This is what I recall to console myself when I’m unable to pray, fast or read the Quran. Syeikh Omar Sulaiman said that you are essentially obeying Allah’s command by not doing these acts of ibadah when you are menstruating. And when you obey Allah, that is an act of worship in itself. And Allah will Insha Allah reward you for obeying His commands ❤
Alhamdulillah. Thank youu. ❤
Salamun Alaikum, how are you obeying Him if as far as I know He never prohibited these things for you in the Quran?
@@monaafni7693 Waalaikum Salaam. Our source of hidayah and guidance is not only limited to the Quran. It is an obligation for us to take heed of the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) sunnah and Hadith. There are narrations that can be taken from the seerah as well, that mention of the prohibitions of certain acts of ibadah for the women while in the state of menstruation. It is even mentioned in the seerah that women should not rush to take their ghusl before attaining purity from menstruation, as narrated by Aisha (RA). When she was asked about this, it is reported that she said one should wait until one sees her discharge turn from dirty-coloured to white before taking ghusl, and to not rush the matter. Of course, there are acts of ibadah that one can do without any ambiguity while in the state of menstruation, such as making du’a and dhikr, giving charity, listening to Quran recitation. And Allah knows best.
because menstruation is impurity, @@monaafni7693

I used to hear Quran during my kitchen works.its helping me to by heart Quran

I was worried about the listening part. I heard a scholar say that one must sit down and listen to the quran recitation keenly and must not be doing other things. Hearing dr haifaa say that we can listen during working and doing chores make me releaved coz it helped me memorize the tajweed and recitation . I recommend it coz it really helps with memorization
I heard the same opinion and stopped listening to Quran while doing other thing so that I don’t disrespect Allah’s words. That made me lose my momentum and go far away from reading the Quran.
@@jesminaktar4816 People learn and memorise things differently, a method may work for one person but not for the other, its important to try different methods to see which one helps you the most, I mostly memorise by continuously looking, repeating and reading the ayat or surah by in a quiet place.
maybe he thought of this verse: "And when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy." (7:204)
But at the same time, if we're playing it while doing other things, we're still listening and paying attention, cause if not, we wouldn't be able to memorise it. @@monaafni7693

This was so insightful! I didnt know if we read the translation we get the reward of reading the Quran in arabic?
I will not read the quran from the phone during periods.. i belive so ..
I can do dhikr, listen quran much more… i can wait for 7 days .

@@mrs.dazai_ Don’t worry sister, it’s okay. Both opinions have got substantial scholarship. Stick to what you have been taught.
And, The prophet ﷺ said, Actions are according to intentions so you will still be rewarded for your intention.
A menstruating woman can:
1) Listen to the Quran, ponder about its meanings, and cry.
2) Buy a supplication book and make constant dhikr.
3) Send blessings on our beloved Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace).
4) Spend time with her family and loved ones for the sake of Allah.
5) Attend religious lectures and classes.
6) Read about the righteous and pray to be of them.
7) Supplicate for whatever she wishes.
8 ) Beg for forgiveness and the pardon of her sins.
9) Get involved in her local community and help others.
10) Reflect about her life and thank Allah for all her blessings.
Though these acts may seem simplistic, no one knows how Allah will weigh one’s works on the Day of Judgment. Surely, a deed that is done with an open heart and presence of mind for WHO one is worshipping is most deserving of reward.
We get a lot of reward for obeying the commands

TOUCHING THE QURAN
Scholars of fiqh agree that someone who is not purified CANNOT touch the Quran because Allah says in the Quran “None shall touch it except the purified” (Waqiah: 79). This includes the junub (sexually impure), the menstruating woman, as well as someone without wudhu.

