okay, I know a lot of people don't know how the animation industry runs and I can understand why this kind of opinion is all over the community. But, the change with the Vincent cut is NOT ruined but fixed well. Anime has a process the first is what Vincent did; the layout and the genga, the second douga which is inbetweening the frame, and finally coloring and composition. So what Vincent doing was overusing the genga and making the movement more expressive and smooth. I also like how the cut came out. But, if the Genga has a lot of frames the other douga or coloring or composition will take way more time. This would cause a schedule problem and can lead to a delay. So, I think the Sakkan or enshutsu who are the initial animation directors, removed all additional frames and made it more durable with the schedule. I really understand why some people are mad about this incident but, vincent also knows why this problem occurred and it's an unavoidable fix.
This is why Vincent said he wouldn't work for Ufotable because of how strict they are about keeping things 'in pocket'. Sure they *could* make something like Sukuna vs Mahoraga, but they wouldn't want to do that because of how many layers of compositing they would have to put on animation as complex or as smear-filled as his. Their compositing already takes a shit load of time (hence why they only have like 2 really good sakuga cuts every season in Demon Slayer), and that already takes a year while including the fact that Nozomu Abe (they guy who does said cuts) has animation that is far more grounded that Vincent's. This fight alone would take possibly 5-8 months to make (probably higher), and would take so long in fact that they wouldn't be making an anime standard to their strongsuit, but a passion project.
this has happened in JJK s2 too, i remember seeing a entire cut genga from the episode where yuji fights in a corner with mahito because of the schedules.
i mean, mappa already has too much, we probably would've gotten the same result as here, both bones and mappa are outstanding studios with some of the best people in the industery, or if i'm reading this wrong and you mean everything was gonna get ruined out of overwork then yeah mappa really needs to take less shows this upcoming bit...
@@nesraspongx58 well sitting aside the over worked employees I was talking Abt animation wise and how much gore they put in animes. For some reason bones has not put a lot of the gore and stuff in the anime like it was in the manga, like there was a scene in the manga where Shiggys jaw was dislocated and looked liked it was Abt to fall off and bunch of blood but in the anime his mouth just looked open. Some of animes that MAPPA has worked on(that I've seen that is) like chainsaw man, hells paradise, aot season 4, and jjk didn't hold back on the blood. And as well as some of the colors that they use to animate and shade. I would like to MHA in MAPPAS animating style thats all I'm saying.
@@ImAlsoLonely998 huh, that's a cool point, to be perfectly honest i haven't personally watched mha, i was talking about bones in more broad terms (space dandy, technically cowboy bebop, mob psycho 100, fullmetal alchemist and fullmetal alchemist brotherhood,oh yeah right and soul eater, just to name what comes to me at the top of my head) i personally do not know what in leadership caused things like these and it being more tame than the manga, but you do put out an intressting point tho depending on the reason why such things were done i still think fixing management is more important (but keep zombie land saga with mappa lol xD (okay probably not, it would fit at home with kyoto and that would help remove some strain from mappa animators but yeah))
@@nesraspongx58 I've watched the majority of MHA and read quite a bit of the manga and manga is way better. But now this is my theory and I'm not one of those "oH I doNt WaTcH iT bC oF tHe fAnDoM!" But I generally believe that bc the majority of the MHA fanbase is so childish and babied that they cater to them so they make MHA seem like it's for a younger audience when in the manga it's got a ton of gore and blood (especially with shiggy and more recent chapters) besides some of MHA's terrible arc writing *cough* war arc *cough* if someone else besides bones got ahold of this anime (In this situation MAPPA) then it could've been something, and most likely wouldve have the dame quality as the manga (and probably a different fanbase in general)
@@ImAlsoLonely998 but isn't the fanbase problem a different one from a studio problem ??? perhaps it being animated by mappa from the very begining of the anime (esspicially if the anime started these past couple of years) COULD have changed the fanbase slightly, i think it's first arc or season could still have given us the same one, and even then won't the people who have the rights be the ones in control of how much it gets watered down the most ??? and secondly is the director of course but i still think it's less of a studio thing but more of a general management thing, i do not know who made such decisions, if it's the rightholders then no studio change would've done anything, if it's the director then we could change him even without changing the studio, if it's the studio's management themselves then changing the studio is the solution and i mean, when did a studio shift change the fanbase ??? it could def change the quality (idk how much tho if we try to assume it has the same rightsholders and timelines) but the fanbase would remain the largely the same, if i'm not mistaken back when season one of mha released mappa didn't have the same catalogue of darker shows yet, so even if we assume that was from the very begining i doubt it would've changed much
I have seen many people unhappy on bones, but a slight clarification, the power to make the decisions about the anime purely stays with the production committee and the studio has no say on this, The most likely scenario why this happened was because the commitee gave only one and half year to animate 25 episodes, like thats too short, And when vincent was asked to make the layout he gave his best but since the staff was still young and in experienced, his layout was destroyed completed or made drastic changes so that the animators can animate it in lesser time.
@@rishitsinha8041 yeah, the circumstances leaded to that, no one is to blame on this case, since that season of MHA was produced during COVID, and due to that it was rushed
I found your video through an article and my favorite part was how you said "i want let the scene speak for itself, i want to let you see this and just like see what could have been and just how butchered it really was in the grand scheme of things. So here it is just look at this sequence ok" and then you proceed to talk the entire time throughout the entire clip.
1:49 the animation at this part on Vincent’s part is absolutely amazing, don’t get me wrong, but in sense of MHA, it’s TOO much movement. Yes, lots of movement is good, but sometimes it’s just over the top lol. (I’m not hating or discrediting, I’m just starting my personal opinion :])
That's fair, but I really disliked how instead of the fluid camera movement from her facing the camera to the camera below her facing up, they just did a straight cut, no animation in-between, that stands out to me as the laziest decision they could've possibly made.
Insane thing is, this probably only took Vincent a weekend to animate lmao we've seen him accomplish a bigger feat with a small snippet of a fate scene he did (and he did that one just for fun).
I hope you in the future talk about some of the super interesting things happening in the mha manga, instead of the issues with it. Its something ive started to see when looking at your channel, only really reviewing the negatives of the series while before you reviewed the episodes and how the chapters were going. Hope you can bring that back one day.
It sucks so much because the actual manga for bnha is PHENOMINAL, Horikoshi's art has improved so much over the years, and Vincent was trying to capture how good the manga was in the anime! ,...only for it to be RUINED. Love Bones to death for picking up my hero academia and giving it the recognition it deserved, but also so many amazing panels from the original manga have been completely lost in translation to the point I almost don't even want to recommend the anime anymore, because the manga is SO much better Imagine if TRIGGER animated my hero academia, I think we would have a field day
At the time there were things going on, like you mentioned. Personally I like MHA and that scene didn't feel that bad at the time, sure it looks more lively in the original cut but we could only speculate why it wasn't finished 100%. Season 6's War ark had some of MHA best animation to date and now season 7 will probably be around the same quality. It's not unwatchable is what I'm trying to say. Vincent surely is an incredible animator and it would be nice if all these studios and decisions makers gave him and other amazing animators more time. JJK's second season was heavily nerfed and that's crazy to say considering how good the animation already is. The anime industry has some of the best animators this world has seen, with more time they could do great things.
ur tweaking if u think S6 animation was better than 1-3. Also they gave Vincent a decent amount of time (then again he’s mad man when working) but it’s the ppl that clean up his work or just the core staff the finish the product that didn’t have time, the overall schedule has been not so good.
@@8ooty0 Season 1-3 has some of MHA peaks, yes, not denying that. Also yes, that's what I'm saying, the schedule is just not the best, but there is probably someone responsible for that.

