Eye rinses are quite common in Japan, especially for people with allergies. I love mine for whenever I've worn mascara because there's just so much residual makeup left floating around in your eyes. They can also be soothing for contact wearers. But I also doubt that any doctors would recommend them since you can't really sanitize the cup.
My optometrist recommended me using eye rinse with a cup when I was working as a dog groomer. I live in the US and I was able to buy it at CVS or Albertsons (i forget where I actually got it) The cup had to be washed before and after using it(I washed with regular soap and water) Using the cup was better than regular eye rinsing with saline bottle because it can get messy with excess saline dripping all over your face and neck😅 I still use it when my eyes are itchy from pollen or when its irritated from dirt/dust from a windy day😁
I'm sure the cup and the saline solution are sanitzed or could be sanitized, but what I'm worried about is the bacteria on your skin around your eye. When you tip the cup up, the water sloshes all around your eye area including your eyelid and eyelashes. It seems like it would wash all the bacteria from your surrounding skin directly into your eye. I can't see this doing anything but making your eye problems worse. I would never ever do this unless instructed by a doctor.

I used to work in an optometric practice that sold a LOT of those eye rinse cups. From my schooling, I can tell you that they're not great for you, because they wash away a lot of the oily layer in your tears that prevents evaporation. You'd be FAR better off keeping your lid margins clean and gently exfoliated, avoiding artificial lashes, replacing eye cosmetics frequently and taking GOOD CARE of your contact lenses. Use a saline rinse if you get something in your eyes, absolutely, but don't make it a part of your nightly routine.
Cleaning eyes is the new detox it seems. You drink green juice to detox your liver and kidneys - the organs that do the real detoxing. Now you can shove a solution in your eyes - to clean a self cleaning organ. The best thing I did was to shove a k-tip down my ears when I was young. I got a clump of wax next to my ear drum. That hurt so bad I had to go to the doctor to have it removed. The pain plus the lecture I got from the doctor kept me from doing it ever again and learning to trust doctors when they say: LEAVE IT ALONE.
The rhinestones were probably attached with either liquid latex or spirit gum. Most likely latex because with spirit gum, you can also get spirit gum remover, so that would've been easier to remove. I'm only guessing based on the fact that I do SFX makeup quite often and I am all too familiar with the struggle of removing latex. She also probably put a thin layer of vaseline over her eyebrows to keep them from getting ripped out when removing the rhinestones. 😊
She could’ve used eyeshadow glue as well, although with doing that many I would’ve just used liquid latex. But when I have to do a small amount of rhinestones I just use eyelash glue sparingly.
Really uncomfortable at how wasteful those routines are. Feels like environmentally detrimental, financially irresponsible, narcissistic, clickbait garbage
Yeah it makes me irritated but I know some people would call me irrational for it Bc I feel everything ur saying AND I think some people will look at these videos without much knowledge of skincare and take them at face value, and they'll think it's what they are "supposed" to do or that it's actually helpful 🙄😫
I've finally developed a good skincare routine and use a few products. These lengthy routines stress me out lmao. Maintaining a 3 step routine is hard enough with ADHD 🤣
The last lady scared the heck out of me when she "cleansed" her face with that cloth 😱 that thing is harsh! I only use it on my heels and elbows (tough skin). Have used it few times on arms and legs but they got pretty red so I stopped 😂
Bhad baby is a young lady who was on Dr. Phil as a "troubled teen" who went viral for becoming aggressive during an interview and challenging the audience by saying "catch me outside". She's a bit problematic at times but has recently brought to light some serious issues In the at risk youth programs/retreats here in America. (They're actually super crazy. Apparently parents can pay money to have their kids quite literally kidnapped in the middle of the night and taken to residential at-risk behavioral programs which can be very traumatic)
Didn't Paris Hilton just publicly talk about this? Like her parents had people paid to take her in in the middle of the night where she was basically put solitary confinement, had to shower under (male) supervision and stuff .. she was underage and this must have been pretty traumatic. Glad they are putting their voice and publicity to make this public. These facilities make money off traumatic experiences for kids.
As someone who has had major eye surgery, eye rinses are not needed (as far as my surgeon recommended). All you need are some saline/moisturizing drops for when the eyes get very dry and irritated. Something beneficial you can do once a month is use cool-boiled-water (still slight warm) and a lint free cotton round/towel. Very gently massage the eye lid in small circular motions. This helps relax your eye muscles and just help with any eye strain. It does tend to make your vision slightly blurry afterwards (due to relaxed muscles) so definitely don’t do it too often, and always be very gentle around the eye area! 😁
The rinses are drying, much like saline solution in the eye, you should only use them if you have an infection that is causing crusties, since it's less painful and scarring than rubbing, or if you get something in your eye, it's good to have if you get dust or an eyelash often, or frequent stys
