SC let the gas off in the 2nd half. Fresno just lost to Oregon St in the last play, they are pissed. Hope SC doesn't let off the gas too quickly against Fresno. Fresno has a mobile QB and he is pretty good. Fresno doesn't have the fire power SC has. SC should take care of business ✌️😎
Great win that Dline and LB front have to get better it’s just too much chunk yardage like Shotgun said. The defense came up with big sacks and int’s though. This team is going to be good this season.
Agreed! Then when Stanford lined up in I-formation near the goaline, they stuffed them. The defense seemed well prepared for the typical Stanford running attack. I was also really impressed with how physical the secondary was.
The run yards were from the “new” scheme. The safety’s had to adjust and did fine. Don’t forget the red zone takeaways. Did you see the hit on Smith?!? Just one of many. Discipline was obvious. You are correct. They will/need to tighten up.
It’s starting to feel like a teams have to play a perfect game to hang with the SC offense. Like it should be. Even when SC made mistakes it felt like they were still in control. Past decade we’d lose this game easily. Stanford had a great game plan, they executed and it still wasn’t enough.
They're not rolling on all cylinders yet. Grinch has gotta get that defense cleaned up asap. Riley has gotta keep the foot on the gas and not get cute with the playcalling when they have the lead. Lots of stuff to work on but good win.✌🏾
@@BangTheGavel1911 SC as a Team is a work in progress, this isn't an overnight fix for SC. But the foundation is being layed out for SC return to being Prominent 🏈 Football Program once again...
Carroll's teams had a 'bend don't break' style of defense: nothing over the top, no deep passes ever ...make the offense string series of plays together and then tighten up once they can't go over the top of you. I remember it taking Aaron Rogers completing 23, 24 consecutive passes and Cal still coming up short of a W! Carroll was a DB, keep it in front of you.
Carroll changed the coverage in that last series and dropped his LBs to cover underneath, this confused Rogers and he threw the incompletes and I believe the interception. Rogers still has trouble when the defense changes things late in the game.
It's really good to hear Ryan & Shotgun with positivity in the voices postgame... im trying to not get too pumped I mean Iam not a Thundering Herd... haha ✌🏾
The biggest surprise for me in this game was David Shaw running the Wake Forest offense after years of their standard offensive scheme in which USC no doubt practiced for. .
What an offense. Talent galore. There are a bunch of defensive coordinators going to be losing sleep, but unfortunately, some offensive coordinators licking their chops. That defense did not look good.
Ryan's right! Shotgun might not remember, Carroll's offense, with Chow in charge was, run scripted plays to see how the defense reacts and then Chow makes adjustments off of that. This starts a chess match of offensive counter adjusting, defensive adjustments. Chow was the master of that but as a young fan, I remember many slow offensive first quarters under Chow and Carroll. Young guns, Sark and kiffen, as OC, may have been different but the strongest SC teams were with Chow on the offensive reins
Ryan's right... The Pete Carroll teams did make mistakes from time to time like 2006 vs. UCLA, 2007 vs. Stanford, 2008 vs. Oregon State, 2009 vs. Washington. People forget about the mistakes that kept them out of the National Championship 4 years in a row!!
The Biggest was letting his Ego run off the finest OC in history…the decline began against Texas ,mid field…7mins left and 11 point lead ,its 4th and 3 to immortality and the twin wunderkinds call White off tackle,…..🤦🏻♂️..after that …Carrol was too busy looking over his shoulder at the nfl…
I have never seen Stanford come out desperate in the second half of any game over the last 15 years. But, in Saturdays game they did. I"m almost surprised Dave Shaw didn't throw a"swinging gate" play at the Trojans in the second half.
Offense looks awesome, unlike previous years things look purposeful and consistent. The d line however needs to be more disruptive, if this game was against a legit top 5 team it would have a been a shootout.
The d line and linebackers still lack the punch to stop the run consistently and look a little small. But this is the first team since PC left that actually forces turnovers.
Caleb looked gased in the second half and made two terrible throws that was nowhere near a receiver when all they needed was to get a 1st down instead of going for the home run. They should've gotten at least 1 TD in the 2nd half had they go for the 1st down instead of going for the home run with those two horrendous throws that was like 5 to 10 yards off the mark. Also, he took a sac instead of running for a 1st down or throwing the ball out of bound. He stood in the pocket for too long and got sac by losing yards and had to punt. I blame the lack of TDs in the 2nd half on Caleb not playing up to par. His decision making was questionable in the 2nd half, possibly because he was gased.
There’s always things to clean up on all 3 teams, celebrate now and put in more work tomorrow and improve
This is how we do it!
Scoring 41 against Stanford was great. One game at a time adjusting and preparing with great Coach Riley.
O line did a great job!

But, Stanford did something new just for us.

That first half was awesome 👍 but they slowed down in the 2nd half. Only 6 pts?... But it's still a win and it was against a rival!! ✌️♥️💛
should have had 9 points in 2nd half. Stanford defense made adjustments. Very good win. Glad to beat Stanford for first time since 2014
@@Char479 first win again Stanford at Stanford since 2014 (road win)
Defense gotta tighten up. 200+ rushing yards is a no, no.
better than under Clay Helton.. Don't forget about that..we could still have him.. enjoy the win

Those PI calls were ridiculous and even worse was the Rice PI. Easy no calls in other conferences
Agree but Rice didn't need to do that at all.
Big dubs fight on!
Offense in the 1st half was unstoppable, so was the d.

usc has the best and the most exciting offense in the country. We Are USC, Go Trojans And Fight On To Victory ✌️✌️✌️☝️💪🤙👍😎
I don’t think any team on the schedule can stop this offense ✌🏼
They’re probably gonna have to win every game to have a chance at the playoffs
I've never watched Stanford run that kind of offense.
Two things: 1st some of players were Clay Heltons 3 stars or 2 star recruits. 2nd those horrible PI calls kept Stanford in the game.
Those were weak calls at best
After watching Bama vs UT game I couldn’t believe those PI calls. They were letting them play in those games. Typical Pac12 refs…

It seems like receivers are slipping more than they should. Do they need to adjust their cleats? Is the turf really slick? Something else?
Run defense looked like Swiss cheese at times. I know SC is working hard but…..
When SC's D catches up to the O, look out!

Kudos to the entire Trojan team! Who cares about Stanfords new look. The CFB world will figure out how to defend! SC did, Fight On!
