Respect to you and everyone else spreading Ed’s legacy. It gives me hope for the future of music. I grew up on his music, and he will forever be a part of my life.
I am old enough to have seen Van Halen many times and this Tour. I was about 3 people behind the barrier on Eds side stage. I just remember it looked like he had a Rubber Wrist or it was dislocated or something. Absolutely Mind Blowing. Legend, Innovator, Rock God! RIP EVH
I'm only 20 and I got into Van Halen at a very young age, actually through playing Guitar Hero Van Halen. I must've been just 10 or 11 but when I heard the opening to Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love I knew I was hooked. This is one of those rare bands that transcends generations - young or old, it's hard not to fall in love the first minute you hear it.
@@THENAMEISQUICKMAN man, that’s how I got into zeppelin, I saw them at 16 at knebworth, told my mum I was at a mates, these concerts change your life, stay safe man
There's a interview with EVH and it's amazing how much influence on everything in the guitar world Eddie had . Every generation has its inovative people but Eddie's influence changed the game . Tabliture is a form of writing music and was created so you could figure out what he was doing and how to play it so a whole form of writing music was made. Just saying . peace from Alaska
Oh Lord Jesus, he's about to do the thing! Swaggy, if at the end of this you're slumped over in your chair, a quivering mess, drooling on yourself because your brain just exploded we understand. We've ALL been there after watching this.
EVH and James Hetfield are the 2 influences on me becoming a self-taught guitarist. I always wanted to meet him. Now, only have one of my heroes are living. RIP EVH 🙏
As fast as his fingers move I've often thought of him as Fast Eddie Van Halen! His apparent love for what he was doing can be seen on his face, and it's evident on your face as well, your cry of being tortured falls flat my friend, it's obvious how much you are loving this! Nobody knew you could do that on a guitar until Eddie came along! Great reaction!
I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES TO SEE EDDIE VAN HALEN IN THE 70'S WHEN THEY CAME TO SAN ANTONIO THEY SAY JIMMY INVENTED THE ELECTRIC GUITAR AND EDDIE MASTERED IT MAY YOU REST IN PARADISE EDDIE 🙏 🤘
Im totally with you Rose Marie..! I saw them in 1980 and 1984 and have the dvd "Live without a net" and he's the best in my book. RIP Eddie!! A legend gone, but his legacy will live on..! He will be missed..
👍before I even watched your reaction; it will fry your mind! I was so lucky to be a teenager during this era in rock music. RIP Eddie 🙏 🎶❤🤘 9:00 = classic Van Halen sound. You recognize some singer's voices anywhere you hear them & some instrumentalists anywhere you hear them. Eddie Van Halen will live forever. Final edit: I know you're impressed with Rammstein's 🔥 live. (me too) Van Halen was 🔥 live without the pyro gimmicks, just pure talent.
I got to se EVH DLR era twice. Eddie was always smiling when he performed for his fans. Greatness oozed from this man. The Jason Becker video is my all-time favorite EVH videos. RIP EVH, great guitarist better dad & a better dude. He Changed the game.
I've been watching these reactions for two days now, on what is the greatest guitar solo performance in the history of music. Second guy I've seen, that was speechless after this, and just walked out with nothing to say. Another one has been Van Halened. Rock in power Eddie.
I was lucky enough to see Eddie once in Miami at the Orange Bowl for Monsters of rock and he was unbelievable live! Musical Icon that comes once in a lifetime! ❤️
I saw them in Hawaii in 94 and EVH was incredible...been a fan since Van Halen 1. It was the first music I ever bought (8 track!) and played it so much the tape broke! Lol! RIP EVH and prayers to his family.
No one could ever convince me that naming Eddie's solo "Eruption" is anything less than perfect because of the way he goes absolutely *volcanic* with it. You've pointed out how wild the crowd got before he started playing, but when he played the crowd was nearly silent because they wanted to hear every single note. They'd cheer again every time he paused but STFU again when he started playing more. Also, his gestures & facial expressions as he interacted with the crowd shows that he loved all of it; It's as if he was saying, "I put in the time. I've put in the work. I know what I'm capable of doing, but now is the time I get to show you what that is." I'm not a betting man but if I were, I'd wager that Eddie's guitars went to Heaven with him...Because he certainly played the Hell *out* of them. Intellectually speaking, I know Eddie put in so much time & work on the guitar that he'd long since developed calluses on his calluses for the calluses on his fingers but I'd almost swear that, whenever I hear him play, my own fingers start to bleed out of empathy for his fingers. It took me a while to figure out how he could play individual notes so fast but, logically speaking, his fingers had to be moving supersonic just to get the extra notes out of the guitar quickly enough. Okay, I admit I'm exaggerating here but it's not by much... 😁 It doesn't matter how many times I hear Eddie playing, back from their first album (simply named "Van Halen") all the way to today & still running, I still get chills along my spine. Something like *45 years* & it never gets old... Do you realize that, for your generation, this was the kind of music that your grandparents grew up with, as it was all happening for the first time...The likes of Kiss, Styx, Alice Cooper, Billy Joel, & many, many more were all brand new on the scene & your grandparents saw it all, first-hand (Yes, I'm *that* old). Back then, they didn't have auto-tuners or sequencers; heck, keyboard synthesizers were still quite firmly considered "experimental" as musical instruments, as the Edgar Winter Group has shown us. Back then, *what you heard is what what they played,* without the benefit of computerized "correcting" algorithms. Nowadays, with the right audio software, any no-talent hack could sing or play like an expert. Let that sink in... So let me just say, from the ranks of the old school, that I absolutely love how the new generations are taking this in for *their first time* & begin to understand why many of us say that modern pop music is all crap. Taking in the considerations that I've already mentioned (& even more that I *didn't* mention), this is closer to objective truth than modern "celebrities" would admit.
