Medicinal plants are considered a repository of numerous types of bioactive compounds possessing varied therapeutic properties. The vast array of therapeutic effects associated with medicinal plants includes anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antitumor, antimalarial, and analgesic properties.
Medicinal plants like aloe, turmeric, tulsi, pepper, elaichi and ginger are commonly used in a number of Ayurvedic home remedies and are considered to be the best aid among fighting ailments related to throat and skin.
Consuming herbs may help to prevent and manage heart disease, cancer and diabetes. It may also help to reduce blood clots and provide anti-inflammatory and anti-tumour properties. Research is ongoing but studies have shown that: Garlic, linseed, fenugreek and lemongrass may help lower cholesterol.
Worldwide, between 50,000 and 80,000 flowering plants are used medicinally.
A medicinal plant is any plant which, in one or more of its organs, contains substances that can be used for therapeutic purposes or which are precursors for the synthesis of useful drugs.
This herb and plant is the king of Ayurveda. its calming properties and is widely used.