should be especially for the hype moments, they have some mob psycho staff on hand and they helped with ep 19 of season 6 mha, i believe. And that episode/fight looked soooo good.
I think the original version was a little too busy to be honest. I’ve heard it referred to as “forced animation.” It’s visual pollution when there’s too much pointless movement and blur and shapes. The hand shaking would have been nice, but other than that, the final cut shows you everything you need to see.
To make it even worse that was meant to be a HUGE moment in the show as one of the biggest enemies started to evolve and adapt to their power and truly make it theirs. It was hype in the manga and poorly executed in the anime big L on the final cut animators part
Right ? Especially since this happens constantly to his work since he goes over what he's been told to do 😭 it's happened in jjk a whopping tree times but I never see anyone talking about that
They should've went with Vincent's idea with that scene, would've been so much better then what we actually got. I really hope Vincent sticks around for the Ochako vs Toga fight that happens close to the end of the War arc, and that they stick to his ideas.
Sooo dude made an absolute banger and it was looking crispy as fuck and they cut ALL OF IT!!! The disrespect towards his hard work is crazy here. I know they didnt have time and all that but that would make anyone sad. After working so hard on the thing you love doing and thinking of all the people that are going to watch it and how excited they are going to get. Only for all your work to get ruined so bad its not even the thing you were working on anymore. Now that pain is a real punch in the gut
5:51 this is a big thing. When I had switched from watching the anime to the manga I completely missed out on my villain academia. This decision is just so bizarre to me
Now this might just be me not having a very good eye, but these seem like very minor things, but no matter what it’s definitely not a butchering. The scene had slightly less impact but overall it’s perfectly fine.
Naotoshi was always my favorite animator out of every anime I've ever seen, but after seeing the GLORIOUS work of Vincent both in this genga, in One Piece's Wano Arc and in PEAKBUYA INCIDENT Arc, I can't decide between Shida and Vincent Chansard.
I never even know who Vincent was or he did sukunas domain (one of my favorite moments in anime in general) but it’s sad to see his work just get slaughtered to the tinsy bits that make the finale look horrible and I don’t even watch my hero academia
Chibi there's no way you decided to introduce Vincent by showing off his least notable animations. bro had an entire catalogue to pull out of but decided to showcase a stationary Sukuna
Vincent Chansard has repeatedly emphasized that the staff were working to the bare end to complete it and simply couldn’t because of how long and complicated it was and the extreme production issues season 5 faced in its later half. I don’t understand the point of these videos that try and make it seem as if the Bones MHA staff is somehow “ruining” the freelancers’ work bc y’all just end up blatantly blurting out misinformation to get some quick clout instead of actually doing the research.
The trailer for season 7 does look very promising looks better than season 6 and the movie looks damn good ( that's maybe we're half of the staff left too)
Why bring on a talented animator who has the ability to make very promisingly epic work if you ain't even gonna fkn use it? They literally butchered this man's work og.
Yeah, I was just seeing that earlier on Twitter and going, "Wait wtf?!" One Piece, JJK, MHA are so good, but the anime productions been fumbled for the latter two for a bit. Sad!
one piece has a really good staff rotation different teams on different episodes and well with jjk see how that turned out😂, vincent legit tweeted he's never working for mappa ever again along with the other animators
Pretty much none of the rest of my hero has that high quality of animation from what I remember, would have been absolutely sick to see My Hero with this kind of animation but I think it was just him being amazing next to the rest of the studio. My guess is a mix of director not agreeing and the animators not being able to keep up with that level of animation.
my guess is they want to keep the consistency of the animation style, even that meant some great parts got nerfed. The thing about One Piece roof top fight animations is the style and quality changes a lot, but we don't care, because good animation is good animation
One piece is all over the places, there is zero effort of quality control and consistency due to how many freelancers working on the show coming in and out. One moment its the typical weekly slideshow fest and the next its YT fan animation that doesn't match the artstyle or likeness of previous stuff. Wish we could go back to the 90s where there were some effort put on technical drawings than full cartoon physics and drop in quality for more frames..
I like to point out the hand movements are not the same between toga and sukuna. Sukuna actually made a sign with hands and toga only touch her fingers together. Toga is using uraraka power so she has to touch her fingers together. So saying there the same is an idiot move. Sorry I don’t mean to hate on you, it’s just saying they were the same really irritated me.
Okay my boy. Let's pump the breaks. The animation isn't a detailed, but to call this low budget. We've all seen low budget. No movement. Mouth moves and body stays still. Hair doesn't sway at all. The director just changed the scene. Make since Vincent wouldn't want his name associated w/ it because this isn't his work, but calling THIS low budget is a little overboard.
This reminds me of how i felt when i started reading the manga and season 4 was coming out. I'd felt so disappointed by the animation that it overall soured my enjoyment of the entire series

