  • Description and demonstration of the radius turner I made for my lathe. This ball-turner will turn convex and concave radii.
I forgot to mention the rake angle for the inserts is 5 degrees.

I copied your ball turner for my Atlas lathe after looking at your video about 20 times it turned out very well and works great ! Thank you for sharing.

I really like the idea of the moving disc with the ring running in a recess on a bed of grease. This no doubt aids stability greatly and stops the unit rocking about the centre as might be the case with other designs I have seen that just use 2 flat mating surfaces. Thanks for sharing this with us, I will be making one to this style at some point soon.

From a old Atlas to a Grizzly, just like me, but still have several old Atlas 101's and tons of parts for them, but really enjoy the G 0709 gun smith lathe. Nice job on the ball turner, the finish is so good I can see you walking around in the mirror finish, 👍👍👍👍

You obviously a very good Engineer, but please mount your camera on a stationary mount, I suffered motion sickness about 1/2 way through you video.

That looks great, I'm tempted to make one for my Boxford (which is anAtlas/South Bend copy), i'm guessing about 3 inch diameter stock, have not got a milling machine so will have to do it with my milling attachment, but great work!

Very good video. When you make a new one I might be interested in the old one. I hav a craftsman/atlas. I don’t have a milling machine.

Would love to get just the general measurements of the 3 main pieces so I can make it for my Atlas.

Awesome dude. Glad you showed both concave and convex type cuts. Say would you consider making on for a Hf mini lathe? I don’t have a mailing machine and I can’t find one anywhere. 🤪🤪🤪

Its a fun project and if you do make one try to figure out how to make it so you don't have to remove your compound. I am wanting to do just that.

I don't care how neat your idea and design is for a ball turner,......if you can't video without constant camera moving I won't watch. Can't find even 5 seconds of still video.😠
