This project fund by Kerala government, Central and Adani port private limited, Vizhinjam port is being built on a public-private-partnership mode, First phase amounts to 7,700 crore rupee, Combined cost of all four phases is 20,000 crore making the total cost 27,700 crore.

Vizhinjam is a State Government project. Kerala govt have spent 5000 crores for the project. No financial assistance from Shipping ministry. Only Viability gap fund of 800 cr. But Viability gap fund are being given to all Ppp projects. Central Shipping ministry invested huge amount in Tuticorin and other major ports and hesitated to invest at Vizhinjam. The port will be commissioned within two months. The credit of the project goes to Kerala Government.
The roads in Kerala are already congested and the loaded trucks make the traffic more hectic. Hope they build dedicated roads or connect with rail corridors. And the unionism is a big threat to proper functioning of the Port. Needs to control that too. Hope Vizhinjam works as it is intended.
Thats why NH 66 is reconstructing to 6 lines now. Currently that job is going very fast comparing to any other road constructions happened before in kerala. NH 66 is from mumbai to trivandrum. This highway can solve the most of the traffic issues and very good for trucks and trailers to reach the places on time. Through this highway containers can be transfered fastly by road to other parts of india.

That port lies very far away from international ship circuit.... Vizhinjam lies just 20km away..so it will attract international ships.. Also vizhinnam has natural depth of 20m which assist big ships..... Otherwise constant dredging is needed which is expensive
It would help if the ports are given simple names so that both foreigners and rest of India can pronounce easily. It was sad to see the video maker struggling with the name Vizhinjam. If you want good branding, keep the names simple.
It's the name of the place so ofcourse it will be so, plus what's with the "Branding" argument. Xiaomi phones are top sellers here even if the name is hard to pronounce. The name is least of the concern for a port. It's not our fault he can't pronounce it. Languages have differences. Hindi just doesn't have the "zha" sound. Let everyone learn instead of turning away from it.
At first the GOI planned to build the marine terminal at colachel, Kanyakumari district. But local fishermen protested against that. Also it is maritime biosphere region. the environmentalists raised concern about that. So the plan shifted to Vizhinjam.

That port lies very far away from international ship circuit.... Vizhinjam lies just 20km away..so it will attract international ships..
Also vizhinnam has natural depth of 20m which assist big ships..... Otherwise constant dredging is needed which is expensive

It would help if the ports are given simple names so that both foreigners and rest of India can pronounce easily. It was sad to see the video maker struggling with the name Vizhinjam. If you want good branding, keep the names simple.
It's the name of the place so ofcourse it will be so, plus what's with the "Branding" argument. Xiaomi phones are top sellers here even if the name is hard to pronounce. The name is least of the concern for a port. It's not our fault he can't pronounce it. Languages have differences. Hindi just doesn't have the "zha" sound. Let everyone learn instead of turning away from it.
At first the GOI planned to build the marine terminal at colachel, Kanyakumari district. But local fishermen protested against that. Also it is maritime biosphere region. the environmentalists raised concern about that. So the plan shifted to Vizhinjam.
