    I carried the Beretta M9 while I was in the Army. I never had a single issue with mine. Now I was one of those clean freaks so I’m sure that played a role in it never malfunctioning. The ones we were issued in my unit were not new by any stretch of the imagination. Lol. However I really enjoyed carrying it and shooting it on range days. My only negative memory with my M9 was how hot it got during the summer in Iraq. lol. I know all guns got hot over there but dang man. I had to draw it during a raid looking for weapons cache’s and it did a number on my hand. 😂😂I’ve always wanted to purchase one for my own collection but haven’t done so yet. Soon though, very soon. I actually fell in love with it when I saw Lethal Weapon for the very first time. Hands down to this day my favorite movie series. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover were outstanding in all 4 movies. I really wish they would do a 5th. Awesome video brother, thank you for sharing. By the way, you have an amazing wife. She is no doubt a keeper man!! Lol

    It’s 20 years that i use the 92FS for work, italian police. 20 years of all weather open carry, never had a single problem! Just a little recommendation: always, always safe the 92 before to do any manouver. Even the disassembly! It’s always a good idea to have the hammer on rest position and the firing pin misaligned! It’s very a very reliable and safe gun!

      Absolutely, that long trigger pull helps. You practically have to purposely pull that trigger to get it to fire.

That ppl have to get hold of leathal weapons to protect themselves from god knows what.

    I had my heart set on a Beretta 92 back in 1987 after seeing the movie Lethal Weapon. In the hands of Mel Gibson it just looked so cool and state of the art. In 1989 I had saved up the cash and went to my local range to buy my dream pistol. The salesman immediately started pushing the Glock 17 Gen 2 instead. But the 92 was just so beautiful on the top of the gun case. The Glock looked so poorly made at first glance. Like a cheap toy. In truth I had not ever shot a semiautomatic pistol before. I knew close to nothing about either of these guns. The salesman took me back to the range and I fired the house 92. It was everything I thought it would be... Heavy, cold, loud, and had the feel of a finely engineered machine. The the Glock to my surprise was lighter, the same temp as my skin, a better grip angle (for me), no external safety, much easier to break down, higher capacity, and it had the feel of a finely engineered "military/LE" machine. I loved the Glock at first shot. I loved the idea that I could could just aim and pull the trigger, no forgetting to take it out of safe that could cost me my life. So in September of 1989 I bought my G17G2. I have put thousands of rounds trough it over the last 31 years, and this awesome pistol has been carried by me as EDC almost every single day of those 31 years. I still want a Beretta 92 or M9 surplus, or Taurus... It does not matter. It's just that design. It is THE beautiful Super Model of the firearms world.

    Beretta and Sig were the only two to pass all the military tests in 1985, Beretta only won the contract due to a cheaper price on parts. Almost certainly a similar decision that now favors Sig, follow the money.

    I had one of these and foolishly sold it to a deputy in Joplin, MO when I was working down there. I have a love/hate relationship with this pistol. Carried it for years in the service, and took it to Far East Division Matches in Okinawa in '91 or '92. Very accurate and smooth. Ours were not the newest in the Corps by any means, but they still shot. I just thought they were too big. Anyway, good memories!

      The M17 gave me nothing but problems. I was extremely disappointed with it. I mean my service pistol in the Army was old as shit and performed way better than my BRAND NEW M17 did. That gun sincerely made me uncomfortable and I would never trust it with my families lives. Period. I believe the Army should have went with the M9A3 which is absolutely badass or even the Glock 19X. I like both but I like the M9A3 more. My Army issued M9 was also more accurate than the M17 I had. I ended up sending that handgun back to SIG 3 times. The 3rd time it came back still having issues I got rid of it. I plan on buying one of the M9A3’s before the end of the year. Super nice gun. If you haven’t already I highly recommend checking it out. I recommend it to anyone looking for an accurate, very good looking and super reliable handgun. It is pretty darn pricy though. Lol. Worth every penny in my opinion.

    MY wife occasionally "treats" me too with guns on Christmas and birthday. Please note, though, that guide rods are just a cost-cutting measure. It has nothing to do with oil. Order yourself a stainless steel guide rod. I did that with all 3 of my Beretta 92s / M9s as well as the Model 84 (.380). I'm not happy that Beretta uses plastic but what can you do (other than buy a Sig). Beretta 92 / M9 is a great gun - not the first one that I'll grab when the Apoc comes but a great gun - just keep it clean and you shouldn't have any issues.

    My whole military career was with the M9. I can field strip one in my sleep. I can shoot it off handed and still get a 6" group @ 1000 yards...well, maybe at 10 yards. You know what I mean. And the only time I can ever remember a malfunction of the thousand's of rounds I put through them was when we were issued this cheap ass steel rounds instead of brass. Steel cases will not feed through an M9 without some modifications. At least from my experience. Maybe others have had luck with them. Anyways, it's my EDC and I love it.

    • @GreatGunsGreatPeople
      @GreatGunsGreatPeople  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was not aware of the problems with steel case ammo. I have a Ruger AR556 which will jam on steel case 223 after only 2 to 5 rounds and I mean jam, like pour oil down the barrel let it soak in and then take a good army metal cleaning rod and pound that case out of there.

    • @valuedhumanoid6574
      @valuedhumanoid6574 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may have been just that brand of steel ammo and not steel ammo in general. And I don't think the issue was feeding, it was extraction. The spent round would not clear the chamber reliably. But that was just a fluke thing, the armory never issued out the steel cases after we complained to them.

    • @gunfisher4661
      @gunfisher4661 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought my parts separately because I didnt want the bulky double safety decocker . I used the wilson combat low profile single side decocker , real nice . another advantage of buying the trigger separate is they give you a D-spring with it witch takes a lb or two off the DA pull. I had to search hi and low to find a standard size mag release button witch baretta dont have in steel but told me where to find but no one had it, finally found it last night at gun parts corp. they have new and used . you will notice a small difference with a steel guide rod alone.and of course the steel trigger feels reel nice on the finger

      I mean, damn dude. There are actually people out there that are interested in seeing everything that comes in a firearm box. Granted, it could’ve been sped up a tad to get to the gun itself. Regardless, I appreciate you showing everything. That could help someone, in one of those instances where they bought the same gun but are missing items in the box. Absolutely no need to be rude about it. A simple please speed up your videos so you get to the gun itself faster would have been better. Respect goes a long way.

    What sucks in since you live in Massachusetts you are limited to ten round mags unless you can find pre ban mags for a premium price tag. And the 10 lb. Trigger pull sucks too. Love the gun, hate the laws here. I'm also in Massachusetts and own a 92 in stainless. Just wish I could enjoy the gun how it's meant to be carried with a full mag and factory trigger pull, not a Massachusetts gun that has these restrictions.

    Beautiful pistol, good luck with it! I have the Beretta M9 22 LR and really like it, looks, feels and operates just like the 92. The 9MM version is on my wish list. I am a revolver guy but have always admired the design and looks of these things, truly a classic pistol. BTW I had heard that they went with the plastic guide rod to shave off an ounce on the weight to make it more competitive. 👍

      Thank You, Its a real piece of U.S. Military History. Its a solid (and heavy) pistol compared to the Walther PPQ or Glock. They put a few plastic pieces in the pistol to cut down on the weight.
