I don't think I can agree with you on this one... South Park is still going strong... Just because one Season is weaker than others, does not necessarily mean its dead...
South Park used to funny in the 2000s to the early 2010s. The newer seasons from the late 2010s to 2020s felt boring to me whenever this show becomes too deep and realistic
Southpark used to be my favorite show hands down and now it feels like a chore when i watch it. I still hold on hope it will turn around but ive been waiting so long with no real signs of a come back that ive given up too many comedy central execs getting come on trey and matts back.
It lost it's charm when Kenny stopped dying in every episode and they relied 100% on current events I don't want to hear about. Like the honey joo joo stuff. With the girl from dancing from the stars. Like.. Can we go back to peeing on snowballs and taking advice from Chef?
South Park died? I think the Garrison / Trump thing was just a hiccup. South Park still makes me laugh. That's the important thing. Dead? Certainly not.
I don't think the show died at all. I just think people normally watch a show like south park to escape the negativity of real life. That said, when there's a season dedicated to referencing politics, the SJW agenda, trolls, etc. I think a lot more people are going to tune out.
I’m 4 years late but just wanted to say you absolutely nailed this. I haven’t watched a new episode of South Park since “Oh jeez”…it felt so off and really killed the show for me.
Yep the video has aged like fine wine, the show feels toothless now and without any edge to it. It's just "Haha look at these people taking things too far or seriously, Aren't we clever by mocking both sides" It outright feels hypocritical now, and the serialization makes jokes stick around for way too long.
Southpark is not dead...the Simpsons is dead but people still look forward to the new seasons of southpark and it dosent feel like watered down garbage....there still able to make unique storylines and episodes.....
Simpsons isn't dead, it's the fact that their style has been copied by EVERY other show since the late 90s, so The Simpsons seems stale because we see their style all over the place. Everyone says they died after season 10, but that's the same time Family Guy, Futurama, and shows like South Park came around. Think about it. If you were the first one to do something, then everyone copied you... Your style wouldn't be unique anymore, and that's exactly what happened to The Simpsons.
It have died you just haven't noticed it. yet The Day it started making games just proves how much it's struggling All of the horrible jokes they have made will Catch Up to Them eventually
To be fair even if we're going by the real world definition of death, it is possible to be technically dead and then be brought back if done so fast enough. Though it absolutely got worse for a bit in my opinion it never got so bad as to be dead.
@@Gavicrane or he is Just easily triggered and doesnt realize that south park makes Jokes Abt anyone even If youre White, disabled, anxious ,goth, mexican the list goes on
I enjoy Season 20 a lot, but it definitely has issues and I can see why others don’t like it. However, one ‘bad’ season in an over twenty-year run is incredible.
Yeah, I think as a general rule we should forgive one bad season for any series that’s been consistently great for 20 years, so if South Park makes it to 40 seasons, they can have another weaker season if they want too. 🤣
I think every season that isn't a different story each episode and has continuing stories have been terrible, didn't like Tegridy, PC principal or troll trace

