I've been following EOS for 4 years. I believe this is wonderful technology! Zinc/air has been around for years and EOS has solved its daunting problems. Zinc air is many times cheaper-zinc is ubiquitous-they store 3 times the energy than Li, are lighter, and can be cycled 10,000 times. I believe, however, they charge slower and can't discharge very fast. They may not be a good choice for cars. They are wonderful for solar storage though. I believe a great application is to use them to store solar energy in Summer for use in Winter. Steps should be taken to minimize self discharge. I want to charge or plate the zinc plates in Summer, separate the plates from the electrolyte and reassemble them in Winter. In this way excess solar energy gathered in Summer can be saved for Winter. EOS sells large batteries to utilities and industries to efficiently provide peak power.

For those of u thinking this is just experimental u might need to learn that EOS has been installing their truck sized batteries at utilities, Apple, Amazon, etc for several years. Eos has a $55M order backlog. and $4B in commitments. I bought stock in it (actually the warrants-symbol: EOSEW).

And, yes, from what I've read about this technology several years ago I think this guy gave a weak presentation.

The batteries are the size of a delivery truck and store many mega watt hours of charge.

I think zinc air would do well for motorcycles and this is the reason why. Motorcycles presently have to carry a great deal of bulk and weight in lithium batteries but just don't have the capacity for decent range. The same volume of zinc energy cells and storage could go much farther or so it it would seem. Albeit with reduced performance is still sufficient for highway speeds at 2 to 3X that of lithium. Just a thought. Thanks

Batteries 🔋 are definitely the future and good luck to this guy. But this segment has absolutely nothing to do with Tesla.

It's great technology. Rather flaccid performance on this interview though. "We feel" doesn't exactly sound convincing.

lol now all of a sudden the battery companies will be coming out trying to capture the hype..
tesla already has the best battery and more importantly scale, manufacturing and constant innovation
keep trying.. this isnt even an EV battery

@@rRobertSmith lmao obviously you dont keep up.. they arent using cobalt anymore
and they displayed the whole pilot assembly line that creates the batteries at battery day
what reality check? did you even watch the video ? he said Zinc's batteries arent even for EV's lmao

@@rRobertSmith the "prototypes" are already in the cars they're selling. Don't be naive! Due diligence man. The battery they introduced on battery day is a real thing, and they will be in the Plaid Model S, cybertruck, and upcoming Tesla models. Likely to be in their 25k compact car coming in 2024 as well. They do a great job working hard without revealing or boasting, so you're not gonna "see" the prototype, but believe me, they're manufacturing them already. These Zinc batteries aren't being scaled to compete against being a battery provider to EV companies, this is all about energy storage for power to grid solutions. Totally different and I presume there will be plenty of space in the future for both of them to grow.

Li-Ion batteries are great for the 1-2 hour range of energy storage (talking about grid storage, not cars). Anything beyond 4 hours li-ion efficiency falls off a cliff. Other technologies will be used in conjunction with li-ion for LDES. Eos is not targeting car batteries
