburban environments? I feel like a couple inexpensive, sound-enabled, digital IR cameras covertly mounted on a tree or lamp post at the end of one's driveway could be of considerable use in the event that you can't go digging a hole in your front lawn without raising eyebrows, especially if they're PTZ cameras.
And, of course, fantastic work as usual. Looking forward to the next one.

    OBSERVATION POST/LISTENING POST
An Observation Post (OP) is a location which allows one to see enemy lines, supply routes & avenues of approach. A Listening Post (LP) is geared towardss eavesdropping.
You need to keep the following in mind when building your own OP/LP.
    1. Clear Observation of avenues of approach - Need a clear line of sight.
    2. Cover & Concealment - In civilian applications this is paramount, especially low intensity environments.
    3. Ingress & Egress Routes - Conceal them.
    4. Communication - Radio or field telephone to report what you see for early warning capabilities.
    5. Optics - Massive force multipliers.
NB - Points 2 & 3 - You often have to sacrifice optimal line of sight for a location that provides better concealment.

I live in a rural area with 2 ways in, but ones through a place which requires ID so for rioters or ne’er do wells to come into my neighborhood (as unlikely as that may be as of right now) they basically have to go through a choke point (unless they wanna go all militia on us and hike through the woods in full kit which though not impossible is fairly unlikely).
