Think of being in a boxing match against a man who is in his mid-20s and has the mentality of being a person who has nothing to lose, yet he has no boxing gloves and is going for an overkill.
So what I conclude from these 3 animations is that melly was hiding and trying to avoid Orpheus and Norton during the beggining of the game. The Little Girl saw Prospecter (as a Hunter due to the drugs and her own fear) and Melly fighting which caused Melly's Flashlight to drop. Orpheus picked it up and ran with the Girl to the room, as Melly tried to "Rescue" The Girl with her bugs. Norton then brought an Axe to save the Girl from Orpheus when they both got in the room. After Norton Chopped the door into peices Orpheus's "Hunter" Identity started to attack Norton. Norton might have unexpected Orpheus to immediately attack him and not be attacking the girl. After this Orpheus and Norton start to beat eachother up and the Little Girl finally sees Orpheus as a Threat which causes her to run away. Orpheus notices her book (which contains her push ability pages) and is terrified as to knowing she witnessed what he did. After this the Nightmare gamemode opening begins. Orpheus hallucinates and thinks he found the Girl again, which might be why she was transparent in the opening part. After being reminded that He himself (The Nightmare) "Chaired" (Killed) Norton, He then mightve Hallucinate himself trying to attack himself. Melly mightve been on a smaller dosage of drugs which may be why she Pushed Orpheus with her bugs, Unknowingly almost making him kill himself. Melly may have been confused as she finished the Ciphers and Exit gate (Melly Escaped while Orpheus didn't which might have meant that Orpheus was the True Hunter that round) Orpheus then causes the forest to catch on fire, which causes the manor to catch on fire. The Girl mightve Burnt to death in the manor which may be why we see her in-game page ability have a fire effect. This is just a theory, Sorry for any grammatical errors. Adding in: Maybe the music box calmed him down before hallucinating finding the girl during the Nightmare game mode opening
Well this makes sense the most but I still don't understand why are they fighting over the girl and if they all see each others as hunters or what , this is kinda similar to black jack and I don't get it , Norton wanted to save the girl ? Not kill her or take her ? Maybe the girl is needed to win the match , the prize or whatever they came for .. I thought its the hunters ability to make them hallucinate about seeing each others as hunters but I was wrong , so now I'm asking myself was all games like this ? Or is it only this forest match because of the poisonous gas around the map ?
Oh god, so canonically, many characters of the survivor profile really did get themselves killed, but the hunters, if the survivors were the ones killing each other, then what are of the hunters themselves? Are they the personas of the survivors?

na, i don't think so. Not only hunter and survivors don't share any appearence (witch Orpheo in his "Villain Charm" and Nightmare do) but they have also different backgrounds, and even if connectet thay would still be different people

I once kited a Wu Chang for 454 seconds as Norton in duos. I let them down me out of pity. I ended up escaping anyway, then survivors were mocking them in the postgame chat and I felt really bad :(
Here's a theory: These videos aren't what has actually happened, they're Orpheus' own deduction of what happened in this game they held. Notice how Norton has button eyes and is very greyscale compared to the fully colored and with eyes Orpheus? He wasn't real in this, it's likely he (and Melly) didn't die.
Well I have something to provide, in this video Norton doesn't actually have a scar which is strange considering in game he does, my bet is that the game story in Dark Woods since Orpheus and Nightmare are the same must have eliminated Norton even though he survived those punches and Melly is a strange case since in game she's just chilling finishing the last cipher but in here she gets punched, so what if these videos are what happens before the events in which you play as Orpheus in Dark woods

