Auto mechanic, carpentry, typing, masonry, business office skills!!!!
Even in our tech enriched world, those trades are NEEDED.

That has happened repeatedly. Outsourcing jobs of all kinds overseas and also bringing foreign workers here, or giving preference to persons from a particular ethnic background from within the U.S. This is similar to the taxpayers' money being used to pay for the college tuition of "dreamers," while their own children are denied admittance to more affordable universities based on admissions that are "race-based," and the lack of affordability of alternative private universities. Affirmative Action also that replaces merit with quotas in the name of equity. Employers must say that qualified American workers cannot be found to fill the positions, and thus hire foreign workers instead. In many fields, Americans are passed over, and left un and underemployed, while the foreign workers are actually preferred and selected. Once a particular group is the majority, it is oftentimes difficult and rare for an outsider/American to receive a job offer, or if received, to thrive in a foreign work environment within the USA. Another means of an effort at societal manipulation.

If you are a natural born American whose parents came her legally, but happen to not be WHITE, and are merit based, they deserve to be there at the top universities over a non American! There is no more affirmative action. Americans of color increased for Americans that have Latin blood. Americans are not native, and they are not just white! Believe it when I say, American parents need and can raise their intelligent academic children to go to college for an education, and not to party! Vivik is correct when he says academics are not praised in our American cultures. But to say Americans are not gifted academically to where they now want to bring in a culture that doesn't share our values is wrong! He is lying!

It's good that we are having this discussion, because it I helping me understand some fixable problems with H1B. I live near Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, and entire neighborhoods are immigrant Indians. This needs to be balanced out with other qualified nationalities. We also need to abolish the worthless feminist studies degrees and re-establish STEM, Vocational, and other meaningful college degrees.

My husband is a white software engineer for 30 years. The only way to stay employed was to work for a subcontract agency. His skills were excellent . He got the jobs on contract. He worked with Indian and Chinese and foreign engineers. They were sent here by foreign subcontracting agencies AND most were not qualified. He did the work while they sat around. Vivek probably has an agency in India or he has friends that own them.

He said there are almost no more Irish left in Ireland. For U.S.A. it will not be about race. Americans don't have a specific race. We have a culture. A very unique way we think, our faith, out devotion to our country. We treat women with respect and dignity. That is what we will be losing by bringing in people like Indians or Chinese who don't practice our faith or have our values. Indians particularly worship white people. They don't like blacks or other races outside of the white race.

Germany introduced a law comparable to the H1B system about 20 years ago. The lawmakers made the much critisized "mistake" to evaluate "quality employment" with a certain range in salaries and put that into law / executive orders. The law flopped. The companies pushed for this law not to get more expensive labour, but for being able to employ cheap foreign labour.
We have the same problems in Europe. Teaching became woke. Instead of achieving good results, the destination became to make school "comfortable" for students. That tunrs into disaster. Schools should be able to discover the innate abilities of the children and then nurture those kids to do the best they can do. We don't need only engineers. We need a lot of good people in every profession. If we get the people into professions they like to do and they are good in, we have at the same time improved the mental health of most people.

Every successful and surviving culture needs so much more than mere engineers. We need medical professionals, accountants, teachers, musicians, painters, architects, masons, builders, roofers, farmers, chefs, organizers, leaders, managers, landscapers, and so much more. We cannot survive on engineers alone. Granted, we need innovators, but innovators of all sorts. Let's teach our teachers and parents to identify our children's talents and encourage them. In the meantime, let's find those with the talents to do these things.
I was a manager, but I was a much better leader (one of those "soft" skills). I knew how to encourage workers to work together to produce a greater outcome, reduce turnover, and increase loyalty. But, after being laid off from a long-term career, I am considered too old to hire. I might be able to get a job as a bagger at a grocery store or a Walmart greeter because employers would rather hire someone younger, prettier, and would work for less pay.
Employers are losing out on an enormous knowledge base in favor of paying less for inexperience, a knowledge base readily available in the United States. Shameful.

