I have 2 questions, if you don't mind. I found the combinations very interesting. I have to start off with this question: Are Earthly branches combinations an interaction with the month branch + (day/hour/year branches)? Your document reads (and it would apply to any other instances of the like) "in the 2nd month, the Sun is in Xu": is it saying that the Sun is in Xu but we're in the Chou month (which is the second)?
Earth branches can combine if they are side-by-side each other, for example - Mao in Year Branch and Xu in Month Branch. As for the "Sun in the 2nd month", I was translating what the text says. The 2nd month of Chou does not mean that all the planets are there. This may make more sense if you're looking at Western astrology (as an analogy).

Chen-Mao-Yin is the Eastern Direction. It's not a combination and thus is not read as interaction within branches.
