That elevator in Nazaré seems to always be in service mode! Those waves you wanted to see won’t start until mid-late October I believe. Beautiful town though.
Hi, just a comment that we watched your no commentary compilation video of the journey through Europe. It was really well filmed, with the accompanying music soundtrack providing a very relaxing mood. Great to watch. Thought the girls did really, really well too- seemed to be an awful lot of gradients and switchbacks to deal with at times.
Thanks. We are very proud of our girls! It wasn't always enjoyable but they are asking when we can go again, so it definitely agreed with them by the end.
Hi again. Quick follow up. We enjoyed the initial compilation episode so much that we watched the entire journey. One per evening before supper. What a pleasure. Really well filmed, just enough commentary to set the scene and found the captions on screen giving locations and features of special interest very informative. Also, the rather hypnotic ambient background music made for a chilled bit of relaxation. Sorry the weather was a bit rubbish for your last few days, but that's an English Summer for you.
Thanks so much for posting these videos! I’ll be in Lisbon in two weeks and am planning to follow the same route as you (at least to Pamplona) almost exactly a year later. Super helpful to see what your experiences were!
It should be a great trip! Glad the videos are helpful. Spring is a great time to bike this area. I've also added a link to our route in our channel description, which includes Komoot routes from which you can download gpx files. Will Pamplona be your terminus or do you have another route in mind from there?
@@pedalpowerfamily Cool! I’ll look for the route links. My return flight is from Copenhagen. From Pamplona I’m thinking maybe head to San Sebastien, then either stick to the coast or pick up EV-3 again to go through the Loire Valley, and eventually Belgium, the Netherlands, and east into Denmark. Really great to see road conditions, weather, and overall vibe from your videos for the first leg of the trip! Any particular standout spots or recommendations you want to share?
Sounds great! It's definitely worth it to cycle around the perimeter of Peniche - it's just really beautiful! Hopefully you'll see much bigger waves than we did in Nazaré. If we'd had a bit more time, we would have incorporated Alcobaça Monastery but it's directly inland from Nazaré so you may be inclined to choose one or the other - maybe check surf conditions and head inland if there aren't any waves. The caminos are a different experience on bikes - much less social but also much faster and less of a grind. We sometimes called our trip the endless Spring as we generally travelled northward as the seasons shifted and mostly avoided the worst of the heat. Hopefully you will have similar conditions.
Oh, and we'll be posting videos of our route along the North Sea coast between Amsterdam and Dunkirk in the coming month or two - but you may be taking a more inland route.
In Europe we don't have to refrigerate eggs because we don't wash them with chlorine, they have a natural barrier that keeps them fresh for weeks. They also don't need washing because European chicken farms have to be kept clean by law , clean eggs= no adding chemicals= no need to refrigerate 👍
VERY POSITIVE FAMILY IN ANY SITUATION.. HAPPY FAMILY!!!

I had heard it had to do with not washing the eggs but didn't know the 'why' until now. Thanks for the explanation.
so idyllic. can i ask what you used to film the tour? handheld gopro?
The filming is on a GoPro Hero 10 mounted to one of these: a.co/d/hJNnKQh