okay, I know a lot of people don't know how the animation industry runs and I can understand why this kind of opinion is all over the community.
This fight alone would take possibly 5-8 months to make (probably higher), and would take so long in fact that they wouldn't be making an anime standard to their strongsuit, but a passion project.
yeah, but it still looks better
this has happened in JJK s2 too, i remember seeing a entire cut genga from the episode where yuji fights in a corner with mahito because of the schedules.
what was cut? Cuz that ep was intense!
imagine if MAPPA got ahold of mha. Considering some of the animes they've worked on it would be a blood bath that has been holding back for 8 years.
i mean, mappa already has too much, we probably would've gotten the same result as here, both bones and mappa are outstanding studios with some of the best people in the industery, or if i'm reading this wrong and you mean everything was gonna get ruined out of overwork then yeah mappa really needs to take less shows this upcoming bit...
@@ImAlsoLonely998
huh, that's a cool point, to be perfectly honest i haven't personally watched mha, i was talking about bones in more broad terms (space dandy, technically cowboy bebop, mob psycho 100, fullmetal alchemist and fullmetal alchemist brotherhood,oh yeah right and soul eater, just to name what comes to me at the top of my head)
i personally do not know what in leadership caused things like these and it being more tame than the manga, but you do put out an intressting point
tho depending on the reason why such things were done i still think fixing management is more important (but keep zombie land saga with mappa lol xD (okay probably not, it would fit at home with kyoto and that would help remove some strain from mappa animators but yeah))
@@ImAlsoLonely998 but isn't the fanbase problem a different one from a studio problem ???
perhaps it being animated by mappa from the very begining of the anime (esspicially if the anime started these past couple of years) COULD have changed the fanbase slightly, i think it's first arc or season could still have given us the same one, and even then won't the people who have the rights be the ones in control of how much it gets watered down the most ???
and secondly is the director of course but i still think it's less of a studio thing but more of a general management thing, i do not know who made such decisions, if it's the rightholders then no studio change would've done anything, if it's the director then we could change him even without changing the studio, if it's the studio's management themselves then changing the studio is the solution
and i mean, when did a studio shift change the fanbase ???
it could def change the quality (idk how much tho if we try to assume it has the same rightsholders and timelines) but the fanbase would remain the largely the same, if i'm not mistaken back when season one of mha released mappa didn't have the same catalogue of darker shows yet, so even if we assume that was from the very begining i doubt it would've changed much