Imam Abu Hanifa has considered it to be unlawful (Hidaya; Fathul Qadeer vol.1 pg. 148).
Imam Shafi has considered it to be haram and unlawful. This is also the opinion of the great scholars from the Sahabahs and Tabieen like Umar (RA), Ali (RA), Jabir (RA), Hasan Basri, Qatada, Ata, Abul Aaliya, An Nakhi, Saeed bin Jubair, Zuhri, Ishaq and Abu Thaur. (Al Majmoo Sharhul Muhazab vol. 3 pg.282).
With respect to the opinion of Imam Ahmad, Imam Tirmizi has recorded him from among those who state that a woman in menses should not recite the Holy Quran, (Tirmizi Chap. ‘What is mentioned about a woman in menses and on in Janabah (major ritual impurity) should not recite the Quran)’.
Imam An Nawawi has also stated that one of the opinions of Imam Ahmad and Imam Malik is that it is unlawful(haram) for a woman in menses to recite Quran. (Al Majmoo Sharhul Muhazab vol. 3 pg.282).
In Al Mughni, Ibn Qudama has mentioned that the established Mazhab of Imam Ahmad is that a woman in her menses is prohibited from reciting Al Quran. (Al Mughni vol.1 pg144).

Shukran habiibi, i had this question for a long time. But am a Quran student, some times am given work during ma p days and i have to present it. What shd i do?
From this explaination, we see that from among the four great Imams of Fiqh, only Imam Malik has given an allowance for the menstruating woman to recite Quran. All the others have ruled that she is prohibited from doing so. The evidence for these scholars is a tradition of the Prophet (SAS) which has been recorded by Imam Trimizi, from the tradition of Abdullah bin Umar (RA). This tradition states that Ibn Umar said, ‘the Prophet (SAS) said a woman in menses and a person in Janabah must not read anything from the Quran’. (Tirmizi, Abu Dawood, Ibn Majah).
Having recorded this tradition, Imam Tirmizi said, ‘This is the statement of most of the scholars from the companions of the Prophet (SAS), the Tabi’een and those after them like Sufyan Thauri, Abdullah bin Mubarak, Imam Shafi, Imam Ahmad, Ishaq’. (Tirmizi Chap. ‘A woman in menses and person in Janabah (major impurity) must not read the Quran).
Although some scholars have considered the above tradition to be weak on account of one of its narrators Isma’eel bin Ayaash, those who have mentioned prohibition have referred to the tradition in which it is clearly evident that a person who is in the state of Janabah (major ritual impurity ) must not read the Quran. In this regard, the tradition of Ali (RA) has been quoted, which states that Ali (R.A.) said ‘The Messenger of Allah (SAS) would recite Quran to us in all states except when he was in Janabah (major ritual impurity being in the state of sexual pollution) (Imam Tirmizi recorded this and then said, ‘This hadith is good and sound Chapter-A man can recite Quran in all states except in the state of Janabah. Ibn Hibban has also considered it to be Saheeh (sound)). Hakim has also considered it Saheeh (sound). Abu Dawood, Nasai and Ibn Majah have also recorded it (Tuhfatul Ahwazi vol.1 pg.476)

I don't know why people are not realizing that phone(modern times), paper, bones, leaves (ancient time) is a tool to deliver message. Firstly, Quran is not came as text form, it came as sound form, if it is came as text through Jibril then for argument sake we can reconsider that we should not touch the book during menstruation. Secondly, Quran does not came as one shot as whole book, it came little by little as sound form for 23 years, When it comes Prophet would ask Sahaba to write it down, those time there is no paper like today. Thirdly, if you read the verse 56 from here,
77. It is a noble Quran.
78. In a well-protected Book.
79. None can grasp it except the purified.
80. A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
It clearly talks about a well protected book which is there in heaven, that cannot be touched by unauthorized being, not the books which we are using right now in form of paper, usbdrive, cds , dvds may be in future hands free. Allah knows everything, Quran 13:9. The Knower of the Invisible and the Visible; the Grand, the Supreme.
So, please do not misguide women, this will loose them from getting amplified rewards by reading the Quran this blessed month.
Additionally, most the words we read, write everyday is from Quran like Allah, Heaven, Hell, Sheitan etc. Are we going to say to women stay away from these words?
Quran 5:87. O you who believe! Do not prohibit the good things God has permitted for you, and do not commit aggression. God does not love the aggressors.
Sahaba used to write the revelations that came on camel skin, banana leaves etc.
absolutely correct.
The words we use daily are from the ARABIC language which was choosen to be the language of Quran (these words are not the Quran itself)... and we cannot recite complete verses of Quran but we can break it into 3 and read in gaps as it will not make a complete ayat which is prohibited to read.