Dude ,your reaction had me in tears 😆 that was great.!!🤘 they are an awesome band and he was an awesome talent I saw him in Syracuse New York in 1982 unbelievable.. it's nice to see the younger generation finding great music and keeping it alive!!
I was one of the people who recommended that. Thanks for the reaction. I know you called it torture, but I saw an awful lot of smiling on your face. It looked to me like you enjoyed it, and I'm glad you have now experienced that. Everyone should. Now it might make a little more sense why rock fans are so saddened by his passing. If you want to listen to more of the big hits that everyone reviews, consider checking out Hot For Teacher, Panama, Ain't Talkin Bout Love, and Right Now. If you want to go deeper into the catalogue of genius and have content a bit more unique, here are my suggestions. From the era with David Lee Roth on vocals: Unchained, Beautiful Girls, Drop Dead Legs, or Mean Street. From the years with Sammy Hagar on vocals: Best of Both Worlds, Cabo Wabo, 5150, Poundcake, Top of the World, Finish What Ya Started, or Don't Tell Me What Love Can Do. Thanks again.
Also for Dave AND Eddie, as this is some of Eddie's best playing I have heard, try "Can't Get This Stuff No More" and "Me Wise Magic." Those songs never get enough love.
Here is something that most of you probably don't know. This is why I immediately know when a Van Halen song is playing. The guitar Eddie is playing, guess what? He built it himself. Yes, that's true! He could not find the sound and tone he was looking for, so he built his own. He called it the Frakenstrat! How many guitarist do you know that have done that? I was in the 10th grade when I first "Eruption" way back in 1978. I am 60 years old now and I am here to tell you that "Eruption" sounds better today than it did 42 years ago. I have listened to many great guitarist over the years, but there can only be 1 G.O.A.T., and for me that is the 1 and only Eddie Van Halen!
WOW!! Was waiting for you to do this one!!! Where's the Angus 17 minute? It will also BLOW your mind! At least watch it you won"t be sorry :) Come on people 1000 likes!!! I HAVE TO SEE THIS REACTION! GREAT reaction btw you are one cool dude :)
And you thought his Jump Guitar Solo was good! RIP King Edward. Will always be The King Of 6 Strings And 10 Fingers. Sir, you Just witnessed “The Goat”!
Awesome Eddie. He wrote and performed the guitar solo on micheal Jackson’s song beat it. If you go find it and listen you will recognize Eddies signature sound.
Dude you have to listen to a girl named Tina S . She plays a Beethoven song called “ Moonlight Sonata “, at the time she was like 16 years old, it will blow you away.
He couldn't speak English when he came to America as a child. He was originally a piano player and couldn't read music. He built that guitar and it's in the Smithsonian museum now
A couple more to check out Eric Johnson "Cliffs of Dover" , Stevie Ray Vaughan "Voodoo Child/Slight Return" off Live Alive Jimi cover, and Robin Trower "Bridge of Sighs". Ok that was 3 instead of 2, but you'll love them.
Ok half the time you have your head back eyes closed and not even watching the video half the appreciation is watching is fingers work the guitar you are missing half of it
You just saw Mach 3 of guitar playing. There will never be another. Eddie and the VH band, created a new sound, party, feel good rock and roll. VH created a new bar of sound, lyrics, and music.
I hate to be a buzz kill but tapping and delay hammer-ons are not that impressive. It just sounds fast but is not that hard for anyone that kinda plays the guitar.
You have to realize that from This from this 13 minutes of playing are sounds and techniques that he created. And this isn't even an ounce of his skill. His rhythm, phrasing, can write hit songs on guitar and piano. When you put on a Van Halen album, you never know what to expect. This is just his solo he considered noodling. Just having fun.
Hate to be a buzz kill? Then don't be one asshole. This is the only time anyone has heard of you. Eddie Van Halen is being mourned worldwide & the best you can do is piss & moan? S.T.F.U.

EVH the greatest guitar player of all-time in my opinion.
Hard to think of many who even contend against Eddie.
