It is a great upgrade for sure for the later model E21’s. Brake balance with the E30 rear calipers seems good! I will go a little more in depth on making the volvos work in a video dropping next Tuesday!
I got these online from Oreilly auto and yes they seem to have some sort of coating/plating where they haven’t rusted like any old casting. Good news is both these and the front Volvo calipers I am running are still readily available!
Hi, install volvo 240 caliper and rear the original 323 but when braking you only feel that the front ones work and the rear ones don't brake, the same thing happened to you? I feel that the front ones are blocked
Make sure they are bled really well. I also removed the stock rear proportioning valve as well (on the stock 320i drums they have one). Otherwise the balance feels good on my car with the E30 brakes on 323i rearend and volvo fronts. Good luck!
I got mine back in 2013 or so for $450 shipped on ebay, wanted to retain the parking brake. Included discs and calipers. For E21 specialties like euro 323i parts prices have increased a bit the last 5 years though. If you are ok with losing the parking brake, there are some adapter plates to use VW rabbit calipers.
@@AdamPE21 I see Ireland has a vw caliper kit for 625. Says the ebrake may be able to work. Sounds like either way I'm gonna spend more than I want to on the rear brakes 😂
@idrinkpowersteeringfluid Every so often you’ll see a 323i part out on FB. You could also check with Jake @classicdaily as I know he was working on a 2002 rear disk brake conversion a few years ago.

I did the same rear conversion - had them
Machined down to 15mm
Where did you get the E30 calipers from? Did they come coated like that? Thanks for posting!

How much does a 323i rear usually cost? Not sure what route I should take for a disc brake swap.