I’ve heard two theories about the book that Orpheus picks up at the end 1) The book is Norton’s diary, he collected it after he beat him up and put it on a bookshelf. Perhaps this is the same bookshelf he reads from in the lobby which would explain how all the diaries got there. 2) The book is the one that Little Girl was holding in the “Memory - Little Girl” video. Little Girl witnessed Orpheus beating up Norton and ran away scared, dropping her book in the process. Orpheus is horrified at the fact that she saw what he did and repents. That’s all the info I can provide rn
I don't think Melly died bcs 1st - from the gameplay we knew Norton "was sent back to the Manor" while Melly finish the cipher and escapes. 2nd - From the little girl's Pov, after Melly and Norton fought. Melly was fine and tried to reach out to the little girl but was hit by Orpheus. If you were to check her silhouette after, she looks human (meaning monster Melly is just a hallucination)
I think that this animation took place before the In-Game event, maybe Orpheus hallucinated Norton being Chaired by Nightmare (his Hunter Identity to try to make him think that he is not guilty) at the beginning of the opening and melly woke up after he finished his 2nd Cipher and was knocked out instead. The Girl In-Game mightve been a hallucination.
I think Norton is seeing melly as a hunter due of the drugs the owner of the manor gives that why he probably killed her , he probably tried to defend himself but also I think orpheus took over the power of nightmare hunter , you can see that he breaks the glass and then a nightmare hunter animation appear which mean nightmare hunter aka orpheus killed Norton so he took over nightmare hunter power

Since this was animation version of first gameplay we facing "nightmare". Which prospector captured and Melly passing the gate. 2 animation before was Orpheus perspective, that's why we didn't see "nightmares", instead we see 2 "hunters". ✨Theory: The little girl isn't real, she's a manifestation of whatever people desire. This means that the little girl is perceived differently by each character. Orpheus sees the little girl as simply a little girl, but Norton could be seeing her as a sack of gold for all we know. This could explain why Norton and Melly are always trying to grab the little girl and why a bunch of hands are reaching out towards the little girl in her intro video. Her character intro video also showed many survivors trying to get a hold of her too which seems unnatural since why would all these people be pursing a normal little girl? Didn't most of the survivors come to the manor for the cash prize of winning the game? Furthermore, both the little girl's costumes, "Source of Evil" and "Pandora", imply that there is something much darker to her than her appearance would imply. Orpheus's costumes seem story relevant, so the little girl's costume might be too in a symbolic way. I think Orpheus's desire manifested as the little girl because the real little girl is actually dead. Orpheus failed to protected her, but he's deluding himself into thinking that he can still save her. The end of the video "Memory-The girl" shows the little girl dissipating until she looks like a ghost, so that makes me think that the real little girl is already gone.
yeah i think she is dead too. Her abilities are so "supernatural" compared to others survivors. She can teleport by dissipating, and transform herself in a doll, maybe she is a spirit helping the survivors
and i want to point out that in little girl's background story vid at the end of the vid orpheus said: this is just "his", unfailing bait. This scene is showing the little girl, probably means that little girl is every character's desires from the game, "his" might be The nightmare, he used this "prize" to lure characters to come to the manor, and little girl is the symbol of those "prizes" not sure but this is really interesting
My boy Norton was not given justice, he was grounded to a pulp by Orpheus’ Stronk fists of both savagery and fear. And he still had the button eyes. Oh how you should have waited for your magnets to recharge before facing The Nightmare, Especially since you have a weapon.
I have a tiny hope that since Orpheus was actually in his hunter form, Norton didn’t actually die. Dawg just respawned back at the manor after the game hahahha hah please I can’t bear the thought of Norton dying even though that’s just the type of genre this game is
The animation was very good! Also I am surprised Norton got beat up because by the way he looks in game I thought he would be stronger (tho he looked skinny in the animation) plus he had an axe, and I wonder why his eyes were buttons when Orpheus's were normal?
so. since we know there is a 'potion' which makes you hallucinate and see others differently and each survivor took it, that means melly, norton and orpheus didnt become hunters, its just the way others seen them, for example norton fought melly because he thought she was a hunter and melly was hiding from him in the locker earlier because she thought he was a hunter. Later when Orpheus hit Norton, if you get the perfect frame you can see his face disorting to Nightmare, thats the way Norton saw him in that moment and he froze with fear cuz he does look pretty scary, and Orpheus saw Norton like that hubter as well, we know that bc of the animation where he hid with the little girl, now the reason little girl and him see each other normally is maybe because theyve known each other from before i think, but the question is who was the actualy hunter of the match? btw this is all just a theory
Okay this is my honest theory: Everyone in this video was invited to the manor so I am going to take a look at how everyone is: Melly: Since we know Orpheus is actually the hunter in delusion, we can assume Melly saw Orpheus and decided to hide in a locker away from him. Melly got hit by Norton while exploring but what actually happened? Well you see, Norton only hit Melly once so we can assume that she probably got knocked out but not dead, no way she could have died honestly, I’ll get to that later. Norton: If we assume Orpheus is the hunter then in the “Go Hunting” video, Norton was trying to save the little girl in a way but Orpheus thought that he was protecting the child. Orpheus probably got scared and began attacking Norton in fear of him taking away the Little Girl. Seeing all the blood over Orpheus and in the offical Nightmare mode, Norton is offically dead. Orpheus: Orpheus doesnt know he is the hunter himself, therefore he sees all the survivors as his enemies and begins attacking and running away. The thin man would represent Norton as Orpheus is trapped in his head. I can’t say much about this part until we get back to Melly again The little girl: The little girl seems dead in our eyes. However, I speculate she isn’t dead. Orpheus was supposed to see the little girl as an enemy but he instead protected her, so the little girl actually won and this makes me form the theory that the little girl might actually be Anne, the Toy merchant (Check the video out on my channel) Melly, Again: Later in the “Go hunting” video, Melly is seen trying to take away the little girl from Orpheus. Since Melly took just ONE punch and Joseph’s sword can somehow not cut through your head, we can assume she is only injured. Looking at her Sophia Costume, it is most likely Melly is the blue sparkles and she is guidibg the little girl to safety and is the only one who won, therefore getting rich. Thanks for reading! This is just my theory about this! ^_^ Edit: Orpheus standing against the mirror is protecting himself from Norton. Punching represents going against and beating him up. Melly might look dead to Orpheus thats why shes just sparkles. The bees in the forest of no return event proves that Melly is pulling Orpheus as far away as possible. So when Norton broke down the door, Melly probably took the oppotunity to save the little girl. And again this makes me think that the little girl may be Anne. And yes Melly definitely got knocked out from that fight with Norton. I guess the little girl saw Melly as friendly when she approached her “gently”

