Another great informative video! I built a Zero and with a .46 size glow she needed 1 lb of nose weight. I'm not a fan of adding weight so I bumped up to a .61 size motor. Problem solved. Another plane needed tail weight with a .46 glow. Dropped to a .40 glow, no weight needed and she flys like a dream.
Ah, the walk of shame. Sucks when you can't look cool and have your plane taxi off. 🤣 I usually have a mix for full up elevator and aileron deflection for taxi on/offs. 😉
Good morning and another excellent video! May I make a suggestion? When describing problems and the symptoms, edit some B-roll footage into your video, showing what you're describing. That'll keep peoples' interest and will show them exactly what you mean. You can use a free editor like Davinci Resolve to do this.
All I fly is warbirds gas 60 size plus, every one has needed quite a bit of nose weight. One ESM plane I have my awesome 72” Hellcat has almost 2 lbs of led in it. There is nothing wrong with that. It is needed. I do have a question what does it mean when your plane shows balance but does NOT teeter totter, push on nose it drops push on tail it drops, bring it to level it stays. Most of my planes using a Great Planes balancer will rock back to level they fly great. Others usually don’t last long. What causes that? Improper balance point from the manufacturer? Any suggestions? I fly mainly warbirds and scale planes T.F. ESM so on.
Ok.... this is a great question with no solid answer. 2lbs is crazy, and cannot possibly help it fly better. It is an insane amount of weight when the nose is pointed down. IT must balance though. Problem is that possibly not I identifying the proper CG. YOu must fly inverted at a 45 degree angle at 2/3 throttle. If nose goes down, it is not balanced. even if spot on the manual. CG is individual airframe oriented. 9 times out of ten when I test a plane where owner used a lot of nose weight and say it is perfect, I test and end up removing 80% of the weight. It must fly inverted with little elevator to level off. Just be careful with that much weight. Makes no sense if you think about it.
@@MichaelWargo Hi Mike thank you for your input but I’m not touching my Hellcat. And in inverted flight it needs very little elevator to hold level. But I will try it on a 45* climb. But It teeter totters right back to level every time. The problem I have were it does not teeter totter is with other planes. I also agree that the manufacturer suggested CG is wrong, but trying to find the right cg is a problem. Thank you again. And maybe at some point make a video about power. Too many guys I know think any plane should take off in 3 feet and go straight up. If it doesn’t underpowered. It sends smoke from my ears. 3D planes yes but scale planes need to build lift. Oh once again nice job with the 60 cc Tucano

3:16-3:45: Is the guy killing turf grubs on the runway? He’s dedicated himself to not walking out there!

Hahaha I burst out laughing when that plane started doing that in the background. I got it this time, nope!..

Am I crazy, or is this video a little short?

You're crazy and it is short.
The video is cut short…
Interesting as always. But it stopped all of a sudden, before you were finished talking 🙄

Not your best video. The nose over guy was persistent though...........