Can that technique help with eyes that don't fully close to help them close? I've noticed my eyes are dry when i wake up cause they don't fully close when I'm sleeping (even when i have no fans on and my eye mask falls off when I'm sleeping)
I cackled when James started laughing when Danielle said she ripped a scap off. Like, gurl... that's gonna keep happening when you rub your face against skateboard grip tape!
I live in Japan and because many are allergic to pollen, people use the eye rinse to help with the itchiness of the eyes! others use it to clean their eyes before putting on contact lenses☺️
I have to say the first video clip was probably stolen from Chinese TikTok and posted on International TikTok. All the captions in Chinese are mirrored. Also that sheet mask was promoted as a medical sheet mask that facilitates healing, which is a very popular kind of mask in China right now. I love the content, James!
I bet people who suffer from adult acne like me may benefit from those "healing masks." Hmm video idea perhaps. Thanks for the info, never heard of them
You’re exactly right. I’ve been watching a ton of that Douyin user’s videos. Her name is Ma Bao’er (the anglicized spelling is some variation of Ma Bao er, Ma Baoer, etc.)
to remove the rhinestones, i’d say the most effective, gentle method would be to apply isopropyl myristate, wait a few minutes, then gently rub them off - isopropyl myristate melts latex, so if you used a latex based adhesive (like eyelash glue or prosaide) it’ll literally melt it away and make it super easy. if you used spirit gum, u gotta use spirit gum remover to get that off, and that shit will be irritating as hell. honestly pros-aide cream is the best adhesive for prosthetic applications - it’s strong but it’s still gentle enough to be non-irritating on the skin - i have sensitive acne prone skin and had zero issues with it when we were learning prosthetics in makeup school.
Instead of paper masks I use the thin cotton squares and soak them in my favorite toner to spot hydrate. I keep them in an old moisturizer container I cleaned out so they are really convenient
I've heard that using neosporin too much can potentially cause antibiotic resistance so that's kind of terrifying that she apparently uses it every day as part of her routine
Yes! Antibiotic resistance is a real and potentially serious thing. I don’t know if it comes over the counter in the US, but always best to consult a professional before starting to use it every day, and for just like one or two small pimples you’re probably doing more harm than good.
The brain cells I've lost trying to decipher his skincare routine...my husband listens to that darn Island Boy song that went viral & it drives me crazy😂 Bad Bahbie (or bhabie?) became known after she was on an episode of Dr Phil, I believe? She was on a few episodes of his show actually. She recently called him out for the abuse she and others suffered at the behavior ranch he sent her to.
I personally LOVE using the KillFace’s 100% Lye-based water mask. It gives your skin a mild first-degree burn and rejuvenate it by allowing the skin to heal! You will notice a HUGE difference as the scar heal and tighten. Your face will become so smooth it’s almost unrecognizable even to your family!
@@missbraindamage I’m assuming it’s similar to micro needling where it causes super mild damage that triggers your skin to focus energy on healing the skin which helps with lines and acne scarring. I don’t know much about it that’s just what I assume it’s for.
@@aquilahawkeKillface is a fictional character and this is satire. Was funny to me but people are really gullible and don't use critical thinking (or any thinking sometimes) so some people could think lye is good for your face. I mean, someone even said it must cause "mild damage" like microneedling 💀💀💀
I've used antibacterial ointment (neosporin) for pimples and it definitely can work! For me, it seemed to force the pimples to a head so they'd become more noticeable for a time, but it did prevent worsening breakouts and hydrated my skin. Kinda made an occlusive layer and drew the dirt and stuff to the surface
It's just funny to me how there are so many people who are naturally blessed with clear skin, almost no pimples and they do these crazy skincare routines thinking they are doing something. In reality they are just damaging their skin in the long run. Just because someones skin looks clear doesnt mean their skin is healthy (especially with all those filters that are used on the internet) And then people see these videos and think that the routine must work when their skin is so beautiful! Like no, their skin would look the same (and probably even better) if they used a fucking dove soap and water. It just looks clear by nature. 😂
I have only used the eye rinse thing in Japan when I had pink eye or something. I haven't seen it as part of a skincare routine but only as helping your eye heal from something!
I like the idea of an eye rinse after a balm or oil cleanser. I haven't tried it, but I do know that those products can make my eyes cloudy for a second if I use them for eye makeup and some gets through while I am trying to get mascara and eyeliner off.
idk if it’s good to do this regularly but when my eyes are over irritated from a long day in makeup and my cleanse has made the makeup go into my eyes somehow I also use some gentle eye drops one drop in each eye and then use a tiny bit of water on cotton pads swiped gently over them
I do agree with you, last year I had this thought that skincare can just fix my life! But that just made my relationship with skincare very toxic so I mean I just kind of took a break from skin care. Now I definitely have this healthy relationship with skincare and I know what it can and can’t do for me. Thank you for your content, I did feel like you’re stuck with what you believed in and you know, just because Cerave and The Ordinary were popular you didn’t say oh my God it’s my holy grail! You just spoke about whatever you loved and it was fun watching you getting all excited about it, and thank you again!
