Reverse the roles: if you were up there on your roof with him and you damage your shingles showing him wind damage, do you think he’d be ok tacking that on to the final payment?
He’s violating the contract that the insured agreed upon when they purchased the policy. It’s bad, regardless of the total amount of damages.

From the year 2000 till today Corperate profits and corporate executives wages have increased by 1500-3000%! My grandfather died a millionaire! Worked 35 years for one of the largest health insurance providers.. a non profit! A few years after he retired the board voted to increase their salaries to match the private for profit sector!

I absolutely hated that job. Getting up on high roofs with bare minimum safety equipment, no work supplies provided by the company, door to door sales (Have a had a Firearm pointed at me), and we didn't get paid until the roofing job was done which the entire process took weeks! They did give us $75 per contract but we had to give it back when we got paid. So one day I just sent my "Business partner" a nice little text saying I'm done.

They argued with me and argued with me. Made them print out the floorplan and lay it underneath the roof print out. Then silence. Them, "excuse me a moment." 5 min later they had me an "emergency" adjuster on the way the next morning to correct it.

My job was to go door to door and tell people they might have damage from recent storms and offer them a free roof inspection. Then I was expected to get them to sign a contract with our company thru their insurance to repair any damage. I made like 15 an hour and 50 dollars for every contract I got signed. When I asked for help one day from one of the higher up guys, he climbed on the roof with a nickel and started digging it into shingles like a mad man. Then he took pictures to show the home owner all of the "hail damage". I found out he was making 5k per contract that I initially got signed. I quit the next day. Apparently there was a lawsuit and I had proof of everything but didn't want to be involved because I was young. But now I realize I could've gotten paid out pretty damn well and maybe helped some home owners get reimbursed as well. Definitely a common thing I'm sure. Pretty shitty if you ask me!

I did roof repairs full time and know the first thing you need to do is break the glue bond between the shingles before ever trying to pry them up. Removing a shingle and preserving the ones above and around can be challenging when the shingles are old and cracking. I could have easily got that shingle in this video separated without damage. It just takes longer. Dont be afraid to hit it with a quick torch of its cold outside. Its just like a tar glue. It will release.

THATS WHY I DONT REPAIR ROOFS! Even if you repair a spot successfully and another area starts leaking that has nothing to do with you, it didn't leak before you were up there and you were the last one on the roof.

God damn I hate insurance adjusters. The last time I dealt with one was on a plumbing job. The stack broke, the stack was inbetween 2 walls, so the homeowners had no idea it broke as it was impossible to see. We, as plumbers came in and even guessed the wrong side of the wall it was on, as there was an addition added on to the building the in 70's, 150 years after the building was built, concealing the stack, which typically in this neighborhood would have been outside of the wall. The stack broke, we opened the wall and there was black mold throughout their kitchen. The insurance adjuster said, "yeah you can claim that on your insurance but, if you do, we will drop you from your policy and add you to a blacklist so no one will insure you." So that homeowner paid outright for the repair.

Bro the original video to this clip is wild. The adjuster was clearly sent there to deny a job he had no clue how to appraise. He was absolutely about roofing and the roofers were there working. Adjuster tried saying the insurance wasn't liable because they weren't installing the roofing correct and breaking tiles or something, then proceeded to absolutely obliterate a whole section of perfectly good roofing to try and show it was damaged lmao

@@RoofingInsights3.0 really? you have a neutral 3rd party representing the insurance. the appraiser does not have to abide by insurances "rules" (policy is enforced though"), and in my experience, if the damage is their and wasnt paid by the adjuster, it will usually get paid for in appraisal. It does take more time, but what would the homeowner prefer, they pay out of pocket for damages, or it takes a little longer and the insurance ends up paying for it? id assume the latter of the 2.
