It just shows how far we have come; leaf-springs, and that hood design, pre-war !

My next door neighbour had one of these when I was a kid, alongside an old mg TD, I thought it was the absolute nuts. Still do...

I love how it says you must only use stick on weights, then in the next shot the wheel has a bead mounted weight! 😂

What were they thinking? This looks like a kit car pieced together from old MGB parts and a few other items. MG used to make fun to drive and affordable cars for the average consumer. Like the MGB, MGF or - like them or not - MG Maestro and Montego.

Didn't realise they left all of the running gear pretty much as per 1964 (apart from giving it proper dampers). Buyers in 1995 must not have been expecting a live rear axle and leafs! It looked nice, but was a nasty mish-mash of kit car - esque interior, ancient engine and even older underpinnings. I don't know why the keep referring to it as a new sports car in this vid.

A 1994 Morris Minor would have been far more forgivble to me...I'm sure that they would have sold a ton of those.

Ancient engine perhaps, but also a great engine that sounds great as well!

I can't believe how many people are haters of a british V8 sports car? What has the world come to I can only imagine these people all love their Tesla SUVs because they are so refined and 'well engineered' but like a lot of modern cars they are not much fun. Just try any old british topless car on a sunny day and perhaps you might understand, we also love M3's, ST's and 911's but there is more than one great driving experience and perfect engineering is not always the route to fun.

I drove and drive since 1996 only topless British Cars like MGB, C, Austin Healey BN4, Mgr V8, and now an Morgan +8. Don't tell me about other Sport cars like 911. I drove this to, but I sell after Years. Not for me.!!

LOL...that folding mechanism of the hood...LOL...in 1994...now that is the reason why there is no more UK car industry....

Isn't it nasty! Even the bow that fits into the cover looks chintzy...like something from a Spanish Citroën 2CV from the 1980s.

I have a serious question; Why are their inlet valves with the fuel injectors? It seems to me, because I have done heavy diesels, I do not see the need for the valves; With direct injection their are no valves, So why use indirect injection? Why Swirl chamber? Plus in this v8 engine & in my Rover 25 of 2001 K series engines, Why do the injectors fire in pairs? And therefore have fuel returned to the tank or fuel regulator/rail? Sorry I do not understand this system very well, being only a student. Plus why do spark plugs fire in pairs? Is that not a waste of energy? Is there a way to re-program the ecu?
Have just found a level two vehicle maintenance course on indeed.com; a jobsearch website, It is discounted to £27 upto the 20th Jan; I sent a question about still getting the discounted price on the 24th, as this is my universal credit paiday? "I have some experience" Just not enough to get a paid job(?) Though insurance is also an issue for trainee's - I asked Anderson & Walls of Bridgwater.

This engine is an American boat engine from the sixties, quite a lot older than direct injection has been in mass use. Secondly, you're incorrect, of course engines with direct injection have valves. The only difference is that the fuel is injected into the bore instead of into the inlet tract. Where would you prefer the unused fuel to go? You don't use all of the fuel available to the injectors otherwise it would run at 6000 rpm all of the time. You could do that and do away with the fuel return if you think that's a good idea? Spark plugs: It's a wasted spark ignition system. Because the flywheel spins at the same speed as the crank shaft these engines fire the spark plug both on compression and exhaust stroke as they aren't setup to tell the difference. It doesn't really matter.

MG is one of the most _abused_ marques in motoring history - it now adorns a Chinese rubbish bin of a car because it now means absolutely nothing.

Your talking absolute dribble, the way you talk I shouldn't think you've ever driven a Chinese MG. There build quality is equal to any car around today and better than the Longbridge days, the MG3 is a supermini is worthy of it's name, oh yes it was designed and engineered in the UK and one thing the MG engineers knew, is how to make an exceptional handling car. MG now have over 4% of the new car market sales, more than Mini, Skoda, Seat, Renault and Peugeot!

It seems anyone can prchase a marque and stick it on their go-carts. When's an MG not an MG?
