The point he is making here, regardless of political views or the fact that he’s an actor, is that the children are what’s important here. Adults need to take more responsibility.

Why was he smiling while giving this speech? 🧐 They were killed because the whole thing was orchestrated. They purposefully killed kids where Matthew is from so that he could speak out against guns. If Matthew was from Houston, the shooting would have been in Houston. Kids were purposefully sacrificed. The whole thing is disgusting.

Yes, we need to do something about the mental health issues in America. A individual that can do something this horrible, has to have a mental health issue. Switzerland has the highest number of guns and a super low gun related issues. Everyone knows that a free nation has to allow citizens to be able to regulate themselves. But how do we fix a mental health problem.

Exactly? I’m an elementary teacher in Ontario, Canada. I have practiced for fire drills on many occasions. We have had school lockdowns, usually because of police activity in the area of the school, not AY the school. What I have yet to do is take part in an active shooter drill.
Unlike how life was when I was a child who attended schools in Ontario, exterior school doors are locked, as a safety measure, but I don’t go to school with the worry of a possible active shooter hovering over my head.

The majority of mass shootings are done in gun free zones that are in states/areas where gun control is extremely strict and the majority of the time the guns used were not legally obtained by the lunatic shooting. Now more mental health support actually will make a differences because these people who don't hear mass shootings are mentally unstable people. Control it a terrible word to use, we need to promote proper responsible ownership. Raising the age to 21 is an excellent start, it's not control but a 21 year old is typically much more stable than an 18 year old. Mental help in schools and beyond needs to be vastly improved and more affordable. I don't support teachers with guns but there are thousands of service men and women who would gladly take a job to risk their lives to stand guard at our schools.

Considering the amount of legal guns that there are in this country compared to the amount of crimes commited with those legal guns, I'd say we have very responsible gun owners. You will never stop the mentally ill from getting their hands on a gun if they want to cause damage. And if its not a gun, it will eventually be something else to cause damage. I'm sure there were plenty of alcoholics when they banned booze 100 years ago. Well guess what, those people still found a way to get a drink.
Tackle the real problem in this country and thats inner city illegal gun crime. That is where 99 percent of the crimes come from and make our numbers look awful. Children are dying every day from those types of shooting's in multiple numbers all over the country. But most people only really seem to care when it happens to multiple children in one location at one time. from a legal gun.

Hello. l'm from Canada and, without a doubt, l found this speech to be extremely moving, even though gun violence, indeed almost any type of violence, doesn't seem to plague our country to the extent it does the USA. Of course as Canadians, we share much linguistically, politically, culturally, and other elements, with the US. Yet, there doesn't seem to be as much animosity amongst ourselves; though indeed, we certainly are not without our own problems and challenges. So what makes our countries so different in temperament? lt would seem to me that there are certain 'elements', if you will, that 'push buttons' in Americans and trigger 'eruptions of hostility', and as Canadians, we don't appear to have these triggers. And thus, any 'eruptions' we would have are rather few and far between, and much lower in intensity. Perhaps it's these button-pushing triggers that America needs to look for in its soul-searching/healing process.

Gun control doesn't work. That lunatic that did the last mass shootings did so at a school which is a gun free zone and did so with guns he didn't legally buy. The lunatic before him who did the mass shootings in NY admitted he chose NY because of how strict it is on gun control and chose a gun free area so that he could shoot as many people as possible so he could get media attention of which the media gave it to him instead of that brave security guard who died defending the people there. That same lunatic also got his guns illegally. The majority of mass shootings happen in gun free zones that are in states/areas that are strict on gun control and are done with guns that are not legally bought/owned. Fact is statics show that areas with less gun control have less crimes including gun violence.

@@TennisAloha Yeah, great job dissecting the entertainment. Your comment was so thought provoking, I wouldn’t have known he was an actor without it.

No it does not. The 2nd Amendment is about the people having arms suited to defend their rights from government tyranny (foreign or domestic). You are uninformed.

I liked Matthew McConaughey for sticking up for Kim Novack but beyond that he is a POS.

America needs a leadership change. No more career politicians. No matter what you think of Matthew's opinion, he's a genuine and passionate American. We need to hear from people other than politicians, like Matthew, speaking. Honest, intelligent voices from all walks of life bringing real leadership, hope and vision to a dividend country.

All i heard was more gun control. Being an artist, he obviously has no problem expressing himself yet he never once mentioned how police stood around and failed those children as they were being slathered so are we to assume he's ok with that?

Seeing that he is a product of Hollywood, one can't help but to ask...is this is just an actor doing it really well, but if you ask any actor, to be able to bring it like this on a film is only possible if you are true to yourself.

It’s an actor doing it REALLY POORLY with those who have eyes to see. You’re right to question, we are watching one big show play out

I bet if their children were gunned down it would be a different story something would get done 😢
