I have this one and I absolutely love it. Battery life is approximately 10 hours in Bluetooth mode. I use mine to Bluetooth to my bubbler jukebox. I like the fact that you control the volume from the unit itself. I bought mine from an eBay seller over the Christmas holidays for $59.95 with free shipping.

As far as the suitcase style players go, I really like this one. I like that forest green color with all the brass accents. The alligator skin trim looks pretty sharp too. It is also one of the more feature packed suitcase players that I've seen, with built-in rechargeable battery, bluetooth out streaming, and USB record and playback. The built-in speakers came across a bit tinny on this video, but then again, listening through a TH-cam video in less than ideal conditions. I would have to hear one in person to really get a good idea of just how well it sounds, but I would not expect much from such a low powered amp through dinky speakers from record being played on that typical $5 plastic turntable mechanism that these units are typically built around. Still, if somebody is in the market for a decent suitcase player, the one featured here may indeed be a good choice, even though this one seems a little more expensive than most other suitcase players. However, the feature set of this one may make the additional $20-$30 worth it.

I have an older version that uses a rechargeable battery. PUT A RECORD ON THE PLATTER and then place the strobe on top of the record as it is going to add drag to the platter. See if that slows it down any.

Is it just me or does many of these suitcase turntables all have a uniform look? Most of them look basically the same with minimal slight variations.

Parts all come from the same vendor (a factory that mass produces the separate parts), and then they are sent to the factory that assembles the final product. So that's why. Many different brands all share the same parts.

Because most suitcase players today are made in China by a few manufacturers, clients use the same template but request some features on top of it.

"Suitcase player" I guess a Hat box shape would be cool too. 🧐

I love the video of Techmoan checking out another GPO product - The "Brooklyn" boombox. Have you seen that one?

This has a nice combination of features.
The styling reminds me of the similar Crosley Executive I got a few years ago.
I got that in dark green because it reminded me of the 1950s Symphonic small tube suitcase player that was my first player in the 1950s.
That look is certainly what they were emulating with the case styling.
I also have other suitcase players with a built in rechargeable battery. But nice to see that with the Bluetooth transmitter and receiver.
I would certainly like to see these built in recorders jump to 256 or even 320 MP3 bitrate. It would then be ok with an impedance matched cartridge, to make casual playlists from your records.

With regard to the speaker placement on the sides of the unit, if there were covers over the speakers that were hinged at the back and could be moved in and out, they could act as reflectors and project the sound to the front. Thanks for another excellent review.

I have the GPO Memphis record player. It’s pretty basic does what it’s supposed to do but the needle has broken and I can’t seem to find replacements anywhere, so can’t use it and had to buy a new record player 😢

Ah you forgot the purpose of that extra mat is for those records that are warped that the edges will not hit the open cover remember ,but i like the way this looks and that alligator skin look I like from VWestlfe he said crosley made one with a battery or you added batteries to it but stopped making them and the sound was not full to me no bass ,mostly midrange and treble but thats what i expected there is noway they would match impediance for this type of player but its nice and I like it JRo

Nice overview. How does one upgrade the stylus/cartridge?

  • @TorontoJon

That rechargeable battery makes that record player truly portable. What's the point in other suitcase brands if they don't have battery power as an alternative in order to use them in a park or outdoors somewhere?

  • @Eric_Olsen

Another interesting product and the battery, recording is nice features. A good future video would be a budget AT-3600 showdown of component turntable's portable/suitcase record players and all in one featuring the white audio-technia 3600 stylus along with how the tracking force compares to the specs for the 3600.

You need to run a battery test and see how long you can play records without charging it.

Almost a shame I didn’t have to wait till after this came out to buy my record player seems like it is a pretty decent starter. I wouldn’t trade mine for it but it is a cool alternative! Plus I love the color XD

The record to USB feature on the GPO is way better than the same feature in my Pyle gramophone style all in one. My all in one is several years old, perhaps the tech improved, or GPO specified higher quality for their unit?

Great video! I´m thinking of getting one of these just for my old 78´s. Is the stylus ok for that? I´m not looking for the best sound I can get (obviously, then I would go for a Rega or similar). I just want something simple and cheap. Also, is the stylus some sort of standard, meaning it´s easy to buy replacement?
    Many thanks!

❤ Hey buddy thought the video was pretty cool I wouldn't buy it just because I've had a few and I don't need one at this point but it was really like the USB features although most of them stop working after a while but that's just my experience but I thought this 1 was probably the best 1 eighteexcept for my Beatles crossly portfolio that takes the cake but I love your channel sorry for the negative comments if they don't like it let them but I still think it's cso anyway Talk to you later thanks

It does seem that these players tend to be running fast. The way I see it, I’d pick slightly fast over slightly slow. Think of it this way: The Chipmunks didn’t have hit records singing too slow!!! 😂😂😂
