This was my sister's FIRST time seeing A&B live and my first time seeing an ABGT show... and what an absolutely perfect treat it was!!! Anjunafam showed up big time for this show, grateful to share those moments together.

Gone are the days of boring non-melodic drops and back are chords and arps and melodies with TONS of throwbacks to the 90ies and early 00! I cannot describe how happy I am about this! What a show.. tears in my eyes. .
I think it would be cool to see a documentary that shows the behind-the-scenes work that goes into the design, planning and live production of this event, specifically the scene-making effort and how they obtain their inspiration for the videos and lights. Love the new music obviously too :)
@@Hawke106 out of any festival or show I’ve been to, this by far was the coolest live production I’ve ever seen. I am so, so, so lucky I was able to go. This video shows how epic it was from aerial point of view but being there was out of this world and even this epic video doesn’t do it justice lol…. Would love to see them show the planning effort, at least a 15-min TH-cam video or something showing the team and production planning inspiration to the event and how it all comes together so seamlessly. They make it look so easy!!
The first time I caught ABB was when they played to a room of less than 500 of Sydney's Trance faithful at ANOT at ARQ in 2003. Suffice to say I fell head over heels (heals even?) for the emotion that underpins the ABB sound that night. Here we are 19 years later and they are selling out stadiums around the world. Couldn't be happier for them. Congratulations fellas on an amazing journey, here's to another 500. Thank you. 🙏🏾

So many A&B ID's, so much new Paavo! That "We Find Ourselves" remix is amazing and that A&B ID at 1:04:14 is killer. I didn't know how to feel at first, but I love it now lol. And I'm so glad that during "500" 41:11 you can see the lasers on the back of the stadium. They looked like crab legs and it fit that ocean vibe of the track, it was great lol
"Crazy Love" has to be my favorite Above & Beyond song since "Northern Soul" back in 2017. The trancey elements of that one just give me straight chills. Really hoping for a Stoneblue or other uplifting trance remix of that one.

WOW this set was unbelievable. A&B is absolutely back in their best form. I had such huge expectations for ABGT 500 and they delivered completely. Probably the best set I've seen from them in my 10+ years following. I was actually taken aback by some of the disappointment people expressed on social media afterwards. People were apparently complaining about "lack of lyrics", "too hard," "no sun and moon," no push the button, and nothing from we're all we need or common ground??? Then you quickly understand that these were the very 'fans' that grew too accustomed to the watered down-singalong-cookie cutter version of A&B that we got in the post 2015 commercial EDM scene. ABGT500 wasn't a new sound or switch in genre. This is what A&B and anjunabeats has always been at its core - hard, groovy basslines that will melt your face off mixed with both dark and uplifting, but not cringey, breakdowns. This isn't them following the recent dark/techno trend, but more them staying true to that timeless style from years ago now that dance music fans are less basic. Not to mention, ABGT shows are meant for unreleased stuff for the dedicated fans, not the typical festival act. This is the closest we've heard to the ASOT 500 type prog trance of the early 2010s. 350-450 seemed like they were moving back in that direction, but with 500, it seems that they are back completely. Amazing. No fanservice, just a real dj set. I will agree with some critics though that ABGT500 seemed to come and go as somewhat of an afterthought. Surprising for such a significant milestone show in such a significant city for dance music and A&B. The venues had a lot to do with it tbh - BOC stadium just feels like such a basic commercial venue where abgt was just 'another show'. The outdoor area for anjunadeep was cool with the coliseum behind it, but otherwise just meh and not very scenic for an open air. A little bit awkward and unnerving having these anjuna shows in south central LA. Also, I remember as we were walking out of the venue on sat, they turned on the lights almost immediately as if to tell us, "get out, no encore." Not only that, but the lineup as well - I thought everyone killed it, but where was I. Bluestone, Spencer Brown, Oli Smith, Sunny Lax, Genix? On the deep side, no big names like Tinlicker, Eli & Fur, Yotto, Ben Bohmer, Luttrell, Lane 8? Everything leading up to this event was a surprisingly underwhelming. I imagine Insomniac dropped the ball a little... i can think of at least 3 other venues that wouldve worked better for either show: the oceanside venue they used for daytrip, la historic park, row dtla or one of the factory 93 spaces in downtown. also, definitely not a coincidence that a bunch of those missing names were also booked in a bunch of 2022 west coast insomniac events likely with exclusive performance deals. These days more than ever, Insomniac really is a capitalistic giant.
I love Above & Beyond and while I enjoy watching their annual big ABGT milestones, I must admit was expecting the same usual tunes and big hits. I was blown away from start to finish I could not step away without being scared I'd miss a good beat. I had a watch party at home; had my projector, lasers, JBL boombox and invited the whole family. Everyone loved it, even those who know nothing about trance music. Its reasons like this Above & Beyond is unlike any other. They bring people together, no matter the age or background. Thank you again A&B for the best set BY FAR!

Crazy Love is by far the best track of A&B's 500 set. The melody on the second half of the drop, the double layered outro vocals...just perfect.

Not only that, but the lineup as well - I thought everyone killed it, but where was I. Bluestone, Spencer Brown, Oli Smith, Sunny Lax, Genix? On the deep side, no big names like Tinlicker, Eli & Fur, Yotto, Ben Bohmer, Luttrell, Lane 8? Everything leading up to this event was a surprisingly underwhelming. I imagine Insomniac dropped the ball a little... i can think of at least 3 other venues that wouldve worked better for either show: the oceanside venue they used for daytrip, la historic park, row dtla or one of the factory 93 spaces in downtown. also, definitely not a coincidence that a bunch of those missing names were also booked in a bunch of 2022 west coast insomniac events likely with exclusive performance deals. These days more than ever, Insomniac really is a capitalistic giant.
For being a 500 event it should have had a bigger presence. They did have about 20k people attend though

I love Above & Beyond and while I enjoy watching their annual big ABGT milestones, I must admit was expecting the same usual tunes and big hits. I was blown away from start to finish I could not step away without being scared I'd miss a good beat. I had a watch party at home; had my projector, lasers, JBL boombox and invited the whole family. Everyone loved it, even those who know nothing about trance music. Its reasons like this Above & Beyond is unlike any other. They bring people together, no matter the age or background. Thank you again A&B for the best set BY FAR!