Rewatching this after a year of it's release. I really, REALLY want Netease to release some kind of official series. In the same kind of style either on youtube or wherever else. Simply because I'm so curious how the actual manor game plays out rather than the one we see in the IDV we play. I'm not much of a reading person, so I can never seem to get a gist of the lore through the scattered parts of it in deductions and stuff. I'd love to see a more horror animated series stringing all the lore together. Perhaps it's an end goal by the end of the story we have in game? Who knows, either way. This animation is awesome and I want more of it!

Beautiful animation. I hope Orpheus is the mastermind. My take is he used the drugs to create the personality of an innocent survivor. Maybe so he could experience the same fear as others. I always thought the game’s name was about 5 players in a game. Maybe Identity V also means Orpheus has 5 personalities (Mastermind, Novelist, Nightmare and Detective….) One is missing.
I find it interesting if you match this to the gameplay when you have to play as Orpheus it makes sense. Though you aren’t the hunter you see Prospector off screen get killed so probably Orpheus is in denial of what he did and his blaming something that isn’t necessarily him

I think He was entranced because he thought she was the hunter that would eliminate him from the game. Poor Melly, being tackled to the ground, and since that is mostly the only screen time she gets, and until proven otherwise, I will still put to the notion to my mind that she escaped before orpheus caused the forest fire.

See, that would be cool but we have to remember not everyone will break the rules. Some will and turn into hunters. Others were proven dead (not sure if they do anything with the dead bodies). Others escape like Aesop's mentor Jerry who came back with all sorts of wounds

my take is that it's because we're seeing everything from orpheus's perspective, which is why he's the only one without button eyes. not even when its taking place in the past like in about him event. little girl is implied to not be real, spawned from orpheus's mind somehow, and that's why she also doesn't have button eyes.