those scrubbing clothes are used only on the body really(at least in korea). the thing is you soak your body first so your dead skin on your body is easy to pill and wash off. imo it’s wayyyy to harsh for the face(it basically feels like sand paper) however it’s great for making your skin soft and even in colour :)
When I was a teenager I was exfoliating every morning with a wash cloth because benzoyl peroxide made my skin flaky even though I moisturized. I realized eventually that it was doing scary things to my skin, so that poor girl scrubbing her skin twice a day is going to figure it out too...
Honestly I was diagnosed with a skin-picking order and I still struggle - so after a session, I use Neosporin because I scratched at them. So I get it!!
my sister had to use my lipstick to write on the mirror to encourage herself to NOT!! it's hard!! i have to wear barrettes b/c if i don't, i CONSTANTLY run my hand through my hair and comb out the dead ones, and i started to compulsively gather them and leave it in little locks around the house, the combing drives my dad nuts (random stuff annoys us about the ppl we love), the barrettes help. or a ponytail holder.
I'd had dermatillomania for YEARS and then I went on accuntane for my cystic acne, so obviously picking them got about 1000 times more dangerous. I stuck a red piece of plastic over my bathroom light so I couldn't see them. It worked a bit, but it's taken me years and years to kick the habit. I even had hypnotherapy and CBT therapy to try and help but in the end it was just by force of will and the acne product taking away a lot of the visual triggers for me. I supose it helped that picking skin while on accutane hurts so, so badly
I've got a tendency to pick at any pimples I have and even the pimples of my husband lol I'm trying to get better but skincare has helped because it keeps the pimples away so the triggers don't appear anyway.
I could see the Neosporin being //similar// (Please read with all reservation) to slugging because those products are filled with oils and petrolatum to block dirt and bacteria from entering a wound. It would be like using petroleum jelly/ Vaseline/ Aquaphor on your face each night. James, you are so kind and generous with each of these videos. Truly a kind soul.
My only concern about using an antibiotic as skincare is creating antibiotic resistant bacteria (and that ya know, we need bacteria on our faces in general. Certain beneficial Bacteria and humans do need each other to function well)
These are all so over the top lol ... James, I love you so much, your authenticity, humility and humor! I don't need to watch anyone else for skincare advice or skincare-related entertainment. Also, looking at your glowing skin in each video is a pleasure. Thanks for making great content!!♥
She probably used Spirit Gum to stick them on with and it’s usually sold with adhesive remover. It will break down the adhesive and make it easier to remove. If you have sensitive skin I wouldn’t recommend using Spirit Gum even with the adhesive remover. The product and irritation that just comes with having something on your face will likely irritate your skin and cause a flare up anyway. Test it on a part of your face that is the most sensitive and only put one or two stones on and keep them on for a few hours, then take them off with the remover to see if you’re sensitive to the remover as well. That way if you do have a reaction, it’s just in one small place and likely won’t scar as bad or cause a bad reaction over your whole face. If you’re very sensitive to products I’d do this with every new product you try.
You are the brad mondo of skincare!!! The long pause at mr sunbathing guys vid!👌🤣🤣🤣 also the scrubbing sound on bhadbabies vid.😮😮😮😮 I used to use sudocrem on spots as a teen. Its zinc.
James, I love your laugh! And I love how you're not here to tear people apart. You're like "Ok...ok....its not the worst thing" (neosporin) "....but if you wouldn't have damaged your skin in the first place..." 🙄😆😆😆 You're the best! Keep doing what you're doing!
For the first one, I think that routine is perfect for a little spa day, I wouldn't call that triple cleansing, she is just using the eye makeup remover to remove eye makeup, because obviously oil cleansing balm would not be able to remove it. And the sheet mask she uses is actually a medical sheet mask to clear pimples, doctors would prescribe this mask to patients who struggle with acne, so going in with that mask after some extraction is a good idea.
That last girl. I really would like to see her face in a close up! And she still looks young, I think her skin won't be able to handle such a harsh routine as she gets older.
Please! As a medical worker and long time lens wearer, dont do eye rinses! They are completely drying and bad for your eyes... you do that to treat infections or accidents with chemicals so you get everything out of your eyes ... you see how bad it is when the eyes are red afterwards... if you have dry eyes, this will make it worse.. buy/use special eye drops, if you have really dry eyes there are gel like eye drop that keep them fresh for hours... but do not rinse unless its medically required.
I stick to micellar water on cotton rounds now, but when I do wash my face at the sink I just wear a pair of those kitschy terry-fabric elastic wristbands! They’re perfect for catching all the water so that it can’t run down to my elbows :)
@@stormbourbon8379 if they came up with it maybe lol but I've seen someone recommend it years ago now I just need to get me some. Imagine wearing one and having short hair like me and people thinking why does she have them on with no hair anyway. 😅😂

