Thanks for doing such a thorough walkthrough of the TOPO2 and showcasing what is truly special about our trailer. We had an amazing time with you both & can't wait till next time!
Attention to detail… quality craftsmanship… made in America… great customer service! And award winning design- definitely the coolest looking camper on the road! 😊
Thank you! A/C option has been a game changer for a lot of our customers. We love the ROAM annex room - it makes our camp space just that much more comfortable!
These guys are amazing. If I was in the market for one I def would consider this unit. Perfectly showcased imo and I say that as someone that consumes a lot of TH-cam/Streams. Please make sure they showcase other products of yours in the future. Also, consider the "two porch option". One side full enclosed (screen porch with room for table and 2 chairs) and awning with oversize ez-up bathroom (we have a nice on for tent camping) on the other side. I think once someone is in for $48K option charging them $1000 more for the compatible bathroom and screen on other side is an easy sell. Maybe call in Base-camp or something like that. In any case great unit.
I have always been a teardrop fan but there were always some things lacking in the build, not this time! What a great, well thought out unit. Looks very well made.
I'm gonna be on my second teardrop trailer soon and I learned so much about what's important when starting my search for the eventual replacement. The build quality and single piece make me feel like the TOPO2 is gonna be on the road (and the off-road) for a long time. I definitely want one... the new $34k price makes it a no-brainer now for me. I struggling to find anything else for $34k that has everything I need and will truly stand up against the test of time.
The history of Teardrops is interesting. I remember them as a creation of a veteran right after WW2. We could rent one from him and take it camping. It was great fun. This is a terrific development of that origin. I really like the tongue. The potential theft of my teardrop was always a concern of mine as I liked to pick spots that were secluded. Congratulations to the mfg.
I see so many kitchens with their stove 4ft+ off the ground... it's a relief to see this one at a reasonable height. Otherwise I'll burn my face cooking bacon haha!! 😆
Wow, this is such a thorough walk through! This is such a cool product, and you guys really did a great job of communicating what's so great about it. Well done!
@@Weretherussos As van owners yourselves I'm curious how you think this product compares. What are some of the pros you see after having spent a night in one of these Escapods?
We have a Subaru Outback Wilderness and have been researching teardrop trailers. We’re stuck between the Bean trailer and this one from Escapod, both out of Utah. I really like the design aesthetic on this one. Plus I like the galley and outdoor shower option slightly better. Thanks for showcasing this. It’s “Russo” approved 👍
Great review. You always do an excellent job. I think this is a very appealing option for a lot of us, but $48K seems like an awful lot for a teardrop... That said, a nice option for those that want to find an option to buying a camper. To me this is more like tent camping which is appealing...more adventurous. What they really need to work on is really good tent/awning systems that don't allow bugs in. Maybe bathroom and awning on one side, porch on the other (with table). I love camping, but hate mosquitos. Anyway, hope you guys are doing well. Great to watch you guys living your dreams!
I am happy with my van but I always like to learn. Your reviews suck me in! Your attention to detail comes from your experience and makes the review second to none. Suddenly I could imagine myself in this teardrop! Good job.
I love that they’ve hidden some nice little conveniences around the TOPO 2, while keeping the rugged experience of a small trailer. Great design. Some day…🤞🏼
Appreciate you Russos! I think this is the best teardrop that I've seen that can b towed behind my Crosstrek. As the video was playing I kept thinking what else would need. Then at the very end you showed the Max Fan & air is a must have nr deep south with our extreme temps. Additional Equipment Needed - Water pump w filter (it easier than finding come liters at a time w my backpack gear) - air compressor (Must have to air down/ up tires on off-road adventures & fill-up all those must have water toys; paddle boards, kayaks, & lazy afternoon air mattresses) What extras would the Russos like to add?
Really great walkthrough of the trailer! Escapod has an excellent product. Loved seeing all the details and how it functions both inside and outside of the trailer. Thanks for sharing!
