My wife and I first saw this programme on broadcast TV in Australia about 20 years ago. It was to be another 18 years before we could get there and found it well worth the wait. BY then they had finished the tower and chapel which still lacked its roof tiles. These were being made at the time and were placed a couple of months later. Every visit will bring new discoveries as the work continues and we want to go again. The pandemic has prevented more trips but it is on our itinerary next time we get to Europe.
A fantastic project ! Experimental archaeology is the best way to let us understand the techniques used in the past in the construction of the beautiful buildings that we can still see today in many old European towns and cities - from churches and mighty cathedrals to grand castles. The amount of work is breathtaking and we are indebted to those masters of many different trades who make such projects possible.
I’ve been there with my children a few years ago I am German and it was just a 10 Hour Ride from our home! I will go there again with the grandbaby in a few years!
This messages is for whoever is reading it: The Lord Jesus came down from heaven, sent by God the Father, to pay (die) for our sins on the cross, then God the Father raised Him from the dead on the third day for our justification. Now, God commands all (men and women) to repent (turn away from their sinful ways) and put their faith in Jesus for salvation. Don’t die in your sins. Jesus came to save, not to condemn.
Fantastic INDEED! Wonderful! We need thousands of these projects, where we learn that people 1000 years ago were not dummies! They built cathedrals, castles, boats, bridges, all without computers or fancy instruments. How did they do it? Look at this and learn! Absolutely wonderful! Going to visit when I go to France next time-- in a boat, not a plane! Congrats guys! Maybe we can faith in humanity again! It's possible -- thanks to guys (and gals) like this ! My hat's off to you! Putting this video on my Art History class, and also Current events. People must know of this!
That’s not quite as impressive as a medieval castle considering the construction of the salt lake temple was in the early to middle 19th century. And while granite was initially quarried and then transported by ox carts. Very little was actually built during the early stages. Construction started in 1853 but very little was actually built beyond the foundation stones. It wouldn’t be until 1859 when the railroads were built to transport the granite that construction actually began in earnest and even then it would take another three decades to finish

YES! Watched it when our children were young, and was able to visit it when they were young adults.

Castle building brought to real life experience. Thanks for letting us see this wonderful program.

I absolutely ADORE these three amazing historians.
This is such a good series. I wish this crew would do another but from Saxon times
:) Amazing Work, amazing skills; and in the end there is a castle.
Really cool
I wish they would do updates more often.
Reconstruindo o castelo 👍👍
Someone should do a segment on the Salt Lake Temple as it is solid granite and no granite was near the area.

Anyone know how much this project has cost?
