You seem to have been a permanent fixture as editor of the quarterly for me for many years but when I found you on u tube giving this simplistic but ausome presentation on history and prophecy I was blown away.. I will never be the same again after understanding the value and validity of this unchanging sequence of events which is our only foundation reference place and platform for our fundamental understanding of daniel and the 2300. One of the last books that Desmond Ford released before he passed away is entitled *_The Investigative Judgement and the Everlasting Gospel"_* . Compared to his 1000 page manuscript that caused quite a storm back 1979-80, this condensed summation is only 118 pages long. Well worth the read for every Adventist.

He began to say how ALL Bible commentaries always point to Antiochus IV Epiphanes being the “Little Horn” power in Daniel. Then said if your Seventh-Day Adventist pastor says that… then the screen went black for 3 minutes. I would really like to know what that point was!!! Can somebody please help? 😮😢😊 Thank you 😊 🙏
Most important thing to know is that the Bible commentaries are incorrect. The little horn power in Daniel is the papacy. No other power or person meets all of the identifying criteria given in the scriptures.
Just subtract 457 from 2300.. there's no way you're going to get to 1844. That's the amazing fact! A true prophet never realized this is a total demonic joke!!!
I enjoyed his study, and his testimony. I have been trying to figure out how to make 1844 easier to understand for non-believers. It can be a very lengthy study, and people do not have the attention span to detail that they once had. A friend quoted a study that says people now have an attention span of 3 seconds, which is about like a gnat. It is very hard to give a 3 second Bible study. That is likely caused by technology.

If he did that, it would answer your 2 questions. HOWEVER, he had to take a 3.5 hour presentation and boil it down to the alloted time he was given, one (1) hour. :)

@billybari8081 in response to question 1. He placed the 538-1798 in reference to Daniel 7. In Daniel 7:25 the time prophecy of "time, times and the dividing of time" this is the only time prophecy in Daniel 7 and hence he placed the year in the period to which it applies.

With regards to 1844 and the 2,300-year belief which is the basis of the whole investigative judgement doctrine, reading all of Daniel chapter 8 is required to understand verse 14. When reading verse 14 in context it is obvious that the 2,300 evenings and mornings mentioned before the sanctuary is properly restored is referring to the temple in Jerusalem. I say that it is obvious since verse 11 and 12 mention the cessation of daily sacrifices. Animal sacrifices were never performed in heaven. In verse 13 one holy one asks another holy one when the daily sacrifices will be restored. The answer is given in verse 14-2,300 evenings and mornings. In the original Hebrew the word for day (yom) is not used. Instead, evenings and mornings are used probably because the daily sacrifices were performed in the evening and the morning which is the concern in this passage. Between the time of this prophecy (551 BC) and AD 70 there is only one event that matches this prophecy. This occurred when Antiochus Epiphanes IV invaded Jerusalem and stopped the daily sacrifices for over three years. Unlike the Babylonians who destroyed the temple in 586 BC, Antiochus did not destroy the temple, but he desecrated it. This included stealing all the vessels, tools, and the veil from the temple, forbidding the Jews to enter the temple, forbidding the observance of the Sabbath and the feast days, placing an image of Zeus in the holy place, destroying all the copies of the Torah that he could find, and sacrificing a pig(s) on the altar. After Antiochus was driven out of Jerusalem, the temple was restored (cleansed), rededicated, and daily sacrifices then were resumed. Also, in chapter 8 the approximate time is given when this will occur which is after Greece conquers the Median-Persian Empire and after the death of the first king (Alexander the Great) who was the large horn on the goat (verse 21). This was to occur after the first Grecian Empire that Alexander established was replaced with four lesser kingdoms which came from Alexander’s empire (verse 22). From one of these kingdoms the little horn arises (verse 9). Again, this fits Antiochus Epiphanes IV (because he came from one of the four horns) and no one else.

The way the Jews counted the years, and even in our time period, is that there is no such thing as "0 BC" For example, once the year 1 BC came, the next year would be 1 AD. Therefore subtracting 457 from 2,300 is an incorrect way to calculate this; you must count according to calendar years. It's okay, I too use to be in disbelief until I studied for myself. Please fact check me yourself and you will see and understand that this is correct.

The notion that the burden of "finishing the work" is exclusively an SDA burden is not reflected in John 10:16 and smacks of exclusivity put forth by Adventism. What you're missing is Jesus told you to understand this in Matthew 24:15. The question was what would happen( at the very end of time. )!He told you this is the abomination of desolation (standing in the holy place.).. and at that point in time the people in Judea are to flee.. I have asked multiple Seventh-day Adventists about how they come to the conclusion that Christ entered into some second atonement process, and then began to make some investigative judgement starting exactly on October 22, 1844. They always stumble and fumble trying to make a case for it, and then eventually commend me to read some book on the subject or listen to some lecture online. I then ask them, why, if they can't even explain it to me, why should they expect me to believe in it? Most Adventists just blindly believe in this doctrine and simply trust what their leaders have to say. Given that *no one else in all of Christianity has ever come to this conclusion* , it is no small wonder that your average Adventists has a difficult time explaining it. You see, when counting from the BC era to the AD era, there is no such thing as "0 BC." For example, once the year 1 BC came, the next year would be 1 AD, not "0 BC." Therefore subtracting 457 from 2,300 or counting the years down till zero, is an incorrect way to calculate this; you must count according to calendar years. I too use to be in disbelief until I studied for myself, both in terms of how the calendars work and history. Please fact check me yourself, each of you on this thread. God bless you

He began to say how ALL Bible commentaries always point to Antiochus IV Epiphanes being the “Little Horn” power in Daniel. I enjoyed his study, and his testimony. I have been trying to figure out how to make 1844 easier to understand for non-believers. It can be a very lengthy study, and people do not have the attention span to detail that they once had. A friend quoted a study that says people now have an attention span of 3 seconds, which is about like a gnat. It is very hard to give a 3 second Bible study. That is likely caused by technology.

