    I agree Mark about the luxury goods that people don't care. I had a friend who brought a very expensive car to impress a group of people. That group of people talked about his car for 30 seconds and then they never mentioned the car again.

      @@abccba9763 Buying a car might cost you opportunity to make more money and a car is almost never a good investment (unless you make money with it). Why buy a nice car at a young age when you can use that money to make more money and later buy whatever car you want and not feel that you spent all your money on something...

    Hi mate, I’ve almost never seen a video in which someone breaks down revenue achievable with a small (5-20 employees) business in a transparent way.
    lots of young men out there on a mission to be a billionaire, many don’t realise that making 200-1m is achievable with a good old fashioned small business.

    The idea of investing a significant sum of money may be both thrilling and intimidating. There is potential for considerable wealth increase with the correct strategy. How can one take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings/net-worth to about $3M over time?

    Thanks for the video Mark, I'm at a crossroads in life. I started a business in my parent's garage with a £50 set of headlights, and now on track to make a million in sales with no finance or loans.
    This economic crash will be like no other though, and trying to get a suitable commercial property is a nightmare. My only hope is that a bonus of this recession will be the availability of property at a sensible price.

    Mark I really need to thank you.
    I'm an electrician from Kent, UK. A hands on job that I LOVE, self employed. No way to automate it or earn money without exchanging for my time. I don’t want to expand because I really enjoy my work as it is. Nice work/life balance.
    I've always worried about the future. How I'm going to live comfortably in 30 years when I retire. Your investment videos have opened my eyes.
    I've been investing regularly since I came across them and it's giving me a feeling of proper security for myself and my family. Even during the recent downturn, I'm seeing it as an opportunity rather than a disaster for my future self.

      @marktilbury  2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Hi, that’s a very personal question, the younger your are the better it is to learn and take the extra money latter but as you get older you need the money to prepare for your retirement. It’s really a decision you have to make yourself. Good luck MT 😎

    • @AJohnson0325
      @AJohnson0325 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would try to get the best of both. Some high paying jobs will have a steep learning curve. You can learn a lot when you step outside of your comfort zone. As long as you’re a likeable person and don’t burn any bridges, people should be willing to teach. In a lot of cases it depends more on your personality and if people actually like you and want to work with you than how much you know.

    • @daveeeeee89
      @daveeeeee89 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Most businesses can’t be relied upon to develop you, you often need to carve out time and do it yourself.
      I’d only take the lower paying job if there is a rock solid commitment for them to pay you more at the end of the training.
      Else I’d take the higher paying job and still develop myself ready for the next job which will be higher still!
      The more you earn early in your career and invest, the better you will do with compounding :)

    Yes I love that analogy Mark! I keep telling people they can't buy groceries or pay bills with equity. Also that equity needs to generate cash flow so you can effectively live (survive) on the money generated from property. That takes some time too I might add.

    Mark, cars are my passion. Especially a bmw. I can afford one with all cash now and I'm in my late 20s. Should I go ahead and buy one now? I fees I have to because in future I might not be able to enjoy the car so much as I do now

    • @Spigz76
      @Spigz76 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bought a Porsche in my 20s as it was always my dream car. But in my case it was a 928 that was already nearly as old as me! I did so because they were rare, and figured it would appreciate in value long after I’d had my fun (which I did, a lot!). Now closer to 50 than 40, I’d say it worked out well- the car has appreciated in value, and hopefully will continue to do so.
      If however you’re thinking of buying a new BMW, I’d suggest not. You will still be able to enjoy such a car in your 40s, and with age you’re probably less likely to park it in a tree! If however you were considering an old classic BMW, there could be some merit there, but usually they would produce cars in such volume as to not become collectible; BMWs are not my thing, so you’d have to do your homework there on which model might become a classic in future. You’re looking for low production numbers, manual gearbox, special “M” packages etc.
      Final thought- if you do go for it, look around classic car insurance companies first. When I bought the Porsche the standard insurer DirectLine quoted me an annual premium nearly more than the cost of the car! (£5k), a classic car insurer had it at £300! Good luck :)

      Hi , great advice Anthony ! But it’s also worth remembering that the car may or may not increase, normally not. If you invested say £10k into the S&P 500 history over time that’s going to return you a cash profit. It’s all about choices. I am 54 now and I can buy all the things I have really wanted and not worry about how that will affect my future. Thanks for watching MT 😎

      Hi, I gave you the answer to your question at the end of the video and also during it. To good to be true needs to be forgotten as it will more likely lose the money you invest, index funds will historically return on average 8% a year and that’s what my main investment is. Hope this helps. MT 😎

    Great video Mark, been investing for the last couple years now and plan to retain my shares for at least 20 years, the majority of my money is in the S&P500, but hearing increasing reports it may drop anywhere from 30-50% what are your thoughts and are you continuing to invest? I use the dollar cost averaging so the same amount once per month

Unfortunately im still playing the game and studying a masters which will be over in 2023. I am fortunate enough to have made about some side cash in property and I am hoping to retire from teaching and move fully into property lets whilst my investments made on property gains make my living money in the background - so I guess even teachers can find a way !

    The Market has been pretty bad until today it decided to surge. As the economic crisis keep rising, one needs to have different streams of income, It keeps dipping. That's what you get when you feel you can navigate the process on your own. Big thanks to Ray Dalio's Principles. I'm not bothered with how bad the Market is because my assets are insured due to his advice and I still receive my profits.
