Today we're building a huge harbor with fishing docks and a container area. The harbor doesn't have the best traffic flow.. because there are unrealistically many trucks...
In my new vanilla Cities: Skylines series I build my dream city without mods.

I'm currently a Regional Development undergraduate, though. Public Transportation and Rural Geography are my thing, so this game is a nice one to practice my skills lol

from all video's is this the most helpfull one atm, I just had plans on building a port due to the way to many cargo trains going through my city. Thank you again for the inspiration :D I love how you've build the fishing area near your port :D

@@imperatur Haha, I know, We all make the same mistake once :D When I started playing, I did the same, but now when building a city, I always try to figure out the best way to avoid traffic jams. I mean, I still have a traffic jam in my oil industry I can't manage to fix. They all want to deliver the oil to the train station I've build next to it, and the return to their building, but each building has 7 trucks, I've build way to many small rigs, and I don't think I'd have to explain how many trucks want to go to the train station at once :D Gues, I'll just have to remove most buildings and upgrade them in the hope it causes less traffic. It's all try and error, thats what makes this game so amazing :D

I did not expect the port to look so good despite being completely vanilla! Thanks for putting this out man, I might be 2 years late, but at least I finally know how to build a proper port that is beautiful and mesmerizing to look at.

I love this series and I really appreciate not using mods because although you can do fantastic things with them, I still prefer to play with the vanilla version.
Gotta admit, this was a mighty impressive build - making a realistic harbor is hard enough when heavily modded (which I'm doing). Doing it vanilla is quite an extra challenge, but you did a fantastic job here. Heck, you did far better than I did with placement of the cargo hub (my ships clip something fierce through the slip when they're turning around to pull into the harbor).
Love it that even the song with lyrics is about cities :D

The Breakwater is awesome! and super simple!
I wish Cities skylines would've put in Breakwaters as part of the Sunset Harbor DLC. They would basically just be skinnier flood walls that get put in water.

What does your pc have?
I think one thing that is needed is more housing and suburbs. While I love this series I find that the population seems quite low for the relatively large amount of services.
Those unlucky truckers leaving the port only to go back again though the toll due to one way traffic flow :P 🤣