Vetting is key here. Also, instead of concentrating on DEI and teaching the non essentials, the school system needs to go back to basics.
I agree with what a subscriber said that all was ok in Canada until it went full woke.
We now have college mills and it’s a mess here. Immigration needs to be vetted properly. I came to Canada in 1965 and my parents came with money, skills, and ready to work. We appreciate the Canadian culture and see ourselves as a Canadian. However, now it’s a mess here. Flying the Canadian flag seems to be an issue. It shouldn’t be. Of course the society needs to look after those who are less capable in their jobs - not their fault imo maybe their talents are just not fully discovered or elsewhere, but one of the most common way to discover one’s potential or talent is to work their ass off.

The two Indian engineers I worked with in medical manufacturing, one had their visa to depend on, was fearful as was stated in this video, polite,, and worked just as well as our good workers here, I wouldn't say any better. The other worker, who had a spouse over here, had pretty lame work ethics. They were rude to the workers on the floor without any reason to be. They were let go for doing a poor job eventually... You have to be the best of the best there... And so, we still wouldn't have their best of the best... They keep their best of their best... So we're technically getting more moderate people who are willing to be paid less... I think he started telling me that because someone left a Bible booklet and he stereotyped it was me maybe? Which was crazy because at the time I was an atheist (had been for years) 😂 but he didn't know that. He thought I was stereotyping him but he actually was stereotyping me 😂

It takes time to build and train useful talent. When America sent a man to the moon 1970, the groundwork was laid 15 years earlier by purposely establishing Tech High Schools and funding College engineering departments in the 1950's/. My Electrical Engineer husband's college (Clarkson University, NY), has 1000 fewer students 2024 than it had 1970 when he graduated! Meanwhile Liberal arts Universities like Chapel Hill, NC have more than tripled!!

Also yeah Americans dont work as hard as many Mexicans, or maybe indians, but thats a good thing. My buddies from Mexico used to work MANDATORY six days a week, 10 hour shifts. More often than not their bosses would push them, (with threat of losing their job) to work longer and all 7 days, so when they come here and are USED to working longer and more. Then they all of a sudden have fewer things to do, so they work more here.

So basically what you are saying is that we are testing immigrants like slaves and that’s why they are so highly valued over Americans.
It’s the same arguments people made before the civil war. Slave owners said we can’t free the slaves because we couldn’t afford them to be free. It would be too expensive and our economy wouldn’t be able to handle it.
People need to realize this is the same exact argument pre slavery in America. We already fought this war. Slavery is illegal. People need to stop trying to bring it back through immigration!

Actually, Americans have worked just as hard as anyone in the world and some still do. It's only changed by of the push to go cheaper and hire from other countries, which is why a little of trade skills aren't taught as much as in tbe past. However, hiring from other places only hurts one's particular country. This case would be America.

In developed nations, our nation, the US, works more than most believe it or not... And also, I've worked with enough engineering Indians to know they have their lazy, bad-work ethic workers who aren't any more brilliant than us... I've never worked with Mexican engineers ... 73% of H-1B Visas are Indians.. 12% are Chinese... That leaves 15% for the rest of the world... H-1B are middle income jobs... They'll be stealing jobs from our college educated kids who have to pay way more for their four year degree than these H-1B visa holders have.

Exactly. We sacrificed our future for our gifted academic daughter. Her friends were Asians whose foreign parents sucked off of our welfare system, some Indians friends were from another country and were need based because of course they didn't make the salary an American made. We are middle-working-class and received nothing except loans! The Indian and Asians were educated for free! They even gave them spending money. You should see how luxury of a college life they lived! They ate at expensive restaurants weekly. They would fly home for a weekend because they missed their dog! My daughter ran circles around them academically at a top ivy. But we didn't suck off our government. We worked hard to pay for her education. Her own professors would complain that they feel sorry for the middleclass students because they were the ones whose parents paid tuition based on need, not merit! If you owned a house or made a living wage they didn't qualify for support, yet the middle- working- class are not rich! Her friends walked away from college with over 10k savings, and one worked a summer and made 70k, yet she received free tuition! They took spring breaks like the wealthy because they received spending money stipends. It would sicken Americans if they knew the truth! We walked away with a few loans! My daughter graduated in the top 10% with Distinction in her major, yet she barely received the school offered scholarships. As an American from a working class family, she should have received a merit based scholarship! Vivik doesn't want Americans who are gifted. He wants to pay low wages to Indians and Chinese who don't have to worry about paying back loans!