Yeah that green mit is rough. I have those for my body (mainly my legs and feet) and even if I don't apply pressure you can still feel how rough it is.
Omg that's exactly me! Has to be even no weird digging. Definitely no crumbs in butter.. I've had people at work ask if they could use my butter, and I'm like sure but... 1. no crumbs in the butter 2. no scraping butter off your knife on the edge of the container 3. do not dig holes in it, keep it smooth
Hm I wonder how she got that scab on her face in the first place, definitely not from using that mit or anything. I get a feeling any of the cuts never get to heal, so her putting neosporin on is the only thing keeping her from potentially getting an infection or something in those cuts if they can't heal due to her skin care routine
I usually like using products that last, feel nice and don’t damage usually I’m not very extra at all so this seems like a lot to me. The neosporin kinda surprised me because usually you would put that on the bandage to stop a cut from infection and help the healing process lol.
I love that you audio describe what they’re doing because as a blind person I would have no clue - I know it would make shit content if you just watched and didn’t react but thank you LOL
Eye rinses should only be used if you get something in your eyes or they are infected somehow as they can be drying, but since it's just saline it's safe
I'd love if you did a video devoted to eye rinses! I always get my oil cleanser in my eyes and use eye drops to rinse it out, I didn't even know about a special eye rinse and I'm so intrigued
I have a suspicion the guy using the "sun and water" to cleanse his skin may be talking about something like Oxy 10 which is drying and cracks. That's just my thought. Otherwise, you're right, I don't know of any other cream that dries and cracks.
That’s immediately where my mind went. The advice I was given as a pimply teen was to use benzoyl peroxide creams and salicylic acid products, and it dried out my skin SO bad. I’m a much less pimply adult entirely due to figuring out what actually works and not turning my face into the Sahara.