This animation is fucking beautiful for starters. There's so many questions swirling in my head, it seems like Orpheus is really having episodes.. but I'm having a hard time connecting any dots. What are your guy's theories, I'd like to hear them
I’ve heard two theories about the book that Orpheus picks up at the end
1) The book is Norton’s diary, he collected it after he beat him up and put it on a bookshelf. Perhaps this is the same bookshelf he reads from in the lobby which would explain how all the diaries got there.
2) The book is the one that Little Girl was holding in the “Memory - Little Girl” video. Little Girl witnessed Orpheus beating up Norton and ran away scared, dropping her book in the process. Orpheus is horrified at the fact that she saw what he did and repents.

1st - from the gameplay we knew Norton "was sent back to the Manor" while Melly finish the cipher and escapes.
2nd - From the little girl's Pov, after Melly and Norton fought. Melly was fine and tried to reach out to the little girl but was hit by Orpheus. If you were to check her silhouette after, she looks human (meaning monster Melly is just a hallucination)
I think that this animation took place before the In-Game event, maybe Orpheus hallucinated Norton being Chaired by Nightmare (his Hunter Identity to try to make him think that he is not guilty) at the beginning of the opening and melly woke up after he finished his 2nd Cipher and was knocked out instead. The Girl In-Game mightve been a hallucination.

I think Norton is seeing melly as a hunter due of the drugs the owner of the manor gives that why he probably killed her , he probably tried to defend himself but also I think orpheus took over the power of nightmare hunter , you can see that he breaks the glass and then a nightmare hunter animation appear which mean nightmare hunter aka orpheus killed Norton so he took over nightmare hunter power

Since this was animation version of first gameplay we facing "nightmare". Which prospector captured and Melly passing the gate. 2 animation before was Orpheus perspective, that's why we didn't see "nightmares", instead we see 2 "hunters". While this one just tell us from 3rd person perspective.

✨Theory:
The little girl isn't real, she's a manifestation of whatever people desire.
This means that the little girl is perceived differently by each character. Orpheus sees the little girl as simply a little girl, but Norton could be seeing her as a sack of gold for all we know. This could explain why Norton and Melly are always trying to grab the little girl and why a bunch of hands are reaching out towards the little girl in her intro video. Her character intro video also showed many survivors trying to get a hold of her too which seems unnatural since why would all these people be pursing a normal little girl? Didn't most of the survivors come to the manor for the cash prize of winning the game?
Furthermore, both the little girl's costumes, "Source of Evil" and "Pandora", imply that there is something much darker to her than her appearance would imply. Orpheus's costumes seem story relevant, so the little girl's costume might be too in a symbolic way.
I think Orpheus's desire manifested as the little girl because the real little girl is actually dead. Orpheus failed to protected her, but he's deluding himself into thinking that he can still save her. The end of the video "Memory-The girl" shows the little girl dissipating until she looks like a ghost, so that makes me think that the real little girl is already gone.

yeah i think she is dead too. Her abilities are so "supernatural" compared to others survivors. She can teleport by dissipating, and transform herself in a doll, maybe she is a spirit helping the survivors

This scene is showing the little girl, probably means that little girl is every character's desires from the game, "his" might be The nightmare, he used this "prize" to lure characters to come to the manor, and little girl is the symbol of those "prizes"

so. since we know there is a 'potion' which makes you hallucinate and see others differently and each survivor took it, that means melly, norton and orpheus didnt become hunters, its just the way others seen them, for example norton fought melly because he thought she was a hunter and melly was hiding from him in the locker earlier because she thought he was a hunter. Later when Orpheus hit Norton, if you get the perfect frame you can see his face disorting to Nightmare, thats the way Norton saw him in that moment and he froze with fear cuz he does look pretty scary, and Orpheus saw Norton like that hubter as well, we know that bc of the animation where he hid with the little girl, now the reason little girl and him see each other normally is maybe because theyve known each other from before i think, but the question is who was the actualy hunter of the match? btw this is all just a theory

