- hi welcome to my first public speedrun vid since I joined odc in 2020 it's because there's a speedrunning tournament going on right now in the new halfbrick server (you should join it btw. / discord ) and I aim to dominate it. it's glitchless statueless 8-1-2 100% normal which is an interesting category in itself since disallowing asms means I can optimize other parts of the game with less risk of arthritis (punch asms are agony)
about the run itself it's kind of sloppy with some very clear mistakes in both fights in ;3 and kind of messed up the last 2 enemies of ;5 fight but I at least was able to properly showcase the route for everything except the mandatory fights (which you can rely on my 8-1-2 any% for instead). I know the sa5 fight looks bad but it doesn't matter since 3 enemies are on a super long timer and no matter how badly you do it usually make it in time to snipe the last guy with a knife. the main reason I am showing this time though is because I promised myself that I would upload any time below 3:20 and then upload any improvement to that time, so here's my very first sub 3:20
fun fact for anyone not in the loop there was a speedrun competition back in 2021 where the format was glitchless 8-1-2 perfect score normal with checkpoint resetting allowed which is almost identical so I reused my strats from there, no need for new routing which is really nice I can just spend hours grinding at the route that I already know is optimal. the main difference is just being a bit more careful with the platforms in ;1 and having to go up first in ;2 by landing on the cloud immediately after killing the t1 small ar by the shop meaning for the first time since like 2017 I went to sa2 by the normal intended path (at the time I also thought I needed the cloud platform at the end of ;2 to be there but it turns out you can coyote jump high kick off the well to land on the branch below the checkpoint). back in that format I got a 3:16 so I was aiming to get something pretty close to that time hence my sub 3:20 upload requirement
