    That turned finial really adds some class to the finished piece. As always, great work.

      @@rigoniironworks On the next one, cut the notch at the end of the handle deep enough that the cone can come back to an acute angle. That way you’ll be able to reach up to snuff candles eye level and higher.

    Great stuff! I made a little rolled cone candle snuffer last year but I like the cleanliness of your design much more

      Thanks! Yeah a rolled cone would work great too. I still need to try DOM tubing, maybe down the road.

    From the thumbnail, I instantly wondered “how did he forge that finial on the handle? Its Rigoni, so if anyone could its him!”
    Doing it on the lathe makes more sense though. To be fair, I could not keep it that crisp doing all the followup work, your attention to detail and precise, crisp work is always a pleasure and inspiration to watch.

      Believe me, I tried multiple approaches to forge that design. It's just too delicate to forge, so it had to be done on the lathe.

    Very nice candle extinguisher. Next time, make a candle snuffer. You know, the things that look like scissors.

    • @Lmr6973

      All the the candle snuffers I can find are some variation of what this gentleman has made. The only thing I see that looks like scissors is a wick trimmer.

    If you are not getting the turned finish you want in mild steel, I highly recommend polished aluminum inserts. Mild steel can tear instead of chip, and as long as you are conservative with your feed, the aluminum inserts will last a long time.

    Very nice! I wonder if you could put a small clapper inside the snuffing cone? Then you have a bell too!

    Really nice, maybe if the hinge part was rounded it would go better with the rest of round features.

    I know you are careful but those few moments it looked like you were hesitating, as to not reach for the red hot metal at 2:45 . I was viscerally flinching away form the screen
    Edit: wording

    Please do not misunderstand my disappointment as you create quality work and do so in some of the most efficient ways. But I really wanted to see how you forged the decorative end of the handle... And you only turned it on a lathe. The only forging in this project were two tapers using the power hammer. The title was just misleading for me. You "crafted and a candle snubber"... Not forged one.

    • @rigoniironworks
      @rigoniironworks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I tried making tooling to forge that shape, from a rotation type tool to drop forging. Both failed and it had to be machined. I really wanted that forged decoration for future projects but it's too delicate.

    To be honest, nice work but the title "forging" does not fit in my opinion, you should name it "producing"
