    Full replay of the Men's Canoe Double final in which Great Britain's Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott won Gold during the London 2012 Olympic Games.
    In 1924 in Paris, flatwater canoeing featured at the Games as a demonstration sport. Canoe and kayak racing became full medal sports at the 1936 Berlin Games. However events were initially limited to canoe sprint until canoe slalom made its debut at the 1972 Munich Games. Slalom racing was not competed again in the Olympic Games until the 1992 Barcelona Games.

    I had the privilege of competing in C2. My racing partner's son, Jeff Larimer, another slalom bud's son, Eric Heard, raced in this event in London. Unfortunately, they didn't make the finals. Very proud of the them for carrying all of our Olympic dreams to the Games. To me it's a premier event.

    I love the summer Olympics. Started watching everything I can a year in advance before Tokyo. Didn’t know about this event. Now I’m a big fan. I’m exhausted just watching it. HUGE respect to these athletes.

      Same here and it's weird because for how unknown it is, it looks like something that would have been really expensive for the Olympic committee to set up. I would imagine it would be really expensive to build that river and keep that water flowing.

      Watching the 2020 Olympics made me feel dumb for not realizing that this, archery, and ping pong tennis were all official Olympic sports. I will say they are now my favorite events, though :)

    Watching again because I won't see it this year. Remember watching this live. Never leapt out of my seat before.

    if you are broadcasting for your OWN country, you are allowed to show bias cause no other countries will get the commentary, so going 'come on Great Britain' is fine if no other countries hear the commentary

    Can't blame the casters for being a little biased, as we say in France "don't turn your back on your enjoyment" i watched it live back then was so disappointed for Klauss/Péché, but seeing both brits boats enjoying themselves gave me a smile, they totally deserved it! Bravo !

    I was at the stadium, one of the best moments of my life was when the Slovakians got that penalty. The roar didn't sound big but from my stand it was so loud it was funny that we were cheering so hard at other peoples expense!

    but the commentators didn't know that, they thought it was just for GB, they didn't know it was going on the Olympic youtube channe

    • @mercifulzeus01
      @mercifulzeus01 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The IOC archive often doesn't have any commentary - look at most of the Rio and Tokyo replays. They had a lot for 2012, but for some events they took other feeds such as this one from the BBC (Paul Dickenson and Helen Reeves). So obviously there's a bit of GB bias. At least they don't do what Eurosport do, just add a new commentary to an archive piece and pretend the commentator was there at the time...

      Lauren 5 years later, if you're still interested a penalty is if they miss a goalposts or hit the posts, then they get time added to their score.
