In developed countries, these basic civic responsibilities are taught in schools from kindergarten. It's so ingrained in the kids that even when the adults don't obey, the kids will "teach" the adults. In Nigeria, it will take decades to change the mindset of the people. A country where most citizens call those who carry out their civic responsibilities fools still has a VERY long way to go. I can imagine how bad that Airport Road will be in a few years. Most roads in the adjoining Ajao Estate are unpaved. Beats me how they think that road will last when they did not pave the side streets.
Absolutely 💯 Back in the day most Nigerian cities were clean unlike nowadays. Maybe its because most state governments have taken over street sweeping which is the primary responsibility of the local councils. Thanks for your insights 😊
Yet Nigerians who don’t learn these basic civic responsibilities from kindergarten arrive in those developed nations and know to do the right things. The problem is not really that most people don’t know the right thing to do but rather there’s an increasing culture of IMPUNITY that pervades the society from top to bottom. #TakeResponsibility
@@therealist2866 the difference is law enforcement. Without law enforcement, even the residents of these western countries will do whatever they want. But because there's a consequence for disobeying the law, most people fall in line. Law enforcement is why most Nigerians that grew up not learning these things, take the time to learn the law and fall in line when they get to civilised societies. Start law enforcement in Nigeria today and watch these same adults that break the law anyhow start behaving themselves overnight. Teaching these in schools will lay a good foundation for the young ones while law enforcement is what ensures that everyone practices what was taught in the schools. They both work hand in hand.
the government are just wasting their money on some of these roads. if it was me, I would not pay for roads that are done with so much dust left on the side and no markings.
I enjoy your content and I look forward to seeing more developments around Lagos and throughout Nigeria. You have a great voice for narrating the videos dear good sir.
Bro you are supposed to have 1 million and more sub. Your analysis, videos and how you talk is on point. Please, talk more of road markings, stop signs and road warnings so it will get to the ear of our leaders. I know this road is not completed yet but we have so many roads in Nigeria which are not marked.
Concerning dusty roads, Well said Ned. Aside from adjoining unpaved roads, we will still have dirty roads if our drainages (gutters) are not closed. I can't understand why in the 21st century, Nigeria still constructs roads with open gutter. Not only is it unsightly, but it constitutes health hazards as well as allowing people to throw their trash in there. I suggest the federal government should create a fund specifically to address these types of places that is all over the place.
Good job NedMedia, especially your talk on road maintenance. Honestly Nigerian leaders, those in authority should watch and listen to this video because how this basic concept is not appropriated in our society is beyond human imagination.
Thanks Tope😊 A lot of people are aloof to their responsibilities. Instead of the local council officials chasing vehicles on roads to sell stickers to them, they should try and keep our streets clean.
Why are these trucks limited to the weight that the manufacturers stipulate they can carry ? If u go over the weight limited fine them !! Which is a revenue stream! Don't talk rubbish about keeping the roads clean because in the 70s the roads where kept clean by road sweepers ??? Pass a law that any dirty trucks should wash there wheels once they leave site !! Don't you travel abroad ??
In addition to all you've stated trees, bushes, shrubs and grass verges help purify, moderate the environment and trap dust. I know some are tired of this mantra but it needs reiterating without end, especially now that it seems developers in Nigeria are beginning to incorporate nature in their landscaping. Well done to these people.
The lack of beautification is partly the reason the citizens mistreat these infrastructures as well unconsciously. People, especially Nigerians respect good and beautiful things if they see one. It's a shame, lawlessness everywhere. It all goes back to government though, they have to be saying some of what you are saying to the citizens, criminalise throwing rubbish anywhere and enforce it.Western countries are beautiful because its built on laws and principles, certain things you just can't do. That's the only way the citizens are going to stop doing something that's wrong, they are not going to suddenly start doing right if the government does not enforce right or punish wrong. I think sweepers would definitely make a difference, those rubbish and sand are from months not daily,if the roads are swept once a week, not even daily it will clean out the sand. Green grass areas along the roadside is important as well in reducing sand on tarred roads not just the side roads.Nice drive though. Thank you.
Quality work, i hope they remember to do lane marking, this should be a standard for Nigeria, as they ban open and Upper drainage system especially in Lagos
Thanks for emphasizing aesthetics. Good roads, efficient metro lines sans architectural beauty will not attract tourists, and without tourists - local and international - it'll be more difficult to maintain the infrastructure. Thanks again NedMedia!

Thanks 😊 You're right about the markings, our roads are lacking...
Good and nice video. Every thing you said in the video is 100% accurate.
Thanks Lagondo 😊
Thanks for all your efforts. Always very informative. God bless you!
Thanks Raymond God bless you too😊

Thank you so much you are really trying
Marking of roads is also aesthetic pleasing. The Apapa road should be marked.
They will do that when they finish.

yes, they need to buy sweepers.

Thanks John for your amazing insights 😊
You must sweep the road as frequent as possible .
Must you wait for all road to be paved before you routinely remove dirt and dust
Thanks for this.
Your videos are really 🔥 🔥🔥
Thanks 😊
Did this project has environmental impact accessment,EIA.
Love your content bro Naija our home 🏡
No other home but Naija! Thanks Michael 😊
