    Considering the ridiculous cost of new (and used) equipment these days, no question it's worth repairing IF you have the time. That little Kubota is doing ok for 3000 hrs. Never thought that small stuff could last that long since they are often abused/overloaded.
    Sure wish you'd talk more about starting your business and how it's progressing.
    And I think you should rebrand your channel to something like 'Top of the World' excavation - to you, working in such a northern climate is normal, but to the rest of the world it's an interesting change to the typical grading channel.

    • @MiniMachines1
      @MiniMachines1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes prices are ridiculous right now, the kobelco goes for more now than I bought it for in 2018😳
      The little kubota is holding up strong for its houers, the service was well worth it, guess I will have a few new years out of it now.
      Yes it has been requested before, never seems to fit in to an video, but I could make an own video about that.
      This summer is going to be great it looks like, and last summer was a blast 😁
      I actually think you are on to somthing there, that would have been an great channel name😊

    My old bobcat had that part of the tick get too worn so a local shop cut it off and weld in a new piece of steel and i think it was a easier repair then the way you did it. then again they had a good lath for making the complex shape on the inside.
    If i were in your place i likely would have just gone strait for torching it off and starting over again like you ended up with. Love the attempts though, i have certainly done similar things before realizing that there is an easier way.

    • @MiniMachines1

    Great Work Isak hope that will not crack again. The time will tell. What do you do with the further stick bore were the bushings become lose? The new ones won't stay in place again because the bore is worn out. I know that you already did the bushing change but little tech tip. Set some beats of weld inside the bushings you wanted to change. The welding shrinks the bushings and you can slide it out easily.

    • @MiniMachines1
      @MiniMachines1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks 😀 I hope this fix will hold for the rest of the time I got it.
      You will see in the next part how I solved that.
      Yes I used the welding trick before but luckily it was no need on this machine.

    Which quick coupler are you using for the machine? And where did you get your buckets? I want to get a 4-6 inch trenching and a 30" grading bucket.

    • @MiniMachines1
      @MiniMachines1  ปีที่แล้ว

      I use an s30 quick coupler. Buckets i got in internet shops.
      Here we measure buckets in liters not inches.
      For us that is easy because we know how many liters each machine can handle
      Like my Kubota can use an 50 liters bucket at max kobelco 100 liters terex 150 liters and so on

  • @charlesdefrancisco5056
    @charlesdefrancisco5056 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi there
    I have enjoyed your efforts and must comment…one of the causes is you are using a bucket that is too big for the dynamics and limitations of the machine

    • @MiniMachines1
      @MiniMachines1  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi glad you liked it. The bucket is 55 liters and on the big end for this machine. But my guess is the hydraulic breaker have done most of the damage on wearing out bolts and bushings

      It's pretty good actually, as long as you don't have the 115mm model of the grinder that one is terrible. The 125mm is good. And the light is one of the best ones since you can bend it in all directions.

    That is going to be a strong fix for the stick. The machine will be like new when all the repairs are done and it's painted, you will most likely keep it. :) Question, how much weight can your dump trailer haul legally and what size is the box? Looking forward to part two of this video.

    it is aways far better to rip a machine a part and totally rebuild it then buying new plus i love doing it, as a welder by trade on heavy equipment,, it is all rebuild-able, just dont buy parts from the dealer, get a machine shop to make all your new pins an pin bosses,, bushings far cheaper, lots of guys do it on the side,, i just wish i learned machining in my young years so i could do it all.. just a little advice. lose the mig welder totally on repairs, stick weld only with 7018 DC or 8018 DC start off with a 3.32 rod.. keep your arc more to the thicker steel part ans stich over to thinner,, back an forth on a 1, 2, 3 count per weave. cut all plates off and get to the plate in side, and repair and rebuild out,, mig welding is ok for new steel fabricating, not any repairs,, plus learn to weld 110% with stick before ever picking up a mig,, and only use mig for new steel fabricating,, once you got the stick welding down 110% any kid can put steel down with a mig, dont mean its going to hold a thing.. ,ig is not for repair jobs or old steel..

      Just got the windows and a new door on the kobelco, the door was $5000🙄 that's like 1/5 of the new price on the machine. Luckily it was an insurance case but anyways.

      @@MiniMachines1 thats crazy on the bolts to be made, i know some shops that are really big charge a lot. but there are so many that work in big plants that have a shop at there home and do it on the side, and i have 2 guys with home shops that do all the machine shop work i need at a good price, as for the door and window i do know when it is an insurance case they mark the price up 300 to 600 %, i dropped my glass insurance many years ago as my glass premium was %800 a year and i can buy any front glass for $300 cnd Canada $
