I've been happy with the Greenworks product line for over four years, and have bought 7 machines. Happy until my recent purchase of a lawn mower, my second from them and the same model as my first. When I had a concern about the new mower making a very noticeable noise the first one did not make, I made three attempts to contact them; via Amazon, their corporate website, and via email. All three attempts went unanswered...not even a form letter response, zero! As a result, I seriously doubt I'll spend my money with Greenworks in the future.
I now have 4 gas trimmers that are not working. I have collected them over the years. I'm fed up with it also. I get one...take care of it....and it last about 3 years and I end up buying a new one.
I have the same unit and works well. I bought the edger attachment and it stinks due to the issue of the motor not having enough torque when cutting thick grass/soil. The auto shut off kicks in to save the motor from damage and it kicks in a lot. My Ryobi 18v edger does a much better job.
Thank you very much for this video. I have just bought the GD40BC trimmer. I'm trying to change the string and put the blade. Do you know how to do it? Thank you for your help!
I have the same trimmer; bought it when they first came out, must be well over 5 years now. I"m on acreage with over 20 raised beds surrounded by grass, so this thing gets used a lot. Compared to the one in the review mine is a lot more beat up cosmetically but works like new. I have 5 batteries and have used up to 4 of them in one session but by then I'm tired of using it. Great quality machine though could be lighter.
I have owned two Greenworks 40 V, 14 inch trimmers. The first one was really holding up well until I started getting a red flashing light and then it shut down. They replaced it under warranty but It took about 10 months to get a replacement. I knew I needed another one and couldn't wait so I bought another one last year and it is starting to shut down like the first one. It runs fine for about 20 minutes and then it starts shutting down with a red flashing light. It seems to be overheating. I haven't decided if I was going to go through the warranty thing again, they said Covid was the reason it took so long. I have the one they gave me under warranty still in the box. The second one really doesn't have many hours on it. I think when the time comes, I will switch brands. I have tried many different batteries, so I know that is not the issue.
@@oakley2001 I was having the same issue the red light kept coming on.. I've been using another type of battery that is supposed to be made for greenworks equipment but I just used the one that came with it trimmer and no red light.. So it was the battery...Thanks
Hi buddy. Mines has started cutting out with the third light flashing and a beeping sound. So ill switch it on and run it and after 3 seconds it cuts out. Keeps doing it. I tried respooling the line and then took the line section off and ran it without and its still cutting out. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks a bunch
if the line is finished and you cannot install a refill it and do not know how to change it and have the correct line ... you are screwed.... you left all that out...
I've had mine five years this month. Still works flawlessly. Awesome trimmer.

How long does the battery last?
How easy is it to re-string the trimmer line and what size line?

Sounds like a battery issue. Do you have other batteries to test?

What do i do if the red lamp goes on? Can't find anything in the manual....
It appears to be a low battery indicator.
I’m in need of a battery I’m trying not to buy the wrong battery
Bro this thing is weak. I have something from makita with 38v and 4 ah and is crazy fast
