- The 2008 football season didn't start out the way most fans wanted. However, in typical Kirk Ferentz fashion the team has continued to improve through the season and is arguably playing their best ball at the close of the year. This video highlights the struggles and the celebrations that made the 2008 Hawkeye Football season.

Greatest football video ever
What a year that was. I was in 6th grade. So much was hyped about Kirk and staff. When they beat Penn State, the whole season changed. Kirks tenure was more than likely saved due to that and finish off the season in a great bowl game. Won the bowl game and finished pretty good. Ranked and 9 wins. Seems good to me.
Losing 4 games by 12 points. Iowa could have done even better . But you win some and lose some.

All three rival trophies. Complete domination of our two Big Ten rivals, including a 55-0 shutout absolute shit-stomping of (Rebuilt!!! 7-1 omg!!!) Minnesota for the last game in Kinnick North. Upsetting Penn State at home. Shonn Greene's Doak Walker performance. A January bowl game vs. S-E-C SPEEED in which we completely and utterly destroyed star-studded South Carolina. Ending the season ranked in the top 20.
I truly think this was the most fun season since 2002.

Well, the first charge, after the kick, was halfhearted b/c the gameclock had 1 second on it, and we still needed to kick. We got a 15 yard penalty for rushing the field during the game. But yeah, the second charge was about 20-30 thousand fans, which was great, a lot more than other home wins, which are usually at least 3 thousand or so, depending on how big the win is (a lot more for bigger wins).

Tell me then, who deserved Iowa's BCS bid? A 9-3 LSU team that defeated one ranked opponent, who conveniently finished 7-5? VT? They played well, but losing to NC cost them. So what if Iowa is overrated? Starting freshman third and fourth string runningbacks would hurt any team. Iowa has lost twice when Stanzi starts a game, the second loss he was hurt. Iowa has earned every bit of recognition they have received.

Sadly outplaying your opponents doesn't account for. Iowa may have been outplayed by many teams, but they still won most of their games. Those W's are what count, not how you win 'em.

Are they still a mediocre team that is overrated and not deserving of a BCS bid? You said Pitt should have had Iowa's spot, which I could have respected before the bowls. Pitt beat the 7th team in the ACC by 2. Iowa beat the 1st team in the ACC by 10. I'm not being cocky and claiming Iowa would beat Texas or Nebraska, but I feel they deserve their props now.

We won the last time we played you and just to jog your memory, THIS YEAR Iowa squashed Iowa State, who happen to beat your Huskers IN Lincoln. Look deep down into your heart and you will know the Huskers with their erratic offense would have no chance againt Iowa this year.

we kept minnesota from scoring, and dominated them easy, did you even watch that game or just look at the score? and we beat indiana by what, 20? at least iowa beat proven teams. your team lost to proven teams. and by the way, your team absolutly struggled score wise. iowa state is mediocre, baylor is mediocre, in fact, your team either lost to or barely beat every team that had a decent defense. im not even saying a good d, im saying a decent d. you cant even argue injury like iowa can. deal
iowa would easily make it to the nc game in 2009. (i guess it would be 2010) if they went 12-0. have u looked at their road schedule? even if the teams they play arent great, its always hard to win in happy valley, camp randall, the horshoe, and even mich st. if they were to go 12-0 it would include a win over a great oh. st. team at their place so they would deserve a nc shot.