In Silicon Valley, "Best of the Best" would be a wise move. But in the rest of the U.S., us "average folks", hiring "Best of the Best" means the workers would want higher wages, which in turn will cause our everyday prices to gradually go up and up. I can think of a couple companies who raised their employee wages, which caused prices to increase. And not necessarily doctors and college graduates...`

Do you want to know the difference between Americans who are gifted academically, they want to make healthcare affordable, food, housing for all Americans. The foreigners care only about themselves. Half of them send money back to their countries. If you ever meet a foreigner who has lived here for a decade or more and have a thick accent it is because they don't speak English or listen to shows in English. They stay immersed in their country and stay in communities around other people like them. They don't become Americans. They bring their country with them. I know because my foreign mother from Switzerland had her French accent but it was not thick! Why? Because she immersed into our American culture and she was a Christian. Melania Trump, has a very thick accent. Trust me, she is not proud to be an American!

I may be detested for this comment but the issue is not immigrants in my opinion. It’s the American education system. The knowledge it delivers is extremely simplified compared to other countries. People graduate undertrained and ill-equipped for actual jobs. American high schools only cover ~60% of the knowledge base compared to Europe or Asia. The dumbing down of education in the U.S. needs to stop. Americans are smart people who need to be challenged by academic programs significantly more. Just my opinion

Entanglement between government and private enterprise is essentially a great evil. It is better to live in a nation that does not strive to be "first" in everything than in one in which business and government are in "cooperation" with each other. Mussolini should have taught us that. Musk is undoubtedly a genius in certain specific areas. He is not truly qualified to determine what is sound policy in a free country. What happens when a company is beholden to the government for "essential" needs. This is not a racist or xenophobic position - it is an economic one. Just as the immigrant is being blackmailed, so is the company by the government. This is seriously unhealthy. We don't need to involve the argument against illegal immigrants here. This is a specific economics principles discussion. We have allowed our government to become too deeply involved in business - it is why some businesses cannot be brought to account, like Pfizer, for one. They have too much power in government. They buy politicians. Likewise, this reliance on government for a workforce is wrong. A free marketplace is the best guarantee of the healthy society and success. I am not an "Elon hater". I am also not an "Elon worshipper". He has done remarkable things. Now we know he has had a lot of help from the government through H-1B. Immigrants need to go through the same process. We also need to attack the problem of qualifications from the other side - get gender studies out of our education system, put away the phony "reading" methods and stop rewarding mountebanks in education. Provide excellence and demand the same from students, stop the "social passes", excise the dead wood - the communists and weirdos in our colleges and universities. If we rely on immigration for a workforce our country cannot succeed because we will have a class of super slaves and a class of native born unemployeds lying around on drugs because this is easier for the likes of Elon Musk. America is not here to serve Elon Musk.
Remember - Mussolini made the trains run on time. His own people hanged him upside down in the public square.

      Don’t fall for it.
These billionaires and corporations donate to these universities to promote what “they” want for the students.
Why have our schools gone downhill so badly? Why have our kids been taught “wokeism” instead of all the things that made us great? Why haven’t our schools been implementing proper work ethics for success?
There are entirely too many American employees that have had to train their h1b replacements if they wanted to get their severance package.
It only takes a few months to train them. Why not do that for Americans?
Why were all these tech companies filled with American “woke” employees for decades, and now they can’t open the door for citizens that are hungry for the jobs, that are responsible, hardworking and loyal? We still have half the country with those ethics.
With h1b, they can pay less but just remember how you feel when you’re trying to get a problem dealt with but there is a huge communication gap.
Also remember that this doesn’t only apply to tech. This goes across the board from Disney to McDonalds. Minimum wage workers are also negatively impacted from this.
There are other things wrong with this but I mentioned enough.
      Don’t let them fool you.
