The wood is not so heavy but the metal roof is heavy enough to keep it down if you're not living in a windy area. We live in Emerald Coast and and we get a lot of wind, so we anchored it to the concrete patio. I'd assume in Texas you'd also need to anchor it like we did.

I think it's so cool that US people can put their flag on their houses/offices/schools and prouldy sing their national anthem. I'm german and I rarerly see any german flags at all (mostly football club flags and during football games). My grandfather is a man who is handy and my grandma always had an idea for something he could do. But he was happily married for 52 years. So I guess it's true what they say happy wife, happy life ! I built decks for 40 years. The last 10 years I refuse to build a deck that was not at least partially covered. Why? Because if you don't have shade you will rarely use your deck. With a roof your deck becomes a year-round extension of your home.

I was thinking the same thing, here in SD. That roof looks like a sail to me. It looks plenty heavy, but not anchored to the ground.
The wood is not so heavy but the metal roof is heavy enough to keep it down if you're not living in a windy area. We live in Emerald Coast and and we get a lot of wind, so we anchored it to the concrete patio. I'd assume in Texas you'd also need to anchor it like we did.
Correct - if you live in a windy area anchoring it is the best way to go.
