It needed one more layer. Instead of using the thumbnail you sent Vinny, you should’ve made the thumbnail a screen cap of Vinny showing the thumbnail on stream.

You could have over laid the overlay overtop of the thumbnail from the stream in such a way that we'd be able to see both for maximum meta
I think the style of New Donk is fine. The fact that everyone is in a suit and fedora and they all talk like wise guys helps too. It's such a heavy parody of New York City that it rolls right back into absurdity and feels right. I think it would have felt a lot more generic if they made it a cartoony city with cartoony people.
Per the artbook, the New Donkers were originally planned to have proportions in line with Mario/Luigi and I'm glad they changed it to the more realistic proportions for the reason you outlined.

What's even weirder is how Nintendo repedatdly wants to reminds us how Cranky Kong was the DK from the old arcade. So either Mario is older than he looks, or that one DK game with the Mario toys is canon.

idea: Mario was born in the mushroom kingdom to parents originally from there.
Then his family moved to the Metro Kingdom, where he grew up. Donkey Kong and Mario Bros Classic happened there. Then he moved back with his brother to the Mushroom Kingdom because Dual Citizenship.
That's why he looks so different.
Does that mean that staying in the mushroom kingdom for too long will turn you into a cartoon, while being there for a few years makes that permanent in Mario's case?

Yup. And Pauline may be half-New Donker and half-Mushroom Kingdom resident. That's why she looks a lot less cartoony than Mario and Peach, but less real than other New Donkers.

maybe the sewers somehow mutated Mario a bit, explaining how he looks now?
The only reason mario looks different in the donkey kong game was because it was supposed to be a Popeye the Sailor game, with Popeye saving Olive Oil from Bruno. They didn't get the liscence, however, so they just reskinned it all. Or something to that effect.
One thing people should realize about the overall "easiness" about the game and the easy moons, is that Nintendo intended this game to be played and completed by players of all ages. Without spoiling too much: The game gets fucking brutal after the main quest is done.
Plus if you're a speedrunner, you can map the easiest moons and finish the game in no time flat. Harder moons are for completionist. Good balance in my opinion.

Yeah, and that's getting all the moons and stuff again. Things like the two extra kingdoms become easier after some time of doing it and understanding it. Like for example, Rabbit Ridge. Topper is conaidered tough later on, but I at some point discovered a method where while he spins around, you can stomp on him. Everyone else has a countering method that you can figure out pretty fast, and the mecha is easy.
2:15:00 Honestly the way you present yourself and your streams is pretty much one of the reasons I watch you and the other Vinesauce members. I don't enjoy overly animated streamers, I want to be to be like backseat gaming with friends; a few laughs but a mostly relaxed environment. I'm probably showing my age since I'm only about 5 years younger than you but that's just what I like from your content.

The different styles of art are SUPPOSED to look off. Whether or not you like that is down to personal preference, but I think it's clever and even quite daring to go in such a direction. I'm glad it's a Mario game that looks different from all other Mario games. I'm assuming that due to the focus on travel, we're supposed to feel out of place, in unfamiliar settings, to simulate the experience of being in very foreign countries. The included Mario-esque elements in other kingdoms (such as green pipes) are just there to keep visual consistency, and tie all the worlds together - also, it's easier to know what one green pipe looks like, as opposed to 10 or so different styles of pipes of varying degrees of realism. (Just an example).
Besides, something about it just works for me. I don't know whether it's because it's Mario, whose world has always been a zany mish mash of the real world and fantasy, or if they just pulled it off because they are that good at making games. Either way, it never bothered me, not even for a second...
I'd compare it very favorably to Sonic 06. Sonic 06 tried to shove realistic humans into the Sonic world and it didn't work cos they tried to take a game about a goofy blue hedgehog with attitude and make it a big, serious story. When Mario Odyssey does it, it's more like "hey, here's a realistic human for no reason. hell, here's a city full of them. they all dress and talk like they live in the 1930s or something. fuck you, here's a t-rex." It's weird and zany and I like it. They don't fit at all, and that's why it works so well.

Isn't the Metro Kingdom great? Just how the music kicks it up a notch with each musician you find, surprised Vinny didn't mention that, makes it so damn vibrant and amazing.

That musical bit made me kinda emotional. I hate life and the world seems like such shit all the time, but there's still such wonderful things, and it made me remember all the happiness Nintendo has given me over the years. Very well-done. Can't wait to be able to afford a Switch, Wii U, and Wii so I can play everything I can't emulate.
FYI Wii is easily emulatable, and the U is fully backwards compatible. U emulation is actually going well and developing quickly, which is nice to take advantage of if you have decent specs.

Waluigi's Awakening: Judgement

Does the first New Donk City chapter remind anyone of Blackwater City from the original Ratchet & Clank? Small, nasty creatures resembling slugs that get bigger and stronger (in this case maggots and flies), heavily armed soldiers (in this case tanks), the night setting, it just being a city under attack by the game's big bad, THE MUSIC? It brings back so many good feelings from the first time I played R&C. Except... no crazy fun arsenal of weapons. I mean you get a hat... so... yeah...

In my experience, when you enter a hidden bonus level within a kingdom, the general rule is that there will usually be a hidden second moon other than the obvious moon at the end of that level, so look out for that
