Sweety NHT does not sell to young people even for these very small houses. You will need to build NHT points first and that takes some years. So you will find mid age to retired people qualifying to obtain one of these.
My one issue with this is that there is not enough cabinets in the kitchen.... personally, instead of dining table I would put in an island with a large counter top to accommodate 4 stools and has 3 cabinets .... this would cover storage, dining for 4 and extra work space
I love these, finally something in the price range that people can afford & of course it have to be the Chinese to build them and not the Jamaican contractors who want American prices and squeeze you till yuh bruk.

I would buy this! It’s a nice starter home and with the land space you have an option to expand. Off the top of my head I would borrow more money, add a wash room, an extra bedroom, and make a bigger kitchen.
I love the price. What a cute little starter home. Since it is a one bed. Bathroom should have been en suite rather than into the open plan area. I do wish that they would build the kitchen as a room rather than open plan which is so popular these days. Always battling with food smells in the fabrics. Would be nice to have space for a washing machine. Working people don't have time to hand wash everything.
Actually it’s best to have bathroom out the bedroom area since nobody want visitors going through their bedroom to use bathroom😆 yea I thought that about the washer, but I guess there’s enough space out back to eventually add the laundry room
The bathroom idea doesn't cut it though. Would you want every visitor to be walking through your bedroom to use the bathroom? Think about if you are at home (with your spouse) and you also had an overnight visitor who is sleeping on the sofa bed (in the living room) and they want to use the bathroom at 2am. As for the kitchen, you could get a stainless steel extractor fan installed over the stove to get rid of the cooking smell. Open concept kitchen seems to be the new thing. Don't like how some of them are designed (layout) but some looks really nice. A refreshing change.

One bedroom houses in St Catherine depending ON THE LOCATION. It can start from 165USD TO 300USD. for other parishes it varies such as for Kingston some rent starts at 300USD TO 600USD for a one bedroom depending on the type of home, location and what it offers. You can look on real estate market to get an idea.

I really believe the reason why they don't allow building on top of that structure is because they probably built it with poor/cheap materials and labor that cannot maintain the weight of additional floors. The foundation work and required materials are different why compare a home built for 1 story vs 2 story.
This is good if you plan to add at the sides and back. It is so small. You will be living in it while construction is going on. Is it worth It? .It is just a starter if you really are low in funds.

I have not idea what the selection process is at all, just to clear things up as well I am just a content creator. I do not work for NHT or HAJ. When I went to do the tour of the place they told me that the Application process was already closed for the houses that were available through HAJ

It's built just like the quads in other parts of Greater Portmore, the foundation isn't deep enough. But the walls strong as hell so don't be discouraged.

They’re not sturdy enough
It's built just like the quads in other parts of Greater Portmore, the foundation isn't deep enough. But the walls strong as hell so don't be discouraged.

They furnished inside the house well however I am turned off by the size of the house and the fact that all the houses look the same and are close together. Almost look like a fema camp.
