The distinct feature of a gate valve is the sealing of passages by the gate or wedge and seats. A gate or wedge of the gate valve moves perpendicular to the flow of the service. When you move the stem in the up position, the valve is open, and the stem is in the down position, and the valve is closed. You can see the same on the slide.

for non rising stem, how to make sure the valve is in open or close condition visually (without test the handwheel)?

But two flange is weld on body so how to do butt weld to connect body and flange
I just cant get my head around the design so that when you turn the hand wheel the gate will rise but not the stem. Would love some more detail describing how the designs differ so that when the wheel rotates on the gate lifts.