Okay this is my honest theory:
Everyone in this video was invited to the manor so I am going to take a look at how everyone is:
Melly: Since we know Orpheus is actually the hunter in delusion, we can assume Melly saw Orpheus and decided to hide in a locker away from him. Melly got hit by Norton while exploring but what actually happened? Well you see, Norton only hit Melly once so we can assume that she probably got knocked out but not dead, no way she could have died honestly, I’ll get to that later.
Norton: If we assume Orpheus is the hunter then in the “Go Hunting” video, Norton was trying to save the little girl in a way but Orpheus thought that he was protecting the child. Orpheus probably got scared and began attacking Norton in fear of him taking away the Little Girl. Seeing all the blood over Orpheus and in the offical Nightmare mode, Norton is offically dead.
Orpheus: Orpheus doesnt know he is the hunter himself, therefore he sees all the survivors as his enemies and begins attacking and running away. The thin man would represent Norton as Orpheus is trapped in his head. I can’t say much about this part until we get back to Melly again
The little girl: The little girl seems dead in our eyes. However, I speculate she isn’t dead. Orpheus was supposed to see the little girl as an enemy but he instead protected her, so the little girl actually won and this makes me form the theory that the little girl might actually be Anne, the Toy merchant (Check the video out on my channel)
Melly, Again: Later in the “Go hunting” video, Melly is seen trying to take away the little girl from Orpheus. Since Melly took just ONE punch and Joseph’s sword can somehow not cut through your head, we can assume she is only injured. Looking at her Sophia Costume, it is most likely Melly is the blue sparkles and she is guidibg the little girl to safety and is the only one who won, therefore getting rich.

Edit: Orpheus standing against the mirror is protecting himself from Norton. Punching represents going against and beating him up. Melly might look dead to Orpheus thats why shes just sparkles. The bees in the forest of no return event proves that Melly is pulling Orpheus as far away as possible. So when Norton broke down the door, Melly probably took the oppotunity to save the little girl. And again this makes me think that the little girl may be Anne. And yes Melly definitely got knocked out from that fight with Norton. I guess the little girl saw Melly as friendly when she approached her “gently”

Rewatching this after a year of it's release. I really, REALLY want Netease to release some kind of official series. In the same kind of style either on youtube or wherever else. Simply because I'm so curious how the actual manor game plays out rather than the one we see in the IDV we play.
I'm not much of a reading person, so I can never seem to get a gist of the lore through the scattered parts of it in deductions and stuff. I'd love to see a more horror animated series stringing all the lore together. Perhaps it's an end goal by the end of the story we have in game? Who knows, either way. This animation is awesome and I want more of it!

Beautiful animation. I hope Orpheus is the mastermind. My take is he used the drugs to create the personality of an innocent survivor. Maybe so he could experience the same fear as others. I always thought the game’s name was about 5 players in a game. Maybe Identity V also means Orpheus has 5 personalities (Mastermind, Novelist, Nightmare and Detective….) One is missing.

See, that would be cool but we have to remember not everyone will break the rules. Some will and turn into hunters. Others were proven dead (not sure if they do anything with the dead bodies). Others escape like Aesop's mentor Jerry who came back with all sorts of wounds

Norton’s final diary entry: being in the match of Orpheus’ story just before he commits arson, getting attack by Orpheus in his perspective using animations in game, and then I dunno, suddenly cutting out with novelist or nightmare just uppercutting him then fading to black, just like in doctor’s final deduction story where a pouncing Leo decides to grab Doctor in the last moments of the diary

my take is that it's because we're seeing everything from orpheus's perspective, which is why he's the only one without button eyes. not even when its taking place in the past like in about him event. little girl is implied to not be real, spawned from orpheus's mind somehow, and that's why she also doesn't have button eyes.