Toopel I see, that def makes a lot more sense. And was worth posting, unlike the other guy - who probably didn't know what you've said. He is still using a sensationalist title, which still goes along with my point. He just made a whole thing of it.
I grew up watching South Park, started in 1st or second grade. I’m 30 now and it’s awesome because when I was growing up the boys were hilarious to me (still are) and now that I’m older randy is my favorite character.
I just hate all these channels claiming things are "dead" or they "died" when the shows are still going strong they just change their style somewhat. The newer seasons are great just different.
the video shouldve been: how south park has managed to stay relevant and in the limelight for so long, whilst other shows like family guy, the simpsons and american dad continue to lose there following.
I don't think they swung too far to either side. They made some way more subtle mistakes that have more to do with the complexity of the process of serialized writing and they lost their thread. The end of Season 20 is, in my opinion, so bad that leftists may claim it's bad because it's too far right and vice versa. But, in reality, they did not have a problem with any of the political sides, but with South Park itself.
It is a contradictory conclusion to the title. He acknowledges the show realizing Season 20 was handled poorly by the end and the effects it had on Season 21, but that's really all it is. It didn't die, it just took a big hit and took a while to recover. However, Mr. Garrison/Trump still exists and the show doesn't really know what to do with him aside from just omitting him from the Season. He can return later on if Trump doesn't get reelected, but honestly it's not an easy prediction. If there were people who were all for Trump before, they'd probably be at it again. :)
As a long time fan of the show, I really appreciate how South Park has been trying new things in the last several years. Not everything has worked perfectly, but they’ve still been great and I can appreciate them trying different things with the show
They're trying new things because they are desperate. They have no stories to tell anymore that are just about the boys, so they must rely on current events. The fact that Matt and Trey are willing to move the show into Zombie Simpsons territory, instead of bowing out gracefully, is very sad. I definitely lost some of my respect for them.
Trey and Matt are multi millionaires at least. Show has been running for almost 30 years to the point of them being to big to fail. Experimentation is an allowance and a luxury they can afford and I wouldnt be mad.
Kevin Arzola Not necessarily, the season did seem to have Hillary winning in mind, and it just doesn’t play out as well with Garrison. They finally let their bias show.
Man in the Moon did you even watch the season? It’s obvious you didn’t. They ripped on both of them hard. They made Hilary look like a bot that couldn’t say the right thing even when it was served on a platter for her. And they didn’t have her winning. They stated that they had 2 episodes ready for the eventual results of either of them winning.
I still watch and love South Park consistently..... I’m excited every time a new season comes out on Hulu or wherever. Can’t say the same about the simpsons or family guy.
Im Comparison to Family Guy or the simpson nearly every South Park Episode feels like something unique in which a social/political or atleast relateable problem is the main topic. Family Guy and the Simpson feels like random Scenes placed one after the other and jokes that couldve been in every other episode because they have very little to do with the actual topic , whereas jokes in South Park are based on the respective topic and are results from the plot
Without Hulu airing the episodes after they air on TV, I would be missing out on the show so much. I love Hulu simply for this show and I've rewatched this show two times in full now. I love it so much and while it did start to decline, the newer seasons are still amazing for me. I wish I could've seen the banned episodes before they were removed online as well.
Honnestly it was the first episode in a long time that would really stay on the memory, with episodes like trapped in the closet or the passion of the jew or 200 and 201 for how much they didn't care about consequences
@@redthunder9055 If he's a character in the show he's relevant. Plus he's considered a main character according to Google. He has a story like all the other kids and, like all the other kids, has some family problems/a not normal family. This is a great video. I noticed the episodes getting less funny for a couple seasons beforehand but I had to completely give up on South Park in Season 20. It just didn't have the same great writing that made the show hilarious before. And the Simpsons has already proven that an animated series can be terrible for decades and still be a cash cow, so we know financial success is totally separate from quality.
After 19 seasons, there's one season that you personally didn't enjoy and suddenly the show died? It seems like you just want a dramatic title for clicks. By your logic, this video was posted on the day that "The day that x died" died.
@Emmanuel chanda the complaints about this guy's video are legitimate. And the complaint that he's forcing this "peg" (South Park) into the "hole" of "The Day _ Died" is valid as well, because he is. And the reason these complaints are valid is because the real day South Park died was March 9th, 2005. And I make my case in the comment I posted in the main part of the comments section of this video (not as a sub of Rwz's comment), and my case doesn't involve forcing a round peg into a square hole. Check it out.
"Died" is too strong, especially with how much they improved the newer season as well as how relevant they still are. You can't exactly say the same thing about Family Guy and Simpsons
I really like this idea but I don't think it would really work that well. By nature, most really good shows simply start off really good as well. The shows that didn't are a bit of an exception.
A lot of people have asked about this. I'm not opposed to it. I just don't find the topic as interesting. I like the idea of being more positive though! :)
Your too obsessed with the idea that all shows die. South Park had tried something different with that season but they went back to serialized-light and are just as strong as ever

Agree, after season 20 I really don't understand what's going on... Look that they even try to be funny or interesting or anything. What are they trying to do?
Andrés Ramírez To me, some of their stuff deals with current events, the fact entire audience isn’t as informed as the creators sometimes makes it to where the episodes are much more funny a year or two after they originally air.
seasons 20 and 21 are not the ‘worst of the worst’. i found their narrative style approach to be refreshing and i welcomed it as a new form of south park. 20 is probably my favorite season, but i love all eras of south park
This video isn't at all like your "the day when blank died" videos on the Simpsons or Family Guy. You just pointed out one season that wasn't that great because of unforseen circumstances, then go on about how the show is fine now. South Park didn't die at the episode "Oh Geez" it was just a bad episode of a bad season.
@Entertain The Elk The problem is your video didn't give the impression that South Park had lost its steam. You just made an uninspired video that feels too familiar to videos ever since two years ago. The only thing new this video has is you saying Season 21 and 22 helped the show to recover. You didn't even say that it had lost its steam in the video, you just said "it has recovered" and ended it with "Oh Jeez is the Day South Park Died". I'm sorry but this is easily the weakest of your The Day X Died series because it feels like a retread of familiar videos with very little originality aside from a part that goes against the title of this video.

Southpark didn't die. It got funnier. *shrug*

That is literally his format for these... Just making the peg fit
That's because the day South Park died was actually March 9th, 2005. And I don't make the peg fit. Please see my comment in the main comments section.

Can you make an episode where a show started to live? Where they got in their stride? The office season 2? Season 2 Parks n Rec?
I really like this idea but I don't think it would really work that well. By nature, most really good shows simply start off really good as well.
The shows that didn't are a bit of an exception.
That's a good idea, for me though it's usually the second or fourth episode of every show I've ever watched, usually never the first.