Of all the TH-cam videos on this teardrop trailer yours has been the best. Maybe it's because I know you actually are out there overlanding. Thanks for the video
What an interesting trailer, thanks for sharing. The price is not a surprise. This is not a mass produced trailer from Indiana. You could see the quality and thoughtfulness of design. With that weight lots is great TV options.
I really enjoy your thorough reviews. BTW I was the guy who ran into you at the Keystone display during Open House. We spoke of your review of the Safari Condo. Great job on this as usual.
I really loved the adjustable shelving and removable table. Great idea. The removable hitch may create a little bang’n and clang’n but I could live with that. Overall this is a win win for me. Pitty I’m in Australia it’ll be double the cost here.
I'd gladly pay $48k for my next teardrop if it's a single piece and has this spacious interior. Something I noticed with these kinds of smaller companies is that they don't seem to know how to handle customers or know why they made certain decisions about their campers. Did Escapod seem easy to work with and knew what they were talking about?
Yes very easy to work with and they know exactly what’s going on with their campers. They are running it like an auto manufacturer wheee things are tracked and if something goes wrong they can go back in their system and track your camper to see why and what happened and then resolve it for you
Hey Joe, this unit is very well built, well appointed and a good haul with lots of options. Just not a fan of not having an internal washroom and kitchen.
At 5:37. Ahh... this is my one major question. How does the rain not leak into the kitchen? That gutter is brilliant. Still... $50,000 for a teardrop trailer! 🤯
I've been interested in the teardrops and have looked at several, one really well built one in my home state of Alabama. But two things have discouraged from retiring my Aliner for a teardrop. First is that the rear hatch does not really seem to be sufficient for protection against wind and rain. If some of these builders would figure out how to incorporate an awning int the trailer design to protect the kitchen area it would be more appealing. I'm not one that wants to buy something and immediately have to start making modifications. The second thing is price. While I'd be willing to spend more money, it's hard for me to justify downsizing from the Aliner, which has served me well behind my FJC, to something smaller. But otherwise, this looks like a good rig to consider.
As always, great review!!! I'm a fan of the trailer but I don't see value in the price. For only a few thousand dollars more I could get a lot more value with quality. I won't mention the trailers I am thinking of, but I think most who are doing their research know. But this is a very good trailer, and it is well built.
According to a google search I can buy a new RPOD camper for about 10 grand less. Plus I can stand up and eat inside. Other than that it is a neat little rig.
Cool trailer! Really don't like that sink placement though. So somebody can't do the dishes while the other cooks without leaning over an open flame lol
Nicely done. Really nice overlanding trailer. But.... a starting price of $33k for the Nomad and $43k for the Voyager. LOL By the time one finishes adding accessories that are necessary, u can add $10k to $15k to that price. It can't take me anywhere--I need something with an engine to do that. I can't stand up in it. I can't use the bathroom in it, etc. I recently bought a Mazda CX-50 Meridian Edition. It has an awesome 256hp turbo engine that produces 320lbs of torque. AWD. Heating. Air conditioning. Beautifully appointed leather seating and other areas. An onboard computer system that automatically stops and drives my car. It has 4 wheels (not 2) with awesome suspension, wheels, and tires. The drive-train is incredible. And more... for $43k off the dealership's parking lot with taxes, title, fees, etc., included. The engineering and cost of the engine in my Mazda surpasses the cost of this entire teardrop trailer, alone. I'm not questioning whether this is a nicely engineered and built teardrop trailer. I'm questioning who in their right mind would spend this kind of money for something that's worth half the price? I wish I were young enough to have the time to engineer and build something of this quality for 1/2 the price. It can be done. And the individual that comes up with this formula will be a very rich person. If only I had Elon's phone #. lol
This is a really smart design, but to me “all season” means “winter camping” and “winter camping” means I want to be able Cook, shower and pee indoors 😀