SubhanAllah... what about those of us doing hifdh? How to not revise? (revision/reviews/new lessons cant be done without lip and tongue movements) And that too every month for a week or more?
I'm not knowledgeable at all, but I always think Allah won't deprive us of His words, evey month.. what if a woman passes away in a state of menstruation? Means she couldn't recite the Quran in her last days... I'm no one, but I always have the thought that Allah is very merciful and His words, His deen dont seem something He'll deprive His women salves of..

My dear, it's about submission. We pray when Allah wants us to pray, we don't pray when He prevents us from praying. Yes, our tongues may earn to recite His book during those days but we only stop ourselves for Allah. This is a great sincere action inshaa Allah. Remember, actions are judged by their intentions.
As for hifdh, it can definitely be done inshaa Allah. Al hamdu lillah I went through the same journey. All I can say is that you just have to adjust your hifdh schedule to accommodate your special days. Make sure you revise thoroughly during your pure days and after finishing your period you can revise the last month's portions and check if all is good. If some portions are weak then you just repeat again. It takes a bit longer but that's not a problem inshaa Allah.
I also like to watch a hadr recitation with the mushaf simultaneously on the screen. It's very useful mashaa Allah. Look up شيخ أحمد ديبان حدر here on TH-cam.
May Allah make it easy for all of us. Ameen ya Rabb.

What about saying the daily morning and evenings Athkar (ayatu al Kursi, Al ekhlas, al falaq, Annas)? Can we recite those surahs?
Same question
Yes the duas and surahs of Quran to be read for protection as in morning and evening azkar can be recited... jo prohibition for that.
Salam a3leykoum. Question: what about the translation of the qur'an? I heard about the fact that we can read the qur'an with translation of rhe verses because it's not THE qur'an in full arabic. What is the opinion?
Wa laikumus salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu
Yes u can
Can someone clearly type the answer for this question? Not clear
Agreed I didn’t get it neither
We can read in menstruation but can't touch the holy book.
Read from phone
It is said that during menstruation, women still can read the Quran from the phone/ tablet,if a woman insist to read Quran from the holy book(mushaf) she can,but she's not allowed to touch the mushaf.
Of course it wont be clear she doesnt know what the hell she is talking about. The Quran CANNOT be read in me struation, the only ayahs that can be read are the ones that are in of itself a dua and the intention MUST be that its a dua.

