Very eye opening. Important to be aware of waste anesthesia gas toxicity and prevention of exposure. Thank you

Your welcome! Let us know if you have a WAG prevention program in your department! If not and you do implement change, such as a scavenging system be sure to comment with an update! Thanks- Cathy and Wendy! Let your voice be heard!

Hello, Nurse Kathy, have you looked into contacting the American Nurses Association about WAG in the PACU with all your evidence and studies? Maybe the ANA can help with OSHA in mandating scavenging systems in all areas exposed to WAG.

Hi VonFisch, thank you for your comment. The National Association of Perianesthesia Nurses is work on this matter. See in the show notes their clean air campaign. Cathy

@@pacunursingminutes Thanks for pointing that out, hope progress continues.
I've been watching your videos, thinking of an ambulatory PACU job at this new surgery center but now I am concerned about this exposure, especially since I've had sensitivities to medications as well as an inherited liver condition. Not sure if this is the right idea at this time if it's slow going. It is disturbing. I wouldn't think if I was hired and new, I'd be starting in on getting them to adopt this scavenging system. I wouldn't be able to even ask in an interview if they are doing it, they'd say, thank you and goodbye.