Probably bc people aren’t keeping up w mha like that anymore
@@hahayay1086 true
Fun fact: the whole fight of Sukuna vs Mahoraga was just 30% done...
Dude goes so overboard that production can't keep up
I have seen many people unhappy on bones, but a slight clarification, the power to make the decisions about the anime purely stays with the production committee and the studio has no say on this, The most likely scenario why this happened was because the commitee gave only one and half year to animate 25 episodes, like thats too short, And when vincent was asked to make the layout he gave his best but since the staff was still young and in experienced, his layout was destroyed completed or made drastic changes so that the animators can animate it in lesser time.

Bro Vincent literally said no one is to blame for that on twitter but chibi didn't even show about
@@rishitsinha8041 yeah, the circumstances leaded to that, no one is to blame on this case, since that season of MHA was produced during COVID, and due to that it was rushed
Vincent admitted though. He stated that he can see why they didn't include some parts. He went overboard on some parts

“Im going to let the scene speak for itself” processes to pause and speak throughout the whole scene 🤦🏽♂️
The same thing happened for one of Vincent’s cuts for jjks2 ep17. There wasn’t time for it, so it got nuked.
@@WestGarbage6 yeah, definitely. There are def things I prefer with Vincent’s original animation, like the subtle hand shaking movement for example
It’s a funny coincidence how many goated animators or 3D artists are French. Like they’re possessed by the ghosts of the past French artists.