@billybari8081 in response to question 1. He placed the 538-1798 in reference to Daniel 7. In Daniel 7:25 the time prophecy of "time, times and the dividing of time" this is the only time prophecy in Daniel 7 and hence he placed the year in the period to which it applies.

With regards to 1844 and the 2,300-year belief which is the basis of the whole investigative judgement doctrine, reading all of Daniel chapter 8 is required to understand verse 14.
When reading verse 14 in context it is obvious that the 2,300 evenings and mornings mentioned before the sanctuary is properly restored is referring to the temple in Jerusalem. I say that it is obvious since verse 11 and 12 mention the cessation of daily sacrifices. Animal sacrifices were never performed in heaven.
In verse 13 one holy one asks another holy one when the daily sacrifices will be restored. The answer is given in verse 14-2,300 evenings and mornings. In the original Hebrew the word for day (yom) is not used. Instead, evenings and mornings are used probably because the daily sacrifices were performed in the evening and the morning which is the concern in this passage.
Between the time of this prophecy (551 BC) and AD 70 there is only one event that matches this prophecy. This occurred when Antiochus Epiphanes IV invaded Jerusalem and stopped the daily sacrifices for over three years. Unlike the Babylonians who destroyed the temple in 586 BC, Antiochus did not destroy the temple, but he desecrated it. This included stealing all the vessels, tools, and the veil from the temple, forbidding the Jews to enter the temple, forbidding the observance of the Sabbath and the feast days, placing an image of Zeus in the holy place, destroying all the copies of the Torah that he could find, and sacrificing a pig(s) on the altar. After Antiochus was driven out of Jerusalem, the temple was restored (cleansed), rededicated, and daily sacrifices then were resumed.
Also, in chapter 8 the approximate time is given when this will occur which is after Greece conquers the Median-Persian Empire and after the death of the first king (Alexander the Great) who was the large horn on the goat (verse 21). This was to occur after the first Grecian Empire that Alexander established was replaced with four lesser kingdoms which came from Alexander’s empire (verse 22). From one of these kingdoms the little horn arises (verse 9). Again, this fits Antiochus Epiphanes IV (because he came from one of the four horns) and no one else.

The way the Jews counted the years, and even in our time period, is that there is no such thing as "0 BC" For example, once the year 1 BC came, the next year would be 1 AD. Therefore subtracting 457 from 2,300 is an incorrect way to calculate this; you must count according to calendar years. It's okay, I too use to be in disbelief until I studied for myself. Please fact check me yourself and you will see and understand that this is correct.

The notion that the burden of "finishing the work" is exclusively an SDA burden is not reflected in John 10:16 and smacks of exclusivity put forth by Adventism.

I like his honesty and how he became an SDA. I don't entirely understand the 1844 thing, but have become convinced that SDA is the right way to go. But he is right about the need for validity on 1844.

What you're missing is Jesus told you to understand this in Matthew 24:15. The question was what would happen( at the very end of time. )!He told you this is the abomination of desolation (standing in the holy place.).. and at that point in time the people in Judea are to flee.. The little horn in Daniel as Antiochus IV Epiphanes has been held since the days of the early church. Even the Jews have thought that the prophecy of Daniel 8 was fulfilled in the Maccabean revolt against Antiochus Epiphanies who had desecrated the temple from 168 to 165 BC.
Dan 8:14 _“For 2,300 evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state"_ (Two sacrifices daily sacrifices gives us 1150 days).
For a period of 3 years, 1150 days, the temple was desecrated by Antiochus, then through the Maccabean revolt it was restored and rededicated. The Jews to this day celebrate this victory as Hanukkah, the Jewish festival commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem and subsequent rededication of the Second Temple. It is also known as the *Festival of Dedication* .
Importantly, per the Gospel of John, Jesus was in the temple courts during this festival with *no rebuke of those Jews celebrating it* .
John 10:22-24: _"Then came the _*_Festival of Dedication_*_ at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Jesus was in the temple courts walking in Solomon’s Colonnade. The Jews who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly"_ .
[These same Jews asked this question because they were expecting the Messiah to arrive around that time, as per the prediction of the 70 weeks of Daniel 9].
Considers this: If Jesus knew that the prophecy of Daniel 8:14 wouldn't actually be fulfilled until He entered the heavenly sanctuary in 1844, *certainly He would have rebuked these Jews for celebrating it's false fulfillment of the Maccabean revolt* .[He would have said something like "You Jews have it all wrong! I have asked multiple Seventh-day Adventists about how they come to the conclusion that Christ entered into some second atonement process, and then began to make some investigative judgement starting exactly on October 22, 1844. They always stumble and fumble trying to make a case for it, and then eventually commend me to read some book on the subject or listen to some lecture online. I then ask them, why, if they can't even explain it to me, why should they expect me to believe in it?
Most Adventists just blindly believe in this doctrine and simply trust what their leaders have to say. Given that *no one else in all of Christianity has ever come to this conclusion* , it is no small wonder that your average Adventists has a difficult time explaining it.

@@jimbob1644 Actually Bob, the calculation is correct. The answer is in how the way the Jews counted the years, and this is even true in our time period. You see, when counting from the BC era to the AD era, there is no such thing as "0 BC." For example, once the year 1 BC came, the next year would be 1 AD, not "0 BC." Therefore subtracting 457 from 2,300 or counting the years down till zero, is an incorrect way to calculate this; you must count according to calendar years. I too use to be in disbelief until I studied for myself, both in terms of how the calendars work and history. Please fact check me yourself, each of you on this thread. God bless you
