Glad you think so!
🙂I learnt alot
I am so glad!
Very helpful. Thanks
Great!
Interesting. Thank you for sharing. Have you explored a Carnivore Diet and switch to fat-burning in your swims vs re-fuelling with carbs and sugar?
I have discussed the ketogenic option with my dietician but we sticking to what works so.well.for me. No need to change a good thing. That said, everyone is different so play and test and try till tou find what works best for you!
Hello and thank you for your videos!
Could you please tell me what you’re using to cover your face? Is it some sort of vaseline? cream?
thank you!
It was very informative, thank you. Can you suggest exercises before and after swim for long distance swim preparation and during the event.
Thank you- that is a very complex question, i will make some videos on some suggested things to do before a bug swim, afterwards its rest! during the event you are swimming so unless it is a multi day event there won't be a chance to do exercises!
Thanks so much for sharing this! Is there a reason you wouldn’t just wear a light wetsuit?
It's a pleasure. I try do my swims according to the gold standard of open water swimming which only allows swimming costume, goggles and cap
First and foremost - Great swim! I have to disagree with something, however; I do not think that layer of fat under the skin helps with keeping someone warm when it comes to swimming, let me explain. Fat can store temperature, which can help mitigate temperature changes, for instance its +40C outside fat will collect heat from outside or just a body temperature which is around +36C, and person starts swimming in 20C water, it will take longer for body to cool down inside the water due to thermal mass that fat stored just before getting into water (like any other material can do), I would assume it will take tens of minutes for water to work out that temperature stored in fat and since there is no walkout of the water, so no chance for fat to collect temperature, presumably outside is warmer than water. One could argue its harder to make a movement with extra fat which will result in producing more heat, but then I do not think of any benefits here, may as well just make more strokes. Other points like buoyancy and extra energy of course can be beneficial on such an event!
Thank you! Yes all valid points ou make and I agree, there is a fine balance between extra fat and weight and power to body ratio, having the extra fat does allow for it to be used as a reserve in longer and staged swims too. The warmth is debatable le but if you look at most cold water swimmers, they are larger tba yor warm water and pool swimmers. But you are right in that it is debatable in weather it keeps you warm
I think you need to pass on this wisdom to the whales and tell them they’ve got it wrong and don’t need their blubber for insulation after all!
@@NZL50505 wahahah
@@NZL50505 Those are perfectly aware of that, debate is ongoing between wales and octopuses
How long do each of your feeds take?
30 seconds to max 2minutes!
Loved it! I have a question, it has nothing to do with nutrition, but what do you do to protect your lips during such a long time in salty waters?
vaseline and special designed suncream that is eco friendly you can check out the extreme suncream on our
Did she say 19hrs?
Yes- 19 hours and 8 minutes
@@sarahferguson6946 I am beyond amazed 👏 and motivated. I want to try a 10k swim.
@@waltfit9235 awesome! I am sure you will smash it!
@@waltfit9235 Did you complete your 10k swim? And if you did, was it open water or in a lap pool?
What do you use the glycerine for?
Mouth wash to try help prevent salt mouth!
Hello Sarah Quick question, when you swim for too long in salt water you will feel something different on your tongue right? Can tear your tongue if you stay too long so any advice?
There is little you can really do to protect your mouth from too much salt water. However acclimatization works the best. Mouth wash helps temporarily
@@sarahferguson6946 what do you mean by that?
Erm how do you go to the toilet if you eat ?
you generally use what you eat- i have never needed the toilet for a number 2 before, urinating you go as you swim..
@@sarahferguson6946 incredible, I watch your videos in awe, I could never do anything like this, but in my fantasy I'm preparing all the time for the challenge!
