Can't even imagine all the sacrifices the students and parents from El Salvador made to train, raise money and serve in the parade. What a beautiful spirit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ beautiful and talented. Full of joy and hope!!!
Everything about this parade is just spectacular, especially the wholesome coverage and the message of hope. With the new year and the new decade, we all need a little hope to help us get through it. May you all have a Happy New Year!
Hi. I know I sound ungrateful in another comment, but I've watched in person in awe- truly incredible!! My gripe IS the media coverage: No respect for the bands nor each other. They try to make it about them in their banter. He has trouble talking and blows right over the woman's "Relatables." There appears to be no mic on the field for us to really listen to the bands, so when they say: "Let's listen," it's only a 1 second break in their incessant chattering. Sigh, lol... So- one year later- I wish you a Very Happy New Year ❣ May your reality surpass your dreams 💖🎉🎶🥂🙏🌹
@@artistaloca4 I totally agree with you. It's hard to enjoy the parade when our ears are assaulted with constant, meaningless chatter. I can decide for myself which entries I like without their opinions being shoved in my face. They only let us listen to the bands for a few seconds because the music takes away from their rolling, nonstop rhetoric. Somewhere on YT is a video of Macy's parade this year with NO hosting. Just camera work. It was like a breath of fresh air, and the number of 'likes' and 'views' seem to agree. I don't remember who posted it, but it was great.
Rewatching this in 2021 is a little bittersweet, but it's a reminder to never take anything for granted. So sad I didn't get to help decorate floats this year! It's so much work, it kills your hands and arms, and I'll never be able to erase the insanely sweet/lemongrass-y smell of onion seeds from my memory, but it's such an amazing experience and a beautiful event to be a part of. It's so amazing to watch the hours work of hundreds of vollunteers turn into something so incredibly beautiful. Wishing all of you a better year, and a reminder to have hope and remember how amazing life was and will be soon.
I don't know why, but I watch this parade every year over and over all day on the loop on KTLA. There is something very relaxing, very reassuring about it, I can't explain it.
Well, it is the main celebration of the New Year (along with that madhouse in Times Square which is not very relaxing :) Although the calendar is a human construct, we do assign some emotional significance to a new year. It is like a rebirth each year. That is one reason I think the theme this year is particularly good.
the best Rose Parade in the history of the parade - all 131 in number - it was truly all about US - the USA and the entire world around US - all of the bands that came to our country to share their talents with US - I can tell you because I've seen many of the parades in my lifetime, oh yes have - the float entries were out of this world indescribably gorgeous and the great deal of work went into their presentation - thank you everyone that presented this parade on the first day of 2020.
Great TOTAL coverage--this is the way that parades need to be televised... NBC missed about a quarter of the floats and other entries due to long commercial breaks and coverage of 'side shows'...

The Japan Green Band is a composite of individuals, which means that they are, at least in terms of the dance routines, limited to what the average band can do. I preferred it when they had the actual high school bands which trained together all year. On the plus side, unmentioned, the one legged flautist from the Kyoto Tachibana HS Band in 2018 is back with the Green Band (She graduated from Tachibana in 2018) Five and a half miles takes it out of most people. She is doing it for a secon time.
What a joy to be able to watch The Rose Parade live on my PC nearly every year since 1982/83 when we resided in Pasadena as a young family.Thanx to KTLA.

Me too, I love it and have also been watching it all my life - Being older I appreciate the visual and turn off the sound because I also appreciate the silence
I loved it too but what is all this "HOPE" stuff about? I had to stop and think what this means. It's a leftist (California, Hollywood) ideological construct. The assumption that you are oppressed and downtrodden somehow. And a narrative that says you should be giving more of your money away to "people that deserve it better than you", in other words keep paying high taxes and should be actually paying more. If you really care about something, want it done then "DO" don't "HOPE". It's like if I told me boss after he asks me "Are you going to get this done?", and I respond "I hope I will!". This year their float "Anchored in Jesus" was skipped in the tv coverage. Only Hallmark channel showed it. I flipped between channels and saw it for myself.

Thank you KTLA for uploading this to TH-cam! My TV provider (TH-cam TV) does not carry KTLA and trying to watch the parade on ABC was painful. No other broadcaster can compare to KTLA in covering the Rose Parade, which I've watched every New Year's Day for 40+ years. Even when I watch the parade in person, I re-watch it again on KTLA for their excellent coverage and commentary.

Spectacular camera angles, & detail and aerial views. Watching from South Texas. PCC alum, SGV my home from birth through 2010. KTLA the best broadcast, and I worked on the lot back in the day. Miss the activities leading up to the parade when I was local. And a happy birthday 🎂 to my mother, a new year's baby, and happy New year to all. Floats were extraordinarily beautiful this year. Good job Leeza & Mark.

Thank you so much, KTLA, for the coverage of the parade. I was so glad to find your live stream on FB earlier today. It was so great to be able view the beautiful floats and hear all of the bands without cutting away to a commercial about an upcoming program. I was particularly glad to see the band from West Harrison in Mississippi. I live in Mississippi and have followed the development of that band program. It's hard to believe that school was opened only 10 years ago. They had a very good band program from day 1 but have certainly made great strides each year and have become one of the top marching bands in their classification at state marching competition for the last several years. Thanks again for a job well-done.

Loved to see how much the Latin people were recognized this year!! Love it!!
Go Rancho! So proud to see so many of my former students.

Saludos desde Guayaquil Ecuador. Desde hace mas de 35 años he tenido por tradicion ver este desfile y ahora como migrante venezolano lo disfruto gracias a ustedes
Agree!!!

This is my favorite annual parade - much better than NYC Thanksgiving. I forgot to watch last year so 2021's being cancelled was a great time to watch this one instead. Thanks for the full coverage. You had great commentators.
Great to see the Salvation Army Marching band again this year. 👍
Happy New Year 2022 from Costa Rica, to the whole world
