Dahlgren Osprey Cam ~ Jack & Harriet's Chick FLEDGES! Hops, Hovers & Lift Off As Mom Watches 6.26.22

This morning, the entire family was on the nest as Jack & Harriet's chick started to hover and flap hop across the nest. Jack departs as the chick continues to hop across the nest & do some hovering. At 10:23 AM EST, the osprey chick takes off on its first flight across the water as Harriet watches her offspring flying for the first time! Congratulations little lady on fledging today at 60 days old! I know Mom and Dad must be very proud of her!
She returned to the nest around 8:30 PM and spends the night with Mom. Thank you for watching!

The location of the nest is in King George VA just outside Dahlgren Naval Station Nest. It is on a creek located at mouth of the Machodoc and William’s Creek off the Potomac River. The osprey pair are Jack & Harriet and have successfully raised a family since 2017.
