This was a fantastic explanation! Honestly, I think the video is really good for anyone just trying to understand hockey better. He explains very well. The in game example at the end using a video game for reference was honestly better than I would have expected! 10 out of 10, highly recommended ☺️
Quick, to the point, no filler explanation. Icing and offsides can be hard to catch while watching in person. Especially while drinking beers at the game. Thanks.
A better explanation for why offsides and icing exist - OFFSIDES - Without this rule, you could simply have one or more of your players camping out in the opponent's area and wait for a pass to then score. By requiring the puck to come in first, it gives the defense time to set up for a 'charge' of incoming offensive players. ICING - This rule prevents stalling, or 'turtling.' Let's say you score a goal and now it's 1-0 with your team in the lead. Without the icing rule, your team could simply obtain possession and launch the puck down the ice every time, requiring the opposing team to return to their side, retrieve it, then come in for another drive. While you fire the puck away, your team could get fresh bodies on the ice and just keep doing this strategy for the remainder of the game.
I was watching other tutorials and none of them made sense, but this one ... I now feel like I have all the knowledge in the world about ice hockey!!! Thanks dude!
I liked how this guy was right to the point and explained everything very well without a lot of extra stuff added. As a new ice hockey fan, I appreciate how this video was short and to the point. The visuals and examples really helped alot. Thank you.
I was shook how well explained that was but what you called "just a penalty" is a penalty shot and it is when a player gets fall while being on a breakaway, wich means there were no players between him and the goal. Also, penalty killers are allowed to ice the puck, but that is not really important. Good job!
Clear and concise explanation of the game of hockey with verbal and pictoral examples that allow for full understanding without any wasted time. Very well executed. Thank you!
GREAT Video!!! I ***LOVE*** watching Hockey, but I wasn't sure what all the Penalties and Rules are. You did a GREAT JOB of explaining everything!!! THANK YOU!!! 😃👍👍 Tampa Bay Lightning WIN THE CUP AGAIN THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!! ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Many thanks to you my friend. I was invited to a sharks game in my hometown and i had no previous idea about the rules and you just made these rules very clear and easy to understand no i will go to the game talking as a pro. Best to you from California
Amazing video.. i got to understand icing after this.. nice one..the only "american sport" i didn't know properly.. thanks man.. now i can umderstand the matches
This was very interesting. I went to watch my first game a couple weeks ago, and though I got the jist of it, this has helped me learn some of the more technical rules. Great video. Thanx!
Thank you! Can you elaborate little bit on what do you mean by ore detailed rules? The deeper I go the longer video becomes and I am not sure if people would have patience to watch long videos. I have made F1 rules and that is 20+ min Please share little bit more about your suggestion. I will be happy to incorporate your feedback😊
@@TheSchoolOfSports Yeah I understand that. But there can be so many ways in which a foul can happen, so many ways in which a (about to be) home run becomes a catch out as the catcher leans over the wall....some of these details would be really good I think! I will check out your American football videos next! Again, keep doing the awesome stuff!
@@apratimvideos Got you! I have 2 parts of american football. Part 1 is high level for introduction and Part 2 is more detailed one, I think you will love the part 2. You seems to a person who wants to know the depth of the game so part 2 would be much more fun for you. Let me know your experience of watching part 1 and part 2.
New to hockey at age 23 (not too late I hope) and watched my home team play and win this year (MN Wild. 2nd in our division) It’s a great sport and I’m hoping to learn how to skate and then play hockey in the future in a rec league
On the thumbnail, the hard one could either A: be caught (player gets the puck using their stick to block it) or deflected by the enemy team or GK, or B: miss entirely and the player who shot it may get callled for icing, and face-off on their side would occur
Very interesting video. Though i have been a huge hockey for nearly 20 years now just wanted to see what a noob might wanna know. by the way whats the video game & console?
There is substitute limit... there is a max of 2 goalies and 18 players. Ebug (emergency back up goalie) can be used if both goalies are injured. Typically there are 4 offensive lines (3 players on a line) and 3 defensive lines (2 players onca line) but it's hasn't stopped coaches having 7 defensive players and 11 offensive player
I know NHL Stanley Cup trophy name MLB NBA NHL NFL Their owners and I know NCAA Very glad to see you also know about NHL Because I thought out of 1.4 billion people I am the only one who knows about that
Regarding the icing part: Doesn't a player have to be behind their own blue line for icing to be called? Like I think you can hit it past both red lines and it won't be called icing IF you are at least past your own blue line (the blue line in your own territory).
Good explanation, but you use a couple of soccer terms interchangeably; ie. dribbling. Learn true ice hockey terms and how each line is used, and your video would be 💯
Offisides is wrong. The faceoff is the closest area from where the puck originated. No ground advantage. Also, its not called a foul, it is a infraction or penalty. Penalty shots are given if 1. Player covers/mives puck in crease (defense player) or 2. Player is on breakaway and is interfered with to prevent the breakaway.
Indian dudes got tutorials for everything,

True
Yes but he never thought of offsides
I went from knowing nothing to everything except what fouls are major and minor in the length of this video.
Quick, to the point, no filler explanation. Icing and offsides can be hard to catch while watching in person. Especially while drinking beers at the game. Thanks.
