For any U.K. viewers: I saw this whisky reviewed by Phil on Whisky Wednesday and then bought a bottle from Ben at The Spirit Specialist in Yorkshire, so you can definitely get it on this side of the Atlantic too, if you're curious...
Thanks for the video. I actually just picked this up today on clearance for $17 as a bit of a novelty to compare to Mellow Corn. It’s a nice looking bottle at a minimum! 😀
You had me at sweet corn pie. When you were talking about the distillation, I couldn't pick up the word you used. Did you mean they don't cull the heads and tail cuts? I thought you had to cull the head cut to avoid methanol.
Yeah apparently they don't cut the heads or tails off the distillation. They would have to cut at least a little bit or we would all go blind. Haha. I couldn't get a hold of anyone from the distillery to see what they meant by no cuts.
I really like to see your reviews/videos. It is great to see what kind of whiskies are produced in other parts of the world. Best wishes from germany...
@@SrChatty A Straight Corn Whiskey has to have a minimum of 80% corn, but must be aged for at least two years in uncharred new, or used barrels. Abasolo definitely qualifies.
@@DerpRulesAll Thank you so much for explaining! 🙏🤓👍 Have you tried it? I bought a bottle the other day, and was surprised to say the least! I have only limited experience with Bourbon, and Whisky in general, and I don't think I've ever tried (Straight) Corn Whisky before. The sweet corn flavor is predominant, but overall it actually reminds me more of a Grappa, or Pisco, rather than Whisky. It says it's been aged for 2 years, but you (I) really couldn't tell! 😶🥃
@@SrChatty I have a bottle that I make Old Fashioned drinks with. The thing about Corn Whiskey in general, as opposed to Bourbon, is that there's not supposed to be a barrel influence. Corn Whiskey, minus the 'Straight' designation, doesn't have to be aged at all. That's interesting that it tastes like unaged Brandy to you, BTW.
@@DerpRulesAll I heard, or saw, someone else also saying they used it for making Old Fashioned with, I guess I'll have to try that! 😁👍 Generally, though, I feel it might be somewhat too sweet, and low proof, in an OF for me. I prefer Ryes with both high rye and proof for OF 😁🥃
@@BubblebathBourbon so I'm not an expert but basically they aren't cutting the tails/feints off the distillation run. This leads to a generally alcoholiness, kind of weird feints sometimes.

I enjoy it very much! Thanks for the informative review!
Great review! I didn’t know much about this going in but had seen the label a few times.
Thanks Jeffrey!

Found it on sale for 25 locally and I'm giving it a go. Seems fair for the price so I can try it.
Saw it on the shelf. Thanks for doing this review. I think I'll leave it there.
Yeah it's not very good. I am hoping when they have enough money they will use new casks. 🤞
Thank you for this one, liked and subscribed 🤙

This is great corn whiskey. Unique flavor.
I’m so curious about this one! Lovely to hear your thoughts as always ☺️🥃
Nice review. I’ll have to watch for it on my next trip to Az...

Good review educational
If this was made in the 'States, it would qualify as a Straight Corn Whiskey.
Because it's 100% corn?

It is a bad whisky, nothing going on.
