I've read the book in 2020 Restarted it now as I'm doing my med school. Its really immersive and paints picture in your mind. Thanks for reviewing it.. 😃
Ahhh thank you for this. I've taken this up as personal reading but am currently doing my a levels so have been worrying about my time for reading as it's an activity I enjoy so much. Audiobook downloaded, alongside my beast of a paperback, here I go!
I really hope you enjoy the audiobook - I thought it was absolutely fantastic and it was like rejoining old friends every time I put it on. Best of luck with that and your A Levels!
I am so happy to hear your review. I was glad to have read this book with the group. It's such an epic, rich novel and one I might not have read because the size intimidated me. It's a beautiful story and an experience I won't forget.
I heard such praise for this book and I really want to read it. But I have some other long ones already in my plans to get through first. Loved hearing your thoughts. I will probably do the same thing and listen while I read.
Hi Deea! While I’m a big proponent of mood reading and picking up books on a whim, it’s a good idea to have a plan for reading long books like this. With your appreciation for world building and the large character casts of fantasy series, I think you would enjoy A Suitable Boy.
Love the connections and comparisons you make to other books. I need to get back to this as I was really enjoying it until I had to step away from it. Loved the rhyming verses. I thought they were very clever. 😊💙
It’s like Austen in the sense of the focus on characters and relationships and I think it’s humorous like Austen as well. I hope you enjoy it if you do read it Em x
I first read this book in 1995 when I was 16, and then again four years later. I tried listening to the audiobook a while back, but Vikram Seth is a terrible narrator. I just checked, and I might get the new audiobook so I can enjoy rereading it without lugging a heavy yomb about.
I feel like I got so much more out of it now than when I was younger. But that tends to be the case for most re-reads! I’ll definitely revisit it again one day!

It’s definitely been enriched by reading it with the group. I was sad to have dropped behind and not kept up with the discussion! Such a great book.
Good work finishing this matey! I still have about 900 pages to go, but you’ve given me the nudge I needed to crack on with it 😅
I definitely recommend the audiobook though I imagine you may have it already!

@@lindysmagpiereads I’m hoping this next year. I’m going to sit down and sort out my plans for 2025 soon!
Thank you for the encouragement, Lindy❣️
I really hope you enjoy it Deea - it warrants slow reading. Immerse yourself in it!
You always do such thoughtful & beautiful reviews. Even though I DNF’ed this book I may go back to it at some point when I am ready ❤
Thank you so much Charlie!
Jack, it was a pleasure listening to you talk about your experience with A Suitable Boy. Thank you for being a part of our group read.
I’m so glad you organised the group read! It was something I wanted to re-read for years and it was wonderful. Even better this time around!
Hey can i join the group read
@khanabananaa unfortunately that ended some time ago! I hope you enjoy it if you read it!
@@spreadbookjoy thanks

They were very clever! I hope you are able to pick it back up at some point Jolene x
Ok tell me a link to Jane Austen and you have me. Will read it next year

I read that book in 2009 and can't remember anything of it 😓 but it was a long long read...
It’s definitely long! I read it first in about 1997 and had vague memories of it but some scenes stayed with me. This re-read definitely will!

The most recent audiobook is fantastic - highly recommend it!
@spreadbookjoy thanks it's been over a decade since I last read it so I'm due a reread