From his video I ordered the niacimide serum and that red exfoliator from The Ordinary and from The Inkey List the retinol and I also added to my routine Cerave’s moisturizer and foaming cleanser and currently my skin is clear, I barely have pimples. the way you immediately stopped when you saw the first lady’s cleansing balm scoop out pattern is sending me 😂 love your videos!
@antiantipoda the eyes aren't the only self-cleaning body parts people are obsessed with cleaning nowadays, unfortunately...
@@xeaux definitely could've been eyelash glue as well, although I don't find that it sticks as hard as liquid latex.

Really uncomfortable at how wasteful those routines are. Feels like environmentally detrimental, financially irresponsible, narcissistic, clickbait garbage

You said it all
And who has the time or energy for all of that???
Me too 😢😢😢awful
Yeah it makes me irritated but I know some people would call me irrational for it
Bc I feel everything ur saying AND I think some people will look at these videos without much knowledge of skincare and take them at face value, and they'll think it's what they are "supposed" to do or that it's actually helpful 🙄😫

The last lady scared the heck out of me when she "cleansed" her face with that cloth 😱 that thing is harsh! I only use it on my heels and elbows (tough skin). Have used it few times on arms and legs but they got pretty red so I stopped 😂
James’ eyes being so watery after Bhad Bhabie started to bleed from the mitt makes me know there’s outtakes of him pissing himself laughing 😂
Oh HER! I didn’t recognise her!
@@JamesWelsh Yeah, I think she was like 13 when she was on the show. Puberty and money have done wonders lol
THAT'S why I knew that name! It was driving me nuts. I knew it was from SOMEWHERE, but I couldn't remember...🙂
Parents. Pay. To have their kids kidnapped in the middle of the night and taken to a facility for the audience quick laugh?!? Is it legal??
Very informative! Thanks!
Is this a self-care thing, allergies, or for tired eyes??
Can that technique help with eyes that don't fully close to help them close? I've noticed my eyes are dry when i wake up cause they don't fully close when I'm sleeping (even when i have no fans on and my eye mask falls off when I'm sleeping)
My eye doctor told me I could do them but didn’t like prescribe it. To keep the waterline really clean because bad dry eye
Bad Babies skin care is like "Scratch me oustside, how bout that" XD
I cackled when James started laughing when Danielle said she ripped a scap off. Like, gurl... that's gonna keep happening when you rub your face against skateboard grip tape!
I live in Japan and because many are allergic to pollen, people use the eye rinse to help with the itchiness of the eyes! others use it to clean their eyes before putting on contact lenses☺️
I need to ask my doctor about this!! My allergies are rough and my eyes are so dry I can’t even wear contacts.
Do you know the name of those healing masks?
to remove the rhinestones, i’d say the most effective, gentle method would be to apply isopropyl myristate, wait a few minutes, then gently rub them off - isopropyl myristate melts latex, so if you used a latex based adhesive (like eyelash glue or prosaide) it’ll literally melt it away and make it super easy. if you used spirit gum, u gotta use spirit gum remover to get that off, and that shit will be irritating as hell. honestly pros-aide cream is the best adhesive for prosthetic applications - it’s strong but it’s still gentle enough to be non-irritating on the skin - i have sensitive acne prone skin and had zero issues with it when we were learning prosthetics in makeup school.
Instead of paper masks I use the thin cotton squares and soak them in my favorite toner to spot hydrate. I keep them in an old moisturizer container I cleaned out so they are really convenient
So smart!!!
I had the exact reaction as James at that 14 minute mark. He had us jumping hoops to make sense of that routine
James: pores.