Is there anything about PMS in Islam
Her explanation just make me more confused than i was before
So please anyone explain...
So we can't recite al quran at all?? Dr haifa said you can't, but you can read it as long you don't move your lips.
So i can't do morning& afternoon dzikir?? There's ayatul kursi, al ikhlas, al Falaq, an nas there
What about dua before sleep??
I used to recite two last surah al Baqarah, and al Mulk before sleep
And read Al kahf on Friday
So it's prohibited???
Please anyone explain..
From what I understood, she is saying that if you are menstruating then you can’t recite the Quran out loud. You allowed to read it in your head with your eyes but do not move your tongue and vocalize the Quran.
She didn’t talk about du’a or dhikr but there should be no issue with making du’a or doing dhikr of Allah because the ruling is specifically about the Quran. You might want to double check this with your local sheikh/sheikha. Hope this helped!
@@muryumquadri9154 and how about recite two last surah Al Baqarah? Al Mulk? Al kahf on friday?
So it's prohibited right?
Since it's not part of dzikr
@@aqilagravilla4002 as salam aleikum sister! The hadeeth is considered weak. Since everyone has their own opinions and there many different ones even among scholars and since there is no direct prohibition in the Quran, listen to what your heart says. Would Allah want to leave you without Quran and ability to protect yourself from any harm by doing adhkar for almost a week during the holiest month of the year so that you would fall behind spiritually? If you feel the answer is yes then stay away from it. If you think that Allah wants you to recite His book and come close to Him then please do not listen to what this Sheikh said or that Sheikh said, just do what you normally would do in your regular days and to be on a safe side, avoid touching the physical Quran with your bare hands while on period and recite from memory or your phone. This is what I have been personally doing for years. And Allah knows best
If I read a novel without moving my lips does that mean I’m actually not reading the novel? Please for gods sake! Who are we kidding?!
Reading a book from kindle/ipad or the book itself, does it really matter?! Same words same meaning…
The holy book was sent to us for guidance. We shall read to be guided. Not to move lips or tongue or whatever(!) To actually understand and apply to one’s life! Why should one not be guided just because she is on her period? This belief of women being “impure” during period comes from the Jews and their cultural way of living, please do your research.
How is period different versus bodily fluids or defecation? If the hands are sanitized
A wudu is preferred in all scenarios, so no point comparing.
If reading from mobile, without moving lips n tongue, is not considered as reading, then should this part be considered as part of khatamah?
Like if I recite one juzz during my periods from mobile, will it considered as part of khatamah?
Personally I am of the opinion NO,
I better listen to Quran n do azkaar, but for khatamah, I will not count these days.
She CAN read/recite the Quran.
This is the opinion of Ibn Taymiyyah, ibn Qayyim, Imam Malik, Bukhari, and one opinion of Imam Ash Shafii as well as many other scholars. Their argument is that the hadith mentioned above is Daeef (weak). In fact, the hadith is considered weak by almost all scholars of Hadith and therefore cannot be used in order to make a fiqh ruling. So women may recite or read the Quran, either from memory or from the Quran mushaf (book) itself.
So how can she read the Quran?
1) Use a barrier (glove, towel, pen) so that her hand doesn’t directly touch the Quran
2) Read it off of a tablet or phone as these are not considered the Quran, but rather devices that have the Quran in them.
3)Read a book which has Tafseer/translation in it - as that is not considered the Quran mushaf (book) either. Even if it contains the Arabic, if half is tafseer/translation, it is permissible for an impure person to hold
But what if someone is trying to memorize ( hifz) - can she not memorize it during menstruation and read to her ustaadha the sabaq ?
U can do It with gloves

How to donate for polistin... anyone knows any website / link.. please suggest...
Yes you can donate in fact should must donate for them as they are in very critical situation
I will send you links how to send donations this is authentic u can trust for any query u can ask anything
What if you wear gloves and read it from the kitaab is that permissible because that’s what they do at our Quran class
What I have understood is that it's about spiritual tahara. Our body is clean. But spiritually we need to make ghusl. So we cannot touch Mushaf even with gloves on. And Allah knows it best.
I watched a clip where Dr.zakir naik said that we can read quran while wearing gloves
But Im doing hifdh and it becomes hard bcz of the gap days I forget the memorized verses. What to do?

@@aqilagravilla4002I am not sure about what she said either, but what you do depends on which imaam you follow.
I am from the hanafi maslak, and if you wish to know, then reading aayatul kursi, ikhlaas, falak, naas for your protection is acceptable, however you must be aware that you won’t be rewarded for the recitation. Because you can intend to read it for your protection, not with the intention of receiving award.

Hear a schooler say the reading r of the Quran from the physical & the phone is not permitted cos the words r as important as the physical book.
So was asking myself during the time time of the Prophet pboh did the women listen to the Quran recitation during the menstruation?
The Quran in the time of The Prophet pbuh was not in a form of mushaf yet, it was not a book yet. So there could not be an ayah nor a hadith about touching The Quran. The one that is mentioned in The Quran was Lauhul Mahfuzh.
Can we read English translation during mensus. Only English translation and no Quran if verses.