That's all he ever complains about
bro really skill issued a whole studio
It sucks so much because the actual manga for bnha is PHENOMINAL, Horikoshi's art has improved so much over the years, and Vincent was trying to capture how good the manga was in the anime!
,...only for it to be RUINED. Love Bones to death for picking up my hero academia and giving it the recognition it deserved, but also so many amazing panels from the original manga have been completely lost in translation to the point I almost don't even want to recommend the anime anymore, because the manga is SO much better
Imagine if TRIGGER animated my hero academia, I think we would have a field day
At the time there were things going on, like you mentioned.

Its very sad to see the possibility that was taken away
Not letting Vincent chensard cook should be a criminal offence
Not letting any animators cook is a criminal offence..
The Studio probably is wondering while inspecting Vincent's part if there's a lost MAPPA animator among them
I think the original version was a little too busy to be honest. I’ve heard it referred to as “forced animation.” It’s visual pollution when there’s too much pointless movement and blur and shapes. The hand shaking would have been nice, but other than that, the final cut shows you everything you need to see.
We went from peak to piss
To make it even worse that was meant to be a HUGE moment in the show as one of the biggest enemies started to evolve and adapt to their power and truly make it theirs. It was hype in the manga and poorly executed in the anime big L on the final cut animators part
For the next 13 seconds following a domain expansion, Big Gambele, is effectively Sukuna
kinda wondering why you made the video about this even tough it happened few years ago already
Because it only trended on Twitter a few days ago
My guess is the director found it too off model so it could not be fit in smoothly.

Sir, this is the internet. Everything is either a W or an L. No nuanced perspectives here.
This dude is literally the moist critikal of anime
the ones who "butchered" the scene deserve more credit, not vincent. shitting all over their livelyhood is fucked up. and vincent agrees
I never even know who Vincent was or he did sukunas domain (one of my favorite moments in anime in general) but it’s sad to see his work just get slaughtered to the tinsy bits that make the finale look horrible and I don’t even watch my hero academia
he was simply to powerful, the animators had to take it down a notch, they just couldn't handle his talent.
Expectation vs Reality oof
Chibi there's no way you decided to introduce Vincent by showing off his least notable animations. bro had an entire catalogue to pull out of but decided to showcase a stationary Sukuna
WE COULDVE HAD RHAT??
My theory is that it took so long for Vincent to finish the layout to the point that the animators have to rush it?
Vincent Chansard has repeatedly emphasized that the staff were working to the bare end to complete it and simply couldn’t because of how long and complicated it was and the extreme production issues season 5 faced in its later half. I don’t understand the point of these videos that try and make it seem as if the Bones MHA staff is somehow “ruining” the freelancers’ work bc y’all just end up blatantly blurting out misinformation to get some quick clout instead of actually doing the research.

I shall now cause the next ninga war: My hero Acidemia is Trash

“Ninga” 💀💀
Typo
Also, The reason why it’s bad is cuz Mappa animators are overworked, what if YOU had a very hard schedule huh?
it really shows how a person can make an 8 minute video off of like a 2 minute clip
my guess is they want to keep the consistency of the animation style, even that meant some great parts got nerfed. The thing about One Piece roof top fight animations is the style and quality changes a lot, but we don't care, because good animation is good animation
nope it’s the poor schedule that mha has
One piece is all over the places, there is zero effort of quality control and consistency due to how many freelancers working on the show coming in and out. One moment its the typical weekly slideshow fest and the next its YT fan animation that doesn't match the artstyle or likeness of previous stuff. Wish we could go back to the 90s where there were some effort put on technical drawings than full cartoon physics and drop in quality for more frames..
How did they make the unfinished animation more detailed and better than the finished animation.
Why do this Mha is such a good anime it deserves good animation
The worst part about this is the thought of how many times has this happened before? This certainly can't be a first in a 50+ year old industry