Got it.
The way you’re so sweet and polite and not making fun of any of these people, but still have me laughing my ass off at your reactions 😂😂
When the scrubbing girl put that acne treatment right over the still-bleeding spot, ngl, I screamed irl. 😱
The brain cells I've lost trying to decipher his skincare routine...my husband listens to that darn Island Boy song that went viral & it drives me crazy😂 Bad Bahbie (or bhabie?) became known after she was on an episode of Dr Phil, I believe? The PCA products she was using is a medical grade product, so you're right on that. I thoroughly enjoy your reaction vids☺️
Is that “cash me outside”??? HOW did I not know these were the same person? 😳

Wait what?! Burns?!
@@missbraindamage I’m assuming it’s similar to micro needling where it causes super mild damage that triggers your skin to focus energy on healing the skin which helps with lines and acne scarring. I don’t know much about it that’s just what I assume it’s for.

My stomach turned when she used that exfoliating body mitt to wash her face and she kept bleeding 🤮🤮
Might have to try that for any deep set pimples
It's just funny to me how there are so many people who are naturally blessed with clear skin, almost no pimples and they do these crazy skincare routines thinking they are doing something. In reality they are just damaging their skin in the long run. Just because someones skin looks clear doesnt mean their skin is healthy (especially with all those filters that are used on the internet)
And then people see these videos and think that the routine must work when their skin is so beautiful! Like no, their skin would look the same (and probably even better) if they used a fucking dove soap and water. It just looks clear by nature. 😂
and moisturizer, can’t forget that skin barrier…
seriously, most of these people would be better off ditching everything and just using SPF!
@@imawakemymindisalive13 don't forget the sunscreen!!

I just really love how you are trying to educate people and that you don’t try to bring them down.
I use eye drops after my cleanse, that seems to bring all the left over makeup gunk together
idk if it’s good to do this regularly but when my eyes are over irritated from a long day in makeup and my cleanse has made the makeup go into my eyes somehow I also use some gentle eye drops one drop in each eye and then use a tiny bit of water on cotton pads swiped gently over them
I do agree with you, last year I had this thought that skincare can just fix my life! But that just made my relationship with skincare very toxic so I mean I just kind of took a break from skin care. Now I definitely have this healthy relationship with skincare and I know what it can and can’t do for me. I'm here for the little pieces of gray coming in James!!!
those scrubbing clothes are used only on the body really(at least in korea). the thing is you soak your body first so your dead skin on your body is easy to pill and wash off. imo it’s wayyyy to harsh for the face(it basically feels like sand paper) however it’s great for making your skin soft and even in colour :)
When I was a teenager I was exfoliating every morning with a wash cloth because benzoyl peroxide made my skin flaky even though I moisturized. I realized eventually that it was doing scary things to my skin, so that poor girl scrubbing her skin twice a day is going to figure it out too...
Lol, watching the cogs turning trying to make sense if the tattoo'd guys routine! I was right there with you James! 🤣🤣

The water dripping down your arms thing… I thought I was the only one!! I invested in wrist sweatbands to use while washing my face 😂😂
It’s just asking for antibiotic-resistant bacteria to develop on your body though.
My only concern about using an antibiotic as skincare is creating antibiotic resistant bacteria (and that ya know, we need bacteria on our faces in general. Certain beneficial Bacteria and humans do need each other to function well)
Scrunchie on each wrist stops water from dripping down your arms when washing your face, I HATE that too!!!

PSA: Don‘t put liquid latex on your eyebrows, if you want to keep them.
If you’re very sensitive to products I’d do this with every new product you try.
scrubbing twice a day is not only damaging, it can also be dangerous considering the uv from the sun.

What is the healing mask you are talking about?? I have acne and I'm curious
Why would an oil cleansing balm not remove the make up?
Love the amount of glow of your skin today James!

2. no scraping butter off your knife on the edge of the container
3. do not dig holes in it, keep it smooth

I tried products like Clean&Clear, that black mask of the brand Gaulíe that hurts like hell, some Garnier products, Bioten scrubs, etc and nothing worked.
After spending lots of money on products, one day TH-cam recommends me Hyram’s channel and I watched his “The Inkey List vs The Ordinary” video. From his video I ordered the niacimide serum and that red exfoliator from The Ordinary and from The Inkey List the retinol and I also added to my routine Cerave’s moisturizer and foaming cleanser and currently my skin is clear, I barely have pimples.
