I used to drive one about 20 years ago and the hand signals were a little bit different for example the boom up we would take our index finger and point it upwards but make it go in a circle so point your index finger straight up and make circles with it is boom up. and boom down is the opposite you point down with your index finger and you make circles.( kind of like if you were actually using your index finger to stir a cup of coffee that's the exact motion you would be performing) And universally stop is when you make a fist and you kinda pump it a little bit. And then tilting the boom up is usually your thumb pointed upwards but you pivoted upwards from a neutral horizontal position and then obviously you point it downwards from horizontal position for tilting down
