  • This calculus 3 video tutorial explains how to find first order partial derivatives of functions with two and three variables. It provides examples of differentiating functions with respect to x or with respect to y using techniques such as the product rule, quotient rule, and power rule. This video contains plenty of examples and practice problems.

Again thank you for your great work. You've literally taught me calculus 1,2 and now three. You saved me in my high school chemistry and physics classes especially during the covid lockdown. My high school grades in chemistry and physics are literally because of you. Basically you're the reason why I was able to reach the qualification for an engineering degree and you're still helping me survive the degree. Thank you man! Honestly I owe you.

While I find The Organic Chemistry Tutor FAR SUPERIOR to Khan Academy, I would never say it's outright bad. In fact, I would say that Khan Academy "paved the way" for (better) future online STEM tutors!! I wouldn't be surprised if even O.C.T. in younger days spent even some small amount of time with Khan Academy content.
However, this is CLEARLY far, far superior!!

Okay it took me a good little while to figure this out, but apparently when it comes to 'constants', we don't take the derivative and instead just rewrite it unchanged whenever it is attached (multiplied) to the other variable that we are differentiating in respect to.
If it is just by itself, THEN we take the derivative of it, which is zero.
I had been so confused why he would say 'this is a constant' and would sometimes just rewrite it unchanged, while other times write it as zero. I'm glad that I figure it out. 😆

i cant believe that i understand.... My story is in 8th grade, I had a math teacher who explained 1 time and gave me a task to solve, I solve, I show, she says it's wrong and sends me back without explaining where I'm wrong or how to do it... this happened 3/4 times I went, she sent me back and finally I got angry, I threw the notebook and left the room :D She left me for correction, I went to lessons, but I didn't learn anything, I was on an exam, I didn't do anything, then again and if the third time if it didn't pass I would stay in the same class. So my mom went and talked to the other math teacher at the same school to help me and the woman just dictated what to write and I passed. Well, since then I hated math, but now I have math at university and I'll have to try again and I watch a lot of videos, but this boy does it exceptionally well, I'm amazed that I understand something.congratulations, you are THE BEST teacher, thank u! :)'

I am confused on the first question of the video, for fy why does 7x^2 go to 0 but 5x^4 does not? Why do we treat some x as a constant and some not. Should'nt all the x's go to zero? same for the fx shouldnt all y's go to zero as well since they are all technically constants?
Edit: Is it because the 7x^2 is alone and not multiplied by y?

If I recall correctly the derivative of a constant*variable= the constant*(derivative of the variable)
      For example
d/dx(2x)=2, and not zero even though 2 is a constant and would be zero if by itself
